WILLIAMS IN QUICK TIME?

12.01.04 – British and Commonwealth Heavyweight Champion DANNY WILLIAMS has promised to knock out challenger MICHAEL SPROTT even quicker when the pair meet for the third time at the Wembley Conference Centre on January 24. The big rivals go into their rubber match with Williams winning the first two battles by knockout In the first fight almost two years ago Williams won by seventh round stoppage but Sprott took the fight at late notice and in their second encounter, last September, the fight ended in a storm of controversy when the Brixton puncher landed three low blow before knocking Sprott out in the fifth.

Now Williams enraged by Sprott’s comments last week labelling him a Desperate and Dirty Dan has promised to knock the Reading man out in double quick time.

Williams stormed, “I’m fired up by Sprott’s comments calling me a Desperate and Dirty Dan. The fact of the matter is in the last fight he had his shorts high up by his stomach and therefore the waistband was high. The punches I was landing were just on his waistband. His privates were not up there and I was certainly not hitting him intentionally there. He was making a meal of it and faking it because he knows what was coming. There was no need for me to cheat and I will knock him out even quicker this time to prove it. Sprott has made a big mistake taking me on for a third time. The last time he wasn’t knocked out for seconds, it was minutes. He knows the power that I have. The first time I did it in seven, the last time it was in 5, this time it will be even less,”

The 30-year-old with 23 KO’s in 29 wins is back with trainer Jimmy McDonnell and he has been working on certain aspects of training for his fight with Sprott.

He continued, “I’ve been working with Jimmy on hand speed and more head movement. I’ve cut out the weights as they made me slow last time. The power and strength is there but I was too stiff and rigid and this time I want to be quicker,”

Williams finished by saying, “This is the last time I want to see Sprott in a ring with me again. When I beat him this time I should be entitled to take him home and put him in my trophy cabinet as it will be three wins. This fight is the final chapter in the trilogy and it will end by KO.”
