NEW YORK (April 19, 2010) – Samoan strongman David “Tuamanator” Tua, coming off a near shutout victory by unanimous 12-round decision last month against Friday Ahunanya, continues his “Tua De Force” tour June 26 in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The growing problem, however, is signing a suitable opponent for the World Boxing Organization’s No. 2 rated heavyweight contender Tua (51-3-1, 43 KOs), arguably the most dangerous puncher in boxing today. “I’m willing to fight anybody they put in the ring with me,” Tua said. “I just want to continue fighting towards my dream of winning the world title. I’ll leave the fight details to my trainer, Roger Bloodworth, and my promoter, Cedric Kushner..”
Whether it’s because of unreasonable purse demands, availability problems or simply fears, Gotham Boxing President Ced Kushner noted, “Some of these fellows with their outrageous financial demands don’t realize who the star of the show is. However, Tua said we’ll lock in Monte Barrett by the end of today, or we’ll move on and find a suitable opponent by Thursday or Friday at the latest.”
Gotham Boxing will present the June 26th event in Sao Paulo in association with Artie Pelullo’s Banner Promotions.
Tua, who successfully defended his WBO Asia Pacific and WBO Oriental heavyweight title belts against Ahunanya (120-108, 119-109, 117-111), has defeated former world champions John Ruiz (KO1), Michael Moorer (KO1), Oleg Maskaev (KO11), and Hasim Rahman (KO10) during his illustrious career.
New Zealand’s national indigenous broadcaster, Maori Television, will present exclusive, live and free-to-air coverage of Tua’s June 26th fight.

”Chop Chop” Corley vs. Jermain White May 29th In Washington D.C.
Former WBO World champion DeMarcus “Chop Chop” Corley (36-13-1, 21 KOs) will fight 28-year-old Jermain “Too Sweet” White (17-4, 9 KOs) from Las Vegas for the vacant UBO World Light Welterweight title on May 29 at the D.C. Armory in Washington D.C.
Titanium Promotions headed by Garcia Staley Sr. will promote the UBO doubleheader which will also feature former WBC world champion Keith Holmes (41-5, 25 KOs) taking on an opponent to be announced for the UBO International Middleweight crown.
Seven years younger than Corley and with less than half as many professional fights, White has youth on his side but experience working against him in what will be his first world title fight. He turned pro in 2004 after going 45-15 in the amateurs and winning the National Golden Gloves, an accomplishment he has in common with Corley. He won his first thirteen pro bouts before loosing to fellow undefeated Lamont Peterson, then 16-0, in a fight shown live on Showtime Television in April 2006.
Less than four months later he received another big opportunity. After a comeback victory in July, White was picked to fight Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (then 26-0-1) for the vacant WBC Youth title in August, but came up short again. He rebounded well in early 2007 by winning the Indiana state title with a unanimous decision over the tough Ruben Galvan (27-10-2).
White stopped Galvan in seven rounds when they rematched in December 2007. 2008 turned out to be a slow year as it only brought him one fight, a second round stoppage victory over journeyman Reggie Nash. After that another long spell of inactivity followed before another significant fight, against another undefeated major name, came along for White.
In September 2009 in Pittsburgh, White took on former IBF world lightweight champion, and local hero, Paul Spadafora (44-0-1) and proved his mettle. Despite the ring rust, White made a good account of himself before losing on points after eight entertaining rounds. With the experience of the Spadafora fight, White will be fighting Corley with confidence on May 29, knowing he can go to his opponent’s hometown and be competitive with world class fighters.
Jimmy Bivins Annual Charity Boxing Classic invades North Olmsted!
Main event features Cleveland lightweight prodigy Yuandale “Money shot” Evans against Rey “The Prosecutor” Hernandez!
North Olmsted, Ohio – April 23, 2010 –The annual Jimmy Bivins Classic is one day away! Warner Promotions in association with the VFW Men’s Auxiliary post 7647 and the Old School Boxing Club are done putting the final touches on the show and look forward to bringing professional boxing back to the Cleveland market, in nearby North Olmsted, Oh. The Jimmy Bivins classic will be headlined this year by Cleveland lightweight prodigy Yuandale “Money Shot” Evans against the power punching Rey “The Prosecutor” Hernandez in a six round lightweight attraction. The event will take place on Saturday, April 24th from the Soccer Sportsplex, 31515 Lorain Road, in North Olmsted, and has a total of six professional bouts on the card.
Evans, (6-0, 4 KO’s) will be fighting in northeast Ohio for the first time since he turned professional last August. He is coming off a second round TKO over Juan Baltierrez on the undercard of the Bernard Hopkins/Roy Jones Jr fight just thirteen days ago.
As an amateur, Evans was one of the best in the nation. He was the 2009 Cleveland Golden Glove champion, and won a bronze medal at the 2009 USA National Championships.
Hernandez, (6-7, 6 KO’s) is coming off the best win of his professional career in Februray. In his last fight he knocked out Noah Zuhdi in the first round. Zuhdi was an undefeated prospect with a perfect record of 9-0 at the time. Hernandez has won four of his last five bouts overall.
The co-featured bout will present the long anticipated professional debut of Lorain’s Wilkins Santiago, as he squares off with Torrence King (1-6) from Columbiana, OH in a four round Middleweight clash. Santiago was originally scheduled to make his debut on the “ESPN Friday Night Fights” event at the Wolstein Center in February. King’s record is a bit misleading as he has fought very tough opposition. The combined record of his opponents is 30-5
Also featured on the crowd is lightweight sensation Julius Leegrand (2-0), from East Cleveland. Leegrand was also an amateur standout in his days, as he was the 2005 Cleveland Golden Glove Champion. Leegrand will be matched up against Francisco Portillo (0-3) of Dennison, OH in a four round lightweight contest. Leegrand will look to become the first person to stop the game Portillo inside the distance.
Making his professional boxing debut will be Cleveland’s Chris Lozano, the NAAFS Middleweight champion in the world of mixed martial arts, as he will take on Albany, NY’s Reggie Scott (1-0) in a four round Light Heavyweight attraction bout. Lozano, who has some amateur boxing experience, wants to make his mark in the world of professional boxing, just as he has in the world of MMA.
Another fighter making his professional debut is Jr. Middleweight Rogelio Sanchez, from Fort Wayne, IN. He will go toe to toe with Stephen Scott (1-0), from Albany, NY over four rounds.
Opening the action will be Rock Hill, South Carolina’s James Hope (5-4, 4 KO’s) in a four round welterweight clash with Toledo’s Gabriel Morris (1-5-1).
Doors open at 6:00 PM, with the first bell set for 7:30 PM.

Jimmy Bivins fought out of Cleveland whose professional career ran from 1940 to 1955. Although he was never given the opportunity to fight for a world title, despite at one point being the number one contender in both the Light Heavyweight and Heavyweight divisions, Bivins fought and defeated many of the great fighters of his era. In recognition of his achievements in the ring, among other things, he defeated eight of the eleven world champions he faced. Bivins was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 1999.
