According to Anthony Joshua, the world will soon see the guaranteed heavyweight explosion that is the much talked about Joshua and Deontay Wider showdown. AJ was a guest on TV chat Show ‘The Graham Norton Show’ last night and he said that after the imminent Joseph Parker fight, he will indeed face Wilder next, in Las Vegas.
Marvelous Marvin: The Early Years
Turning pro to little or no fanfare back in May of 1973, no-nonsense southpaw Marvin Hagler (the ‘Marvelous’ was added much, much later; and legally) slogged his way up the hard way. Fighting tough guys for low pay checks, Hagler’s inner hardness was formed. Nothing came easy to him, and there were very few opponents that could in any way be referred to as anything other than formidable.
Carl Frampton (Frank Warren) Vs. Amir Khan (Eddie Hearn) on April 21st
Fight fans, British ones in particular, will possibly have a tough choice to make on the evening of April 21st: attend/watch at home the hugely intriguing Carl Frampton-Nonito Donaire fight in Belfast, or attend/watch at home the Amir Khan comeback fight in Liverpool.
Both British stars will engage in their respective fights, while a ratings battle will also take place, between Sky Sports, who will televise Khan’s comeback, and BT Sport/BoxNation, who will do the business with the Frampton-Donaire clash. Frank Warren, who promotes Frampton, obviously wants his show to triumph, but Eddie Hearn, who of course has just signed Khan to a three-fight deal, believes the star power of Khan will see to it that his show gets the bigger viewing figures.

Deontay Wilder given 60-hours community service for marijuana possession
Just a week after news came out about how former heavyweight king Mike Tyson is to open a cannabis ranch in Death Valley, comes a 60-day community service sentence for reigning WBC heavyweight champ Deontay Wilder due to his possession of marijuana. Wilder, who was pulled over in his tinted-windowed car back in June, has been sentenced to carry out his 60 hours at a local YMCA, reports say.
Recalling the Ezzard Charles-Archie Moore wars
Whenever any list of the greatest-ever light-heavyweights is compiled, two names are ALWAYS present: Archie Moore and Ezzard Charles. Moore, the undisputed KO-King, was world champion at 175; “Ageless Archie” enjoying a both long and memorable reign. Charles, as good as he was, was never world ruler at 175, yet he did go one better than Moore, in winning the world heavyweight crown.
Charles, one fine, fine fighter, also bested Moore on three occasions in non-tile bouts. Many fans rank Moore as the overall greater fighter, but Charles, as the saying goes, really did have Moore’s number. Their final fight took place 70-years ago this week (January 13, 1948).
