Ivan Calderon vs. Raul Garcia on October 29

World Boxing Organization (WBO) president Francisco “Paco” Valcárcel confirmed today that former world champions Ivan “Iron Boy” Calderon (105 and 108 pounds) and Raul “Rayito” Garcia (105 pounds) will collide on October 29 in Puerto Rico as part of the WBO 24th Convention for the mini-flyweight interim title.

Valcárcel was in Mexico last week and learned that Moises Fuentes, the WBO 105lb champion, hurt his nose in his win over Garcia last August 27, and “he can’t fight soon. Therefore, Calderon (34-2-1, 6 KOs) and Garcia (30-2-1, 18 KOs) will fight for the interim title headlining the card as part of the WBO Convention”.

Otherwise, Peter Rivera, PR Best Boxing Promotions vice-president, said that they are working in the place for the show, but it seems there will be the coliseo Mario “Quijote” Morales in Guaynabo where Calderon, from Puerto Rico, will face Garcia, from Mexico, for the interim 105lb belt.

Panther Promotions finalizes undercard for “Future Superstars”

Hollywood, FL, September 13, 2011—The elusive Florida Panther remains one of the most endangered mammals on Earth. He is a solitary hunter active in the Florida swamps and marshlands between the hours of dusk till dawn.

Panther Promotions honors both the name and character of this noble, tenacious creature with a night of increasingly “endangered” boxing between dusk to dawn on September 23rd from The Seminole Hard Rock Live in Hollywood. Separating themselves from the current promotional “pack” during their inaugural show here in July, Panther proved young fighters pitted together in truly tough fights remains a winning formula.

Panther’s old-school boxing philosophy continues with the recently-finalized undercard of the “Future Superstars” card. The main event featuring former lightweight world title challengers Daniel “The Prophet” Attah (26-7-1, 9 KOs) and Edner “Cherry Bomb” Cherry (28-6-2, 16 KOs) will cap an incredible mix of seven hotly-contested preliminary bouts. In addition to the intriguing co-main event between welterweights Damian “Devo” Frias (18-4-1, 9 KOs) and Henry Crawford (22-1-1, 9 KOs), Panther lined up some exceedingly explosive action.

Following the tried and true etiquette of the “gentlemanly sport” of boxing—ladies first. This afternoon, Panther Director of Operations Harold Weston announced a special four round attraction featuring Marisol Miranda of Hollywood. Like Weston in his prime, Ms. Miranda initially honed her boxing skills in the Big Apple before moving to South Florida. Training on and off with local female boxing legend Bonnie Canino in nearby Dania Beach for the past decade, Miranda promises: “anything the guys do we can do better.”

Undefeated Houston welterweight Jermall Charlo (7-0, 3 KOs) comes out guns blazing in a bid to extend his unblemished professional record when he squares off against the towering 6-foot Eric Draper (4-5, 1 KO) from Indianapolis in a six-round duel.

Texas light welterweight Juan “Pancho” Copado (1-0, 1 KO) hopes to replicate his excellent professional debut performance when he brings his body-punching to bear against Cleveland’s Kevin Walker in their four- round battle. Striking with lightning quickness and savagery more akin to Pancho Villa, “Pancho” Copado scored a devastating clean knockout at 2:59 of the first round in that initial bout.

Brooklyn-based former NY Golden-Gloves champion and professional bodybuilder Cletus Seldin (2-0, 1 KO) returns to the Hard Rock following his decisive professional debut here on Panther’s inaugural show in July. He faces light middleweight Brian Meadows (0-2-2) of Kentucky in a four-round slugfest.

Super-featherweight Aaron Chavez (2-2) of nearby Vero Beach rounds out the card against Cuban Larry Yanez (2-3) of Ft Lauderdale as both men violently attempt to improve their records during their four-round tussle.

Harold Weston sums up his team’s excitement by stating: “We are following on the heels of a great show which we held on July 9 at the Hard Rock. But this show on September 23rd will have more impact than the first because there are more potential superstars on this card.

I look at the state of boxing today and feel that there are no more real champions today, with the exception of Manny Pacquiao and possibly Floyd Mayweather. The people are the real judges. They decide who the real champions are because when it comes down to the nitty-gritty, they follow a fighter and buy the pay per view, or decide it’s not worth their time and money. When you can sell a million households on pay per view, you are a superstar.

The goal of Panther Promotions is to open the doors for the next superstars.” Visit us online at http://www.pantherpromotionssports.com/index.htm .
