Kell Brook v Brandon Rios Almost Set For Sep 12th / The Next UK PPV

One of the worst kept secrets in boxing over recent weeks has been that Britain’s IBF 147 lb champion Kell Brook is set to defend his belt against American brawler Brandon Rios sometime later this summer – most probably on the 29th August in Brook’s home city of Sheffield or on September 12th at London’s O2 Arena.

While Brook himself has been noticeably quiet over the rumors, Rios and trainer Robert Garcia have been quite the opposite, with both vocalizing their discontent regarding negotiations for the contest, citing money and Rios being unable to use his preferred Everlast MX gloves as potential sticking points.

Floyd Mayweather is already trading shots with Gennady Golovkin … telling TMZ Sports the guy’s just running his mouth for a payday — and he’s way out of his league. Golovkin — who’s knocked out his last 20 opponents — told us Mayweather would be his “dream fight” and is 100% certain he’d win if they ever got in the ring together.

Now, Mayweather’s camp is issuing a response … saying, “Everyone in boxing wants to fight Floyd. It’s the biggest payday they could possibly have.”

Golovkin has no doubts he'd beat Mayweather

It’s certainly one of the more anticipated fights that Al Haymon’s Premier Boxing Champions brand has delivered thus far, and ahead of Saturday’s clash with Adrien Broner from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, “Showtime” Shawn Porter has spoken via Sky Sports to criticise his opponent for seemingly refusing to discuss the contracted catch-weight stipulation and rehydration clause, that essentially tip the scales in favour of the physically smaller Broner.

Porter, who has boxed up at 154 lb in the past and who comes in as a genuine welter, blowing up to 155-160 on fight night, is angry that Broner is refusing to talk to the media about the catch weight – something “The Problem” insisted on if the fight was to be made.
