Fransico Lorenzo vs. Humberto Soto Clash for the WBC’s Interim Title on Pacquaio Diaz Undercard

By Danny Serratelli: Brickcityboxing.com has received word that Brick City area fighter, Francisco Lorenzo, 32-4, 14 KO’s, the #3 ranked fighter by the WBC will be fighting for the interim WBC super featherweight title against # 2 ranked Humberto Soto, 44-6-2, 28 KO’s. The bout will take place on the undercard of Top Rank’s Manny Pacquaio, 46-3-2, 35 KO’s vs. David Diaz, 34-1-1. 17 KO’s fight on Saturday June 28th at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Laws Vegas..

Lorenzo has been working his way towards a title bout fighting out of Valentin’s gym in Irvington New Jersey, by way of San Cristobal, Dominican Republic. He has built up his impressive record fighting between his native country and the USA. He is co-managed by veteran trainer and manager Jose Rosario along with Valentin Contreras.

According to his manager and trainer, Rosario, Lorenzo is ready to pull of the upset. He has only lost close and controversial fights over the course of his career to top super featherweight opposition. He has been working hard with a talented camp where I often train amongst the likes of undefeated middleweight prospect, Alex “The Brick City Bullet” Perez, and national amateur champion Mikey Perez and several other talented sparring partners.

Stable mate, junior middleweight, Alex Perez, 9-0, 6 KO’s is also getting ready for a fight that will take place in Redding Pennsylvania on June 6th against Manuel Guzman. For a small gym, the talent is deep and both Alex and Michael Perez will be fighters to keep a close eye on in the future. They both are looking to follow in Lorenzo’s footsteps towards a title shot and bringing some hardware back to the Brick city.

The Pacquaio card will also feature another local veteran who used to train with the Brick city crew over in Red Brick gym (which has been shut down for several years), Monte “Two Guns” Barrett, 33-6, 19 KO’s who will be in for a rough fight with Tye Fields, 41-1, 37 KO’s.
