manny steward — Click here to listen to the show — by Nick Powers – As always, this week’s edition of On the Ropes will start at its regularly scheduled time, 6pm ET.

This week, On The Ropes radio returns with the Hostess with the most, Miss Jenna J, alongside her esteemed co-host Nick Powers and special weekly guest Geoffrey “Rumsfeld” Ciani. You can listen live by clicking the “play” on the player or click the link to chat in the blogtalk message board; you can also call into the show at (646)716-5404..

First and foremost, the OTR crew will be discussing the recent allegations brought forth against world class trainer Roger Mayweather involving a physical altercation between himself and one of his corner female fighters.. According to various sources, a woman named Melissa St. Vil, who had been previously trained by Roger but chose to split from him in and persue other opportunities, was living with Cornelius Lock, another Mayweather trained fighter. Roger arrived at the two fighters’ apartment, eventually leading to fists being thrown and lamps being broken. On The Ropes’ panel will be getting into deep discussion about Roger’s future, possible storylines that may play out in the build-up to Floyd Mayweather, Jr.’s bout with Juan Manuel Marquez, and much, much more.

In addition, we will touch on the news that broke over the weekend that the World Boxing Council (WBC) intends to make the Manny Pacquiao vs. Miguel Cotto fight on November 14th for the WBC “Diamond” Belt. This newly created strap, encrusted with many fine jewels, is intended to make catchweight bouts more interesting, or perhaps to actually make them seem meaningful. Due to the recent controversy of the Pacquiao-Cotto fight perhaps not having Cotto’s WBO Welterweight title at stake, though the fight is fought within the Welterweight limit of 147 pounds (145), the WBC has created this championship in an effort to make the fight seem more appealing. However, they have in the process added to the already clustered sanctioning bodies’ numerous alphabet titles, including the various sanctioning fees, and given the boxing community another reason to complain. Jenna, Nick and Rummy will be ready and willing to hear any and speak on all opinions regarding this new championship whether favorable or not.

Following our discussion of recent news in the world of Boxing, OTR will be proud to have as it’s guest for Monday, August 10, acclaimed world championship and Hall of Fame trainer, the one and only Emanuel Steward. After OTR’s own Rumsfeld conducted a very in-depth and well received interview with Manny this past week, Emanuel has agreed to appear LIVE On The Ropes to answer any and all questions regarding his career as a trainer, involvement in big fights, commentating gig with HBO Boxing, etc. So don’t miss a chance to speak with one of the best trainers of the past generation!

We will also be joined by another guest this week with heavyweight contender Timur Ibragimov talking about whats next for him and where he sees himself in the Heavyweight division.

Finally, we will be discussing the upcoming fights this weekend which include Roy Jones, Jr. and Jeff Lacy’s much anticipated “Hook City” bout, with Jones proclaiming himself as “Captain Hook” to Lacy’s “Left Hook”. Possible outcomes and future options for both the winners and loser will be explored, and Emanuel may even get his opinion in as well, also we will touch on Nonito Donaire’s match-up against Rafael Concepcion for the WBA Super Flyweight interim championship.

Listeners are encouraged to call in and share their thoughts on the latest boxing news and to provide questions and comments for our special guests Emmanuel Steward & Timur Ibragimov. Also, if you have any questions for our guests and are unable to call in or access our message boards, please leave a comment here and we will try our best to get your questions out on the show.
