Fritz Sdunek back in the Universum-Gym, Ina Menzer vs Adriana Salles

“Now I am working on the next world champion.” – After winning the WBC belt with Vitali Klitschko on Saturday night, world champion trainer Fritz Sdunek is already back at work. Sdunek, who has produced ten world champions in his illustrious career, was back with his training group in Hamburg’s Universum-Gym on Monday full of energy. “Now I am working on the next world champion,” he says..

Mr. Sdunek did you have a big celebration after the big title win?

“You must be joking! I had to complete a marathon interview session. I just enjoyed one Cuba Libre at the bar and then I was dead tired and fell into bed. On Sunday I traveled back to Hamburg and on Monday I was already back in the gym. My other guys were waiting for me and I have so many other major tasks. Now I am working on the next world champion.”

Who will be your next Champion?

“First of all, for me a difficult task approaches with Alexander Dimitrenko against Luan Krasniqi on November 15th. I see the next world champions in Karoly Balzsay and Alexander Alekseev. They are very close to it, great boys. I am happy to be back to work here in the gym, but the last weeks have cost me some nerves.”

You were always sure of victory?

“Of course. But what was astonishing was Vitali was calmer than I was. Sometimes I have thoughts about this and that and Vitali only said ‘Fritz, what are you thinking about? We’ve worked well. What can go wrong?’ His mental strength impressed me again. I am proud that Vitali won a heavyweight title for the third time. Not many boxers did reach that goal.”

In addition to Klitschko, Sdunek currently trains world champion Zsolt Erdei, Alexander Dimitrenko, Alexander Alekseev, Karoly Balzsay, Denis Boytsov, Sebastian Zbik and Khor Gevor.

World champion Ina Menzer faces the Brazilian Adriana Salles „Universum Champions Night“ on November 22 at the StadtHalle Rostock

only 1300 tickets left for the boxing event in Rostock!

A tough and literally big challenge is coming up for unbeaten featherweight world champion Ina Menzer (21-0-0, 9 K.o.) of the Universum stable. The reigning WBC and WIBF champion of Mönchengladbach will feature within the „Universum Champions Night“ in Rostock and will face the Brazilian Adriana Salles (11-3-1, 5 K.o.).

Ina Menzer on her opponent from Sao Paulo: „She is a typical south american boxer. Fighting in an awkeward style and always attacking. Adriana is with 5’7 obviously taller than me, about seven centimeters. That can make the difference but for every problem there is a solution. I will find that one with my trainer.“

In her last fight at the end of May in Düsseldorf she defeated her American challenger Stacey Reile with a spectacular 4th round knockout win and defended her belt for the 10th time successfully.

Ina Menzer: “I’m fighting for the first time in Rostock but it was a great atmosphere here even as a spectator at the first Champions Night.”
Trainer Michael Timm is confident: „The unusual height of Salles could be seen as the biggest change to previous fights. Let’s see how ew will handle this.”

Headlining the “Universum Champions Night” in Rostock is local hero Jürgen Brähmer who will collide with WBA light heavyweight world champion Hugo Hernan Garay. The ZDF will broadcast live the fight of Jürgen Brähmers from the hanseatic city of Rostock.
