Timothy Bradley Vs Amir Khan perfect fight for May/Pac undercard?

Timothy Bradley Vs Amir Khan perfect fight for May/Pac undercard?

There has been plenty of discussion about what the Mayweather and Pacquiao undercard is going to hold, and what type of talent it is going to feature. Guesses range between no notable undercard names whatsoever to fights, which could really be there own card, as we saw with Garcia vs Matthysse. My opinion on the best possible fight to precede the main encounter would be Khan vs Bradley.

Sure there are better fights to be made in the sport such as a bout featuring red hot Brandon Rios or something featuring the powerful Marcos Maidana or even a spectacle between amateur legends Vasyl Lomachenko and Guillermo Rigondeaux, but as far immediate affect on the division which includes the names Money May and the Pacman, this one would be ideal.

Amir Khan vs. Gennady Golovkin?

Amir Khan vs. Gennady Golovkin?

Amir Khan tweeted recently saying he would take the fight vs Miguel Cotto ‘in a heartbeat.’ Amir Khan is obviously after the biggest names in the sport for the huge paydays and has been calling out every big name under the sun.

He went through a real ordeal of calling out Floyd Mayweather consistently dating back even before the first Maidana fight. That situation left him with no opponent, finally opting to face Devon Alexander rather than wait it out anymore.

Khan could get lucky in landing superfight

Khan could get lucky in landing superfight

Many people were expecting an announcement during the superbowl for a confirmed Mayweather vs Pacquiao event. This did not happen. It is now coming out that there are a lot of problems in keeping this fight from being made. Largely the old issues of blood testing and money splits have been squashed, however they have been replaced by new issues such as the promotional split between Showtime and HBO.

A meeting between the two boxing icons was seen at a Miami Heat-Wilwaukee Bucks game and this sent another wave of excitement through the boxing world as videos surfaced of the two speaking at the game and reportedly exchanging private contact information. Then a meeting at a hotel between the two occurred and it was believed that real steps were being made to secure this fight for the fans. However it seems a wall has been hit somewhere as no new developments have been made since and the May 2nd date is rapidly approaching.

Khan interested in Adrien Broner fight

Khan interested in Adrien Broner fight

Former IBF/WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan says he still hasn’t given up hopes to land a big money fight against one of the huge stars Floyd Mayweather Jr and Manny Pacquiao in 2015. He’s still thinking that one or both of them may decide to face him this year so that he can prove to the world that he’s better than him.

Khan says he’d like nothing more than to get a guy like former three division world champion Adrien Broner in the ring so that he could show his skills off against the American star. There’s probably little chance that Khan can get a fight against Broner even though both guys are managed by Al Haymon.

Mayweather-Pacquiao fight likely to have rematch clause, Khan frozen out

Mayweather-Pacquiao fight likely to have rematch clause, Khan frozen out

Amir Khan could very well find himself frozen out completely in his dream to face either Floyd Mayweather Jr or Manny Pacquiao in 2015. The Mayweather-Pacquiao negotiations, which are rumored to be going smoothly, are said to likely have a rematch clause in the contract so that the loser of the fight can get an immediate rematch in 2015.

This means that Khan’s chances of fighting one of the two huge stars are very, very poor. As it was, Khan didn’t have a good chance of fighting Mayweather in the second half of the year unless Mayweather was willing to move off the September fight date that he usually fights on.

Khan giving Mayweather 5 days deadline to agree to fight him

Khan giving Mayweather 5 days deadline to agree to fight him

Amir Khan (30-3, 19 KOs) is drawing a line in the sand with unbeaten Floyd Mayweather Jr (47-0, 26 KOs) by giving him a hard 5-day deadline for him to make up his mind whether he wants to fight him next or not. If Mayweather doesn’t choose to fight Khan in the next five days, Khan will move on presumably.

Khan didn’t say whether he would change his mind after the 5-day limit, but you can assume that the so-called limit wouldn’t keep Khan from still taking the fight.

Khan: Many experts think Mayweather is scared of me

Khan: Many experts think Mayweather is scared of me

It appears that Amir Khan hasn’t given up on steady pursuit of a career payday fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr despite the signs not looking good that he’ll be getting a fight against the superstar in 2015, if ever. Khan is now saying that he’s hearing from boxing experts that Mayweather is afraid of him.

Whether this is true or not impossible to tell, because it’s nothing more than speculation and guesswork from the so-called experts. What we do know is Mayweather feels that Khan doesn’t bring enough to a fight in terms of his popularity in the U.S, and for that reason he’s dismissing him as a potential opponent for him.

Let the Games Begin: Ward, Golden Boy, Schaefer, Broner, Khan & More!

The year 2015 is starting off with a bang- not neccessarily in the ring, but definitely outside of it. The pieces on the chess board are moving into place and when the smoke clears, we will (maybe) have a better picture of the boxing landscape.

Andre Ward

Andre Ward’s frustrating court battle with Goossen Tutor apparently has come to an end. Jay Z’s Roc Nation announced the signing of Andre Ward during their initial boxing card last night in Madison Square Garden’s theatre.

Amir Khan: The Art of Talk

Amir Khan: The Art of Talk

Few pugilists over the years have divided opinion as much as the UK’s Amir Khan. Throughout his largely impressive career, he has been dogged with derision and doubt, as fans and pundits alike have continued to question his level of opposition, the resilience of his suspect chin, and his overall pedigree as a fighter. Throw into the mix a ‘speak-before-thinking’ mentality, and you have the recipe for a boxer everyone loves to hate.

I wrote an article on ESB some years ago, attempting to give a fair and balanced look at the controversy and opinionated views surrounding Amir, who was then based in Freddie Roach’s Wildcard Gym. Since then, Khan lost his 140lb titles to Lamont Peterson in a somewhat controversial decision, got timed and sparked by Danny Garcia within 4 rounds of a careless outing, made hard work of Carlos Molina and Julio Diaz, before looking a lot more impressive against Luis Collazo and Devon Alexander more recently.

Khan: Mayweather’s running, who wants to see Khan-Pacquiao?

Khan: Mayweather’s running, who wants to see Khan-Pacquiao?

Amir Khan says that Floyd Mayweather Jr is running from him because he won’t agree to fight him. Khan instead is now targeting Manny Pacquiao for his next fight if the Filipino fighter doesn’t end up facing Mayweather next on May 2nd.

“Who wants to see Khan vs. Pacquiao because I know Mayweather’s running,” Khan said on his twitter.

I’m sure that a lot of boxing fans would love to see Pacquiao face Khan. If the only other alternative to a Mayweather fight is Jessie Vargas, then I can see a lot of fans seeing Khan as a much better choice. However, Khan is managed by Al Haymon, which would seem to be a huge barrier for Khan getting a fight against Pacquiao due to Haymon not working with Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum.
