Gary Woolcombe Back In Action November 30

Light middleweight Gary ‘Hot Stuff’ Woolcombe proved the old adage that while all the best fighters tend to get beaten sometime, the great ones learn from the experience and come back stronger..

And Woolcombe, who suffered his sole loss in a glittering 25 bout career to English titlist Andrew Facey in January, is a perfect example of this.

The talented 25 year old Londoner, who won 12 of his first 13 bouts on points, put the past firmly behind him when he returned with a fourth round stoppage of Anthony Young at Crystal Palace in June.

And ‘Hot Stuff’ proved he was just that when he floored the formidable Jason Rushton at York Hall in September to register back to back knockouts.

Woolcombe, 24-1 (9), makes his next appearance at the Newham Leisure Centre in London on 30 November and promoter Frank Maloney believes his charge is now just one bout away from fighting for a major title.

“I have tipped Gary to reach the top,” said Maloney shortly after his charge racked up his 24th career victory and an incredible 14th win at the historic York Hall.

“As we all know, a loss doesn’t mean the end of a career,” Maloney continued.

“It is how you come back that counts and Gary has proved himself beyond doubt by following up his loss to Andrew Facey for the English title with two devastating knockouts.

“I think this win was Gary’s best career performance and I tip him to win a championship belt.”

Headlining the Newham show is the hotly anticipated rematch between current and former British bantamweight champions Ian Napa and Martin Power. Other fighters on the bill include Commonwealth bantamweight champion Tshifhiwa Munyai, who is being groomed for a WBC world title shot, lightning quick super featherweight Akaash Bhatia and undefeated light heavyweight sensation Tony Salem.
