Floyd Mayweather Jr – Don Moore Postponed

UPDATE: Global Titans Dubai Event Postponed

We are deeply saddened by the announcement of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE President and Ruler of Abu Dhabi’s passing away earlier this afternoon.

Sheikh Khalifa was the second President of the UAE and the 16th Ruler of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. He assumed the federal constitutional authority as President of the UAE and became the ruler of the emirate of Abu Dhabi on the 3rd of November 2004, succeeding his late father Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan who passed away on the 2nd of November 2004. Due to the passing of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, The United Arab Emirates will be observing an official period of mourning for the next 40 days.

Out of deepest respect and due to these unforeseen circumstances of Force Majeure, the Global Titans Dubai event which was scheduled to take place on May 14th at the Burj Al Arab Jumeirah has been postponed until further notice, with a new date to be announced very soon. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and reassure fans that this spectacular event will be staged in future.

From all of the staff and partners at Global Titans Fight Series, our thoughts and prayers are with the family of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan during this difficult time, and people of the United Arab Emirates.

Earlier today at a media event held in the Press Room of the Gabriel Miami Downtown Hotel, it was announced that on Saturday, May 14, 2022, the legendary undefeated multi-weight champion known as “TBE – The Best Ever,” Floyd “Money” Mayweather (50-0, 27 KOs), will return to the ring to face also undefeated “Dangerous” Don Moore (18-0-1, 12 KOs) in the headlining matchup of the inaugural edition of “The Global Titans Fight Series,” a unique global-boxing event, staged “in the skies of Dubai” and broadcast live, worldwide, via premium digital-streaming service LIVENow.

Mayweather, long known for his greatness in the ring and one of the most highly decorated athletes in all of sports is excited to return to the ring in this special event and location.

“I am always trying to push the envelope and if something is brought to my attention that has a unique aspect to it, I am always interested,” said Mayweather. “Having a fight on the helipad of the Burj Al Arab Hotel in Dubai and the opportunity to be the star of the show is going to be something I will remember always. People all over the world can buy the PPV and watch us fight high above, almost in the sky.”

Gary Indiana’s “Dangerous” Don Moore hasn’t lost a fight since turning professional in 1999. A long-time sparring partner of Mayweather’s during his career, and formerly trained by his late Uncle, Roger Mayweather, Moore says he’s in a unique position to give the great Mayweather problems when the two meet in May.

“I am excited to participate in this event,” said Moore. “Because of how much of the same training I received from Roger Mayweather, I am gonna be able to give Floyd real problems. I have been training hard to show everyone what ‘Dangerous’ Don Moore is all about and expose Floyd’s weaknesses. This is my shot, The time is now, Floyd isn’t invincible. Anyone can be beaten.”

In the hearts and minds of many, Anderson Silva is the greatest mixed martial artists of all time. Brazilian-American Silva holds the record for the longest title reign in UFC history at 2,457 days, including a UFC record 16 consecutive victories. As a pro boxer in his second, more recent career, Silva (2-0, 1 KO) already holds victories over Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and MMA legend Tito Ortiz.

“I can’t wait to do battle with my countryman in the sky!” said Silva. “This will be a great event for all the fighters and the fans and I look forward to putting on a great show for everyone. I am honored to share the card with Floyd Mayweather, a true boxing icon. Dubai is a beautiful place and I thank the organizers for asking me to be part of this epic event.”

Of Gambian-Swedish descent, Badou Jack is a fan and TV favorite and a former world champion in two weight classes (WBC Super Middleweight 2014 to 2017 and WBA Light Heavyweight 2017). Active in supporting his community, Jack is the Founder of the Badou Jack Foundation that was created with the purpose of giving underprivileged kids a fighting chance at a better future.

“I’m glad to be back in my second home of Dubai, to fight in front of all of my fans there once again and put on another great performance. Dubai is becoming the new fight capital of the world and events like this, featuring Floyd Mayweather, keep it spectacular. I always appreciate Floyd for his friendship and having my back.”

