Dillian Whyte calls out Lucas Browne, calls him “a big baby”

Newly crowned British heavyweight champion Dillian Whyte says he wants to get one more fight in before the end of the year, and he told Sky Sports that his ideal choice of opponent would be Australia’s former WBA belt-holder Lucas Browne. Whyte, beaten as a pro only by reigning IBF heavyweight champ Anthony Joshua (with whom Whyte is convinced he will one day get a return fight) has called the man known as “Big Daddy,” “a big baby.”

Whyte says he would love to fight, and silence, the man he has been going back and forth with on Twitter.

“Yeah I definitely want to fight Lucas Browne,” Whyte told Sky Sports. “Lucas Browne is a big baby. All he does is whine and cry about everything. He keeps talking about he’s a world champion, he wants his world title back. He says I’m not ranked, but clearly I’m ranked 13 in the WBC. Lucas Browne is not even ranked in the top 40 of the WBC. Me and him would be a good fight on Sky Sports. That would be a fight everyone would tune into.”

It would indeed be a good, solid match-up; one that would be quite tough to pick a winner from. But with Browne’s successful trip to court resulting in the WBA promising him another shot at their “regular” title, Browne may have bigger options out there for him (word is he will face Fres Oquendo for the vacant version of the WBA strap). Browne was hard done by after his thrilling win over Ruslan Chagaev, when he was accused of taking an illegal stimulant (hence his winning trip to court to clear his name).

For a time, Browne’s career hung in the balance, thankfully he has seen his good name restored. Browne may not be the most naturally gifted heavyweight out there (the same could be said of Whyte) but he is full of heart, he is fun to watch and he is likely to feature in more big fights in the future (again, the same could be said of Whyte). Maybe, if he beats Oquendo (as most people expect him to do) Browne will look at defending his belt against Whyte.
