Ariza: “We’re [Mayweather’s] fighting May 2nd but it’s not going to be Manny Pacquiao”

Despite being involved in numerous arguments with camp Pacquiao, more specifically Freddie Roach, that drama doesn’t take away from the fact that Alex Ariza was close with camp Pacquiao, and likely at the time involved in most of their decisions.

Now Ariza is on the opposite team, working for Floyd Mayweather Jr., helping the undefeated superstar with strength and conditioning preparation. There is little doubt that Ariza has some knowledge about the ongoing negotiations between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Klitschko – Jennings in New York City

IBF/WBA/WBO/IBO and “The Ring Magazine” World Heavyweight Champion, Wladimir Klitschko will defend his titles on April 25th against US fighter Bryant Jennings. The fight will take place at the legendary Madison Square Garden in New York City. Seven years after his first unification fight Wladimir Klitschko finally fights in the US again.

The 30 year old Bryant “By-By” Jennings from Philadelphia is 6ft 3in, and has an almost 3 inch longer reach than Wladimir Klitschko. Jennings has an outstanding record: 19 wins, 10 by KO and no defeats. In his last two fights he won against the undefeated Mike Perez and Artur Szpilka. Jennings is a former US heavyweight champion and ranked very high in all world boxing organizations.

Mike Alvarado v Brandon Rios III Preview

Mike Alvarado (34-3 23KO’s) faces Texan born Brandon Rios (32-2-1 23KO’s) at the 1st Centre in Colorado on the 24th January. Both fighters vow to make the third fight that little bit more spectacular, which bodes well as their last two meetings produced fireworks.

Alvarado won their most recent bout in March 2013 by unanimous decision. He threw a colossal 860 punches with 260 connecting. As of recent Alvarado’s focus remains questionable after a string of events unfolded. He was arrested on the 3rd January when a hand gun was found in the glove box of his hummer. With the distraction undoubtedly going to take its toll, there’s still the strong case that it could well spark the fuse to Alvarado, packing every punch that bit harder.

Bermane Stiverne OK After Being Hospitalized Saturday Night

Two nights after being hospitalized following his loss to unbeaten challenger Deontay Wilder on SHOWTIME® from the MGM Grand Garden Arena, former WBC Heavyweight Champion Bermane Stiverne, his Hall of Fame promoter, Don King, and his trainer, Don House, hosted a press conference late today at the MGM Grand.

“We called this press conference because the Bermane we saw on Saturday night was not the Bermane we all know. Deontay Wilder did a very good job; this is not a press conference for excuses, it is for fact. The doctors at the hospital of the UMC said that he had a severe case of dehydration. His muscles were not working and they thought he had blood in his urine, so they took some tests and held him in the hospital until this morning.

Tyson Fury eyes future showdown with Deontay Wilder

European heavyweight champion Tyson Fury has expressed his delight at seeing Deontay Wilder lift the WBC world heavyweight title last weekend and now seeks to dethrone the heavy-handed American later this year.

Wilder outboxed Bermane Stiverne for 12 rounds in Las Vegas on Saturday night and, in doing so, became America’s first world heavyweight champion since 2006. Fury, who boxes Christian Hammer on February 28 at London’s O2 Arena, couldn’t have been happier with how it all worked out.

I remember a few years back, when the ingenious, six-man tournament conceived by Showtime, aptly titled The Super Six, had been organized and announced; the contracts were newly inked and the six combatants were confirmed. Proven warrior Mikkel Kessler was rightly the favourite going into the tourney, whilst several other, well-known names were guaranteed to be excitingly competitive. Andre Ward, an Olympic gold medallist, was somewhat of an unknown quantity back then; whilst clearly a fundamentally sound boxer, his relative inexperience coupled with a fairly thin resume (at that time), left a few question marks hanging over him.

Vivek W. (ESB): For starters, I’d like to say congratulations to Deontay Wilder and Team Wilder on a job well done. What a way to start the new calendar year of Boxing! What I loved most about this fight was that it put the spotlight on a man who said he was “ready” for the next level, as well as the burden of proof which required him to rise to the occasion. What was perceived as “conventional logic” prior to the first bell was a totally different story once the bout was in the books!

Deontay Wilder likes his chances against Wladimir Klitschko

Deontay, 29, points to his youth, speed, and inside fighting skills as assets that could lead him to victory over the 38-year-old 6’6” Wladimir if the fight goes down this year.

Deontay Wilder proved everyone wrong, says trainer Jay Deas

(Photo credit: Esther Lin/Showtime) Deontay Wilder (33-0, 32 KOs) was seen as an unproven fighter with a chin problem and with sloppy skills in the minds of many boxing fans going into his fight last Saturday night against WBC heavyweight champion Bermane Stiverne (24-2-1, 21 KOs). However, Wilder proved the critics wrong by showing that he not only had the chin to take some of Stiverne’s best power shots, but he also had the skills to win a 12 round decision to capture the WBC title.

Wilder’s trainer Jay Deas notes that Wilder did a great job of proving the doubters wrong with his performance and he showed that he’s got the skills to win a heavyweight title.
