Sylvester – Proksa press conference

Former IBF Middleweight Champion Sebastian Sylvester (34-4-1, 16 KOs) and unbeaten Polish prospect Grzegorz Proksa (25-0, 18 KOs) faced the media today during a press conference at Berlin´s Max-Schmeling-Gym. They will collide in Neubrandenburg on October 1 with the vacant European Middleweight Title on the line. “I know that my name might not yet be known around the globe,” Proksa said. “But this will change on October 1. Everybody will know my name after I have defeated Sylvester.” Added his manager Krzysztof Zbarski: “Nobody wanted to fight against Proksa anymore. He is a southpaw, unbeaten, he is fast and he has made all of professional fights on the road. We were very surprised when we heard that Sylvester was brave enough to get in the ring with him.”

Kalle Sauerland was unimpressed by Team Proksa´s remarks. “Even though Proksa has fought on the road and is unbeaten, he has never been up against a crowd like in Neubrandenburg. It will be a great fight and Sebastian will win.” The Hurricane is eager to return to wining ways after losing his title against Daniel Geale on May 7. “The European title will put me back in line for another shot at the world title,” he stated. “I have something to prove and I am ready to make a strong comeback. Proksa can expect a hell of a fight. He better be ready.”

In the co-featured main event, it is planned for WBA Interim Cruiserweight Champion Yoan Pablo Hernandez (24-1, 13 KOs) to take on IBF Champion Steve Cunningham (24-2, 12 KOs). Team Sauerland has contacted the IBF for approval. “I wanted to go for the WBA title but the fight never happened,” Hernandez said. “Now I have set my sights on Cunningham. I have trained hard and I am sure I can beat him.”

In the third title fight of the night, Karo Murat (24-1, 14 KOs) and Gabriel Campillo (21-3, 8 KOs) clash for the IBF Intercontinental Light Heavyweight Title. Three years ago, the duo collided for the first time, with Murat clinching a close majority decision.
