Boxing Legend Evander Holyfield to Share Heroic Lineup on Turner Classic Movies’ GUEST PROGRAMMER

Turner Classic Movies welcomes Evander Holyfield, one of the world’s most talented and respected boxers, to share a handful of his favorite films on GUEST PROGRAMMER, Monday, Mar. 31. Each month on this movie showcase, TCM invites a celebrity to exchange their star status for a role as a devoted fan of classic film by picking a few of his or her favorite movies and sharing with viewers what he or she has come to love about each one..

Holyfield, a bronze medalist from the 1984 Olympic games who has triumphed in matches with boxing personalities such as George Foreman, Mike Tyson, Lionel Byarm, and the renowned Larry Homes, has chosen the following films for his turn in the TCM programmer’s chair: The Shootist (1976, 8 p.m.), starring John Wayne alongside Lauren Bacall; True Grit (1969, 9:45 p.m.), directed by Henry Hathaway; Cooley High (1975, 12 a.m.), featuring Glynn Turman and directed by Michael Schultz; and The Terminator (1984, 2 a.m.), written and directed by James Cameron and starring Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Holyfield will join a list of past guest programmers that includes, among others, actress Mia Farrow; humorist, actor and author Bill Cosby; Kermit the Frog; Playboy founder Hugh Hefner; TV personality and publisher Martha Stewart; actor Alec Baldwin; actress Cybill Shepherd; executive producer of The Simpsons Matt Groening; producer, director and actor Danny DeVito; chef and TV personality Alton Brown; and Vanity Fair Editor Graydon Carter.
