Last weekend, Swedish heavyweight prospect Adrian Granat (now 14-0, 13 KOs) landed a stunning victory over German boxer Franz Rill – KO in round 6. A win that will have impact for Granat and furthermore a win that has been widely noticed among boxing experts around the world.

The win places Granat as nr 29 on Boxrec after only 14 fights. He is now the IBF intercontinental champion – a title that has been held earlier by world boxers like Robert Helenius and Kubrat Pulev.

Granat: “It was a great victory for me. I was a bit stiff in the beginning but then I improved and Rill was deteriorating round by round . Now I just have to continue”

The other day, promoter Erol Ceylan announced that he plans to organize an event in Malmö – Adrian’s hometown – in February with Adrian Granat as the main event.

Ceylan: “There have been many requests to have Adrian fighting in his hometown. A lot of Swedish boxing fans are excited to have a world class heavyweight boxer from Sweden – a country where boxing has not been one of the major sports in the recent years – most likely due to the fact that professional boxing was prohibited during 1960 to 2007. But things are changing. Sweden today has a lot of great boxers, including one world champion (Badou Jack). Professional boxing is growing in Sweden for sure”

Granat: “It will be fantastic to return to Sweden. I actually started my career in Sweden where I did my first two fights. However, it is difficult for young boxers to make a living there. Even though the prohibition is gone, the rules are still quite cumbersome. It is really tough for both boxers and promotors. However Sweden is the best country in the world and the interest towards professional boxing
there is growing fast now which is great.

The support for me in Malmö is really extensive. Tickets for the event will be sold quickly.”

Results from Hamburg:

Adrian Granat TKO 6 Franz Rill
Erkan Teper Lost 12 Christian Hammer
Fatih Keles W 8 Denis Krieger
Timur Stark KO 6 Christian Lewandowski

Granat; “ We have had a great training camp with lots of sparring sessions during the last couple of months. There has been a wide range of different sparring partners in our camp in Hamburg, which has been ideal for me. Everyday entering the gym, I´ve just told trainer Baser – “Line em up” and then we have had some serious work done. I feel stronger than ever. I do not want to encourage betting, but don´t put your money on Rill in this fight. I just can´t see he can manage more than 8 rounds with me”

Adrian Granat is currently ranked as 40 th on Boxrec after 13 fights and a win against Rill would take Adrian a big step forward towards the so called Mix in the Heavyweight division.

Before his professional debut in 2013, Adrian Granat worked as an accountant in one of the world leading accounting firms.

Granat; “I always tell people; I can count – I`m good with numbers and I can fight. That is a really good combination if you want to make it in professional boxing”

We look forward to seeing you on October 15 th in Hamburg
