Less than two months after delivering the top knockout of 2017, Canadian knockout artist David Lemieux (37-3, 33 KOs) will return in a 10-round fight against Marco “Dorado” Reyes (34-4, 25 KOs) as the chief support to the highly anticipated battle between Canelo Álvarez and Julio Cesar Chávez, Jr. on Saturday, May 6. The mega-event will be produced and distributed live by HBO Pay-Per-View beginning at 9:00 p.m. ET/6:00 p.m. PT.
James DeGale set for massive London fight in June: GGG, Smith, Ward, Groves on the short-list
IBF super-middleweight champ James DeGale, a fighter used to fighting on the road, is set for a massive June fight in London. Last seen going to war with Badou Jack in a WBC/IBF unification clash, which ended as a draw after 12 thrilling rounds, DeGale now has a list of four big names to mull over, as he will reportedly face either: Gennady Golovkin, George Groves, Andre Ward or Callum Smith.

Eric M. (Bronx, NYC): Oscar De la Hoya said that he will take his offer off the table and change it for a potential clash between Canelo and Golovkin. Considering that GGG just won against Jacobs, why does that make sense if they truly want the fight?
Vito W.: I’m not quite sure why, but there’s a popular consensus out there that Oscar’s move was the wrong one. Personally, I think any other promoter in the sport would have made the same move if given the same set of circumstances. When Goldenboy Promotions extended the offer to Golovkin before, I felt it was a bit generous, considering that it was leaps and bounds above anything Golovkin could land anywhere else. Still, they justified the deal based on the growing pulse in the sport around his name. Not results. Simply the ‘buzz’. There was nothing in his resume that earned him a guarantee on the $10M+ level at any previous point.
Virgil Hunter: Andre Ward is not a light-heavyweight, he’s still a super-middleweight – GGG fight a possibility
Ask any fight fan, and they will tell you that unbeaten pound-for-pound king (according to “The Bible,” Ring Magazine) Andre Ward has unfinished business with Sergey Kovalev, the man he so controversially dethroned to become 175 pound champ last November. Ward’s trainer Virgil Hunter agrees, saying the exact same thing to TownBizzNizz Sports & Media.
Hunter, though, adds how his fighter is “not a light-heavyweight, he is still a super-middleweight.” The anticipated rematch with Kovalev is expected to happen this summer, but Hunter says that after Ward has “finished with Kovalev” his star boxer may move down to 168 for a huge fight with Gennady Golovkin. Hunter says Ward would have no problem doing this.

Boxing is all about levels and, without in any way wishing to disrespect the incredibly brave and courageous (in and out of the ring) Anthony Crolla, Jorge Linares proved last night in his rematch with Crolla that he is a top level fighter of the highest order, a far, far better boxer than Crolla.
The question is, can Linares become a great fighter? It seems a very long time ago now that the 31 year-old WBA lightweight ruler was shocked to defeat by Juan Carlos Salgado and then by Antonio DeMarco and Sergio Thompson. It was 2012 when Linares last tasted defeat and he may well be at his absolute best right now.