In part two of his grand slam appearance on “The Pivot Podcast” (YouTube Channel), baseball icon turned real estate mogul and philanthropist “A-Rod,” Alex Rodriguez is joined by “real estate business brother,” and boxing Hall of Famer Floyd Mayweather, as the two all-time greats share with former NFL stars and podcast co-hosts Ryan Clark, Channing Crowder and Fred Taylor their unique perspectives, philosophies and “real talk” about life in business and as household names that transcend sport.

Having appeared as a solo guest on the show previously, Mayweather sets the tone early for frank discussion by delivering an exclusive challenge to NFL teams for fellow Pivot guest and much discussed wide receiver Antonio Brown.

“I think AB is really misunderstood,” started Mayweather. “He just wants to be treated fair, and this is for any team that’s watching right now. We’ll make them a deal. If they sign AB and AB goes through the whole season with no problems at all, they have to give us $20 million. But if he messes up, then we have to give them $20 million. If any team wants to match that, reach out to us.”

“I never heard of that; that’s big!” replies Taylor as the stunned crew takes in Mayweather’s brash solution for resurrecting Brown’s career.

When asked by the insightful Clark about building a winning investment team, Rodriguez says he believes it starts with total honesty. “Most grew up in our community being bullshitted a lot and lied to. We called it slippery. In the hood, we have to make it how me we make it… But once you try to run a business, you have to start with self-awareness and the truth. The truth around here is that the four partners in this firm (A-Rod Corp.) all grew up with me. You need that loyalty, but that loyalty has to be spoken with a lot of honesty. The business comes first.”

Seemingly less deliberative than Rodriguez, “straight shooter” Mayweather says the key to being on his team is listening.

“You’re either an asset or a liability,” said Mayweather. “And if you’re a liability, you don’t need to be around me. This is what I tell people on my team: Do it my way. Because if you mess up, I don’t mind being the janitor to clean up the mess, because I told you to do it a certain way. But if I told you to do it a certain way and you do it your way and mess up, I don’t want to clean it up.”

Always looking to pepper the sometimes emotionally heavy discussion with humor, Crowder prods Mayweather to place a call to his (sixth) private plane’s pilot, who proudly lists the countries he has brought “The Champ” during an impromptu interview.

After a story about promising to and getting blood on billionaire businessman Warren Buffet during a sparring session, Mayweather, noticeably not wearing any of his trademark expensive jewelry or watches, then goes on to discuss the reasons behind his new “swag free” lifestyle.

“With age and experience came growth,” explained Mayweather, “When I came on your show last time you saw me, I was wearing my $18 million watch, but I can’t wear anybody’s watch and I can’t advertise for free… because these are the same people who sit next to us… they don’t really care about us… People don’t really care about us. No matter what I wear, my bank account won’t change. I’m not going to keep on promoting all these European companies and then when we got Black Lives Matter and we need help, they’re not coming over here and standing up for us.”

A staunch supporter of networking, especially among professional athletes, Rodriguez relays how basketball great Magic Johnson shaped his successful post-baseball career.

“Born in New York, I would always see a lot of white guys going to Wall Street with a briefcase,” recounted Rodriguez. “That didn’t do much for me. But, when I saw Magic Johnson, a man of color, with a suit and tie and he was a Hall of Fame basketball player, and now he’s a Hall of Fame businessman with a multi-billion-dollar platform. I said, he looks like me. I can actually be like him. I hope kids look at all us and say ‘hey, that could be me… more than anything I hope they can live out their dreams too.”

Like a group therapy session inside a locker room, co-hosts Ryan Clark, Channing Crowder and Fred Taylor deliver another revealing glimpse inside the hearts and minds of the real people behind the sporting legends and controversial figures that have shaped generations.

The entire fascinating conversation can be heard on this week’s The Pivot Podcast.
