The Bernane Stiverne (24-1-1, 21 KOs) and Deontay Wilder (32-0, 32 KOs) heavyweight clash is only 13 days away before the two large fighters battle it out on January 17th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. Stiverne, 36, has been pretty quiet in the build up to the fight, as he’s taken a lot of verbal and written abuse from the 6’7” Deontay.

Stiverne’s quite nature comes across to some boxing fans as him being intimidated by the hard punching Wilder. However, Stiverne has always been a quiet fighter, so this is kind of the norm for him. He does his speaking in the ring with his fists rather than talking trash outside of it.

Deontay Wilder (32-0, 32 KOs) has been using sparring partner Demetrice King (15-20, 13 KOs) as a source of information to get him ready for his fight in two weeks from now against World Boxing Council heavyweight champion Bermane Stiverne (24-1-1, 21 KOs) at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. King, 29, stopped Stiverne in the 4th round of their fight in 2007.

There was a little bit of controversy involved with the stoppage, however, because Stiverne was still standing and fighting back. He’d been hurt moments before by a big left-right from King, who then proceeded to land a flurry of head shots while Stiverne attempted to cover up on the ropes.

Unbeaten Deontay Wilder (32-0, 32 KOs) has little doubt that he’ll be victorious next month in his fight against WBC heavyweight champion Bermane Stiverne (24-1-1, 21 KOs) on January 17th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. Wilder feels that he’ll get the win but he might not get the credit for the victory because he thinks that a lot of boxing fans will still doubt him.

Beating the 36-year-old Stiverne will go a long ways towards proving Deontay’s many detractors wrong, because Stiverne is considered to be a good fighter by a lot of fans. However, for the 6’7” Wilder to really prove himself, he’s going to need to beat other contenders like Bryant Jennings, Alexander Povetkin, Carlos Takam, Tyson Fury and Kubrat Pulev.

Hard-hitting WBC Heavyweight World Champion Bermane Stiverne (24-1-1, 21 KOs), of Las Vegas, is set to defend his title against unbeaten knockout specialist and mandatory challenger Deontay Wilder (32-0, 32 KOs), of Tuscaloosa, Ala., on Saturday, Jan. 17. The potentially explosive bout between the two big-punching heavyweights will take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas and be televised live on SHOWTIME® (10 p.m. ET/7p.m. PT).

The event is co-promoted by Don King Productions and Golden Boy Promotions and will feature undefeated IBF Bantamweight World Champion Leo Santa Cruz (28-0-1, 16 KOs) defending his belt against a challenger to be announced.

A couple days ago reports surfaced about there being a deal for a December fight between WBC heavyweight champion Bermane Stiverne (24-1-1, 21 KOs) and #1 WBC Deontay Wilder. Apparently, someone spoke too soon, because Golden Boy Promotions president Oscar De La Hoya says that there has been no deal reached between the 35-year-old Stiverne and the 6’7” Wilder.

If the two sides are unable to come to an agreement in their negotiations then it’ll go to purse bids on October 1st next week. That’s when the World Boxing Council has scheduled a purse bid in order to finally get the fight put together.

Trainer Joe Goosen believes that #1 WBC Deontay Wilder (32-0, 32 KOs) has a good chance of beating WBC heavyweight champion Bermane Stiverne later this year when Deontay faces Stiverne for the WBC title.

Goosen likes Deontay’s right hand and left hook, and he believes that he could get to Stiverne if he sits against the ropes like he did in his recent fights against Chris Arreola. Goosen expects Deontay to be able to land his right hands against Stiverne.

The only thing Goosen doesn’t know is how well Stiverne will be able to take those big shots. He noted that Arreola, who came into the fight with a right arm injury, was able to hurt Stiverne with right hands.

Unbeaten #1 WBC Deontay Wilder (32-0, 32 KOs) likes his chances against WBC heavyweight champion Bernane Stiverne (24-1-1, 21 KOs) for when they meet up later on this year in a heavyweight championship fight on Showtime.

Deontay doesn’t see anything in Stiverne’s fighting style and with his power that will give him any trouble. He doesn’t feel that he needs to study Stiverne any longer after watching his last two fights against Chris Arreola, as says Stiverne does the same things over and over. Deontay doesn’t say what those things are, but it’s likely he’s referring to Stiverne throwing a lot of left hooks, right hands and jabs.

#1 WBC unbeaten heavyweight Deontay Wilder (32-0, 32 KOs) feels certain that he’ll be getting a title shot against WBC heavyweight champ Bermane Stiverne (24-1-1, 21 KOs) in the next three months in November. Deontay says that the letters have already been sent out for the fight and that the negotiations are about to start.

“The letters went out today. We’re about to into negotiations. The world will know soon as far as where it’s going to be, venues and all that stuff. All that stuff is coming,” Deontay said to Thaboxingvoice.com. “That’s the month [November]. That’s the month that they are claiming it will be one hundred percent,” Deontay said.
