Carl Froch guns for the English Title

11.11.03 – Carl ‘The Cobra’ Froch commences his title charge as he takes on Alan Page in a scheduled 10 round bout for the English Super-Middleweight Title at the Derby Storm Arena on the 28th November. The clash will also be an eliminator for the British Super-Middleweight Title, being contested between Tony Dodson and Allan Foster in Belfast later this month.

Froch 9-0-0 (7), of Nottingham, England, takes his first step on his quest to fulfil his championship destiny by winning his headline bout at the Storm Arena.

“I’ve done the groundwork in the professional game. Now the time for talking is over, I don’t want to be the hottest prospect in boxing; I want to be a contender.” began Carl.

“I’ve worked to a dream I’ve had since I was a kid, and there’s no way Page is going to smother it.” added Carl.

Promoter Mick Hennessy is equally confident of his charge’s forthcoming display.

“Froch is the complete package. Although both fighters are undefeated and at similar stages of their respective careers- Froch is going to demonstrate his successful transition from world class amateur to world class professional.” stated Hennessy.

Page 8-0-0 (4) of Manchester, England, is a worthy challenger for the vacant English Title, in what promises to be a mouth-watering contest.

“Page is undefeated, and has earned his right to share the ring with Froch. He’s a classy style fighter. Make no mistake about it- he’s coming to win.” said Hennessy.

Hennessy gave a little insight into the mind of the first ever English fighter to win a world senior amateur championships medal.

“Inside and outside the ring Carl is the consummate professional, he’s driven by an addiction to success. And that is something that cannot be taught, it’s inherent in his make up” said Hennessy

The event will also feature other Hennessy Sports stars Gilbert Eastman, Billy Corcoran, Lenny Daws, Daniel Cadman, the returning Lee Meager and former world title challenger Ryan Rhodes.

That is to say nothing of what promises to be a raucous chief support contest featuring two of the country’s biggest ticket sellers in Hennessy backed WBF middleweight champion Damon Hague – who will be boxing in front of a hometown crowd – and former Midlands Area champion Roddy Doran from nearby Shrewsbury.

Carl’s headline event takes place at the Derby Storm Arena on Friday 28th November. Highlights from the event will be broadcast on BBC Grandstand on Saturday 29th November.
