Malik Scott: Chisora’s a salesman

YouTube video
Unbeaten American heavyweight Malik Scott (35-0-1, 12 KO’s) sees British heavyweight Dereck Chisora (16-4, 10 KO’s) as mainly a marketing fighter that is best as selling his fights rather than in performing in them. Scott notes that Chisora was able to get a title shot against WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko with only 17 fights under his belt last year. Scott and Chisora will be fighting this Saturday night at the Wembley Arena in London, UK.

Scott said to BoxNation “He’s [Chisora] a salesman. It’s all calculated. He knows what he’s doing. It’s worked for him. I don’t know anybody that had 16 fights and was fighting for the Championship of the World. When you’re in with me you’re dealing with a lot of different attributes. We know about what he’s coming with. He’s coming right at me. I’m going to be setting traps and I’m going to be tagging him…if Dereck wants to f*** all his money up and act stupid, it’s on him. F*** his antics!”

Malik Scott says he’ll demolish Dereck Chisora

YouTube video
Malik Scott says he’ll demolish Dereck Chisora this Saturday night in more devastating style than fellow countryman Tony Thompson who destroyed David Price.

Chisora clashes with his American rival at Wembley Arena with the Vacant WBO International Heavyweight title on the line, live and exclusive on BoxNation (Sky Ch. 437/Virgin Ch. 546).

Price was smashed in five rounds by Thompson in the rematch earlier this month and Scott is confident he can bash the controversial Finchley puncher.

“I saw the fight between Thompson and Price and I knew that Thompson would do it again second time round, it was a great accomplishment, he’s a good, strong heavyweight,” Said Scott.

Kell Brook needs the winner of Berto vs. Soto Karass

brook251 First off I will start in congratulating Kell Brook on decent performance against a very tough, strong and always game Carson Jones. Even though Kell was fighting at a catch weight of 152 lbs due to injuries preventing him from having a successful training camp he still managed to look good at a weight he is not ready move up to just yet!

As fan of blood and guts warriors i would like to mention a thank you to Carson Jones for taking the 2nd fight and even agreeing to fight at a higher weight this time to suit the bookies favourite fighter to win, if Jones had not taken this fight due to the added stipulations it would have raised numerous questions amongst the fans about Kell’s desire to be a true champion and his promotional teams confidence regarding Kell’s talent. I can only hope Jones got paid well for the fight and gets some good fights going forward to further his career.

Keith Thurman battles Diego Chaves for interim WBA 147 lb. title on 7/27

thurman432Unbeaten Keith Thurman (20-0, 18 KO’s) will be looking to pick up the interim WBA welterweight title this month against Diego Chaves (22-0, 18 KO’s) this month in a fight on July 27th televised by Showtime from the AT&T Center in San Antonio, Texas.

If the 24-year-old Thurman can win this fight he’s going to then be putting a lot of pressure on WBA welterweight champion Adrien Broner to make a big decision about whether he feels it’s worth it to hold onto the WBA title and face the dangerous Thurman or if it would be better off giving up the strap and looking for safer fights.

It’s an important move for Broner because if he takes the fight against Thurman, he’ll be taking a huge risk with his career because Thurman would have a big size advantage over Broner if that fight were to be made.

Berto to drop shoulder roll defense for Soto Karass fight

berto233Former IBF/WBC welterweight champion Andre Berto (28-2, 22 KO’s) says he’ll be going back to the basics in his fight against Jesus Soto Karass (27-8-3, 17 KO’s) this month in their fight on July 27th at the AT&T Center, in San Antonio, Texas, USA.

In going back to the basics, Berto will be getting rid of the shoulder roll defense that he experimented with in his last fight against Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero last November and going back to his old defensive style.

Berto tried out the shoulder roll and it was a disaster with Guerrero hitting him nearly at will for 12 rounds in beating Berto by a 12 round unanimous decision.

Chisora: I’m going to do a number on Malik Scott and pack him off to America

scott35Dereck Chisora (16-4, 10 KO’s) has a tough fight on his hands against undefeated American heavyweight Malik Scott (35-0-1, 12 KO’s) this Saturday night in London, UK. The fight is scheduled for 10 rounds instead of 12, so that’s something that could possibly help Chisora because he’s not going to be able to out-box a fighter like Scott.

Chisora believes it’s going to be a fairly easy fight, but his recent performances don’t suggest that’s possible.

Chisora said to the Telegraph, “I’m going to do a real good job on this boy and pack him back off to America, defeated…I’m happy now that I’ve looked into his eyes and I see the boy is scared.”

Harlem: Host To Boxing Royalty In A Golden Age (A work of fiction)

robinson464633It’s the middle of a magical year in a magical decade and we are in a magical place for boxing. Only boxing royalty is present this night, that and the finest, most gifted artists, writers and performers of the day. The one and only Miles Davis, enveloped in silhouette, plays for the guest of honour, while Sugar Ray’s fellow boxing masters, the ones he has personally invited to his latest post-fight celebration, sit and drink and revel and talk boxing and money and fame and immortality as they bask in the glory they have each long since grown accustomed to enjoying.

Archie Moore, the seemingly ageless light-heavyweight champion, sits at the piano, almost silently tickling the keys as accompaniment to the heavenly playing of the jazz great. Joe Louis, arguably the finest heavyweight of all time, sits and sips on a short, “The Brown Bomber” looking slightly uneasily towards the door as he does so. Then the music stops and our hero makes his entrance.

Hatfield traveller Billy Joe Saunders is chomping at the bit to add his name to Britain’s list of world class middleweight talents.

And the 2008 Beijing Olympian knows that impressive victories over unbeaten rivals Gary ‘Spike’ O’Sullivan at Wembley on Saturday, then Islington’s John Ryder at the Copper Box in September will place him firmly into the mix, alongside Martin Murray, Matt Macklin and Darren Barker.
