Cleotis Pendarvis Headlines Feb.9 Card

04.01.07 – All Star Boxing returns to the Quiet Cannon in Montebello for an early Valentine’s Day dinner show as young prospects from the local Los Angeles area will be the attractions of the evening. All Star Boxing’s Cleotis Pendarvis (6-1-1, Los Angeles) will headline the show in a 8 round bout against San Diego’s Eddie Mapula (5-2) for the California State Jr. Welterweight Championship..

The crowd pleasing Pendarvis is coming off a convincing win against Oxnard’s Leonel Madrigal on All Star Boxing’s last show in El Monte. Four of Mapula’s five victories have come as a result of a knockout.

East Los Angeles’ Aaron Martinez (5-0) aims to continue his winning ways against an opponent to be named later. This will be Martinez’ first fight since September 2006. Martinez, along with the aforementioned Pendarvis, is considered one of the best young prospects in the Los Angeles area.

Another East Los Angeles product, 18 year old Gabriel Cruz, makes his professional debut after a successful amatuer career. Cruz has an aggressive style much more suitable to the professional game and should be a local favorite and one to watch for the future. Fans will be impressed with the skills Cruz already possesses at a young age. His opponent will be determined in the upcoming days.

There will be two additional bouts on the show and those will be announced shortly.

The All Star Boxing dinner show consists of round table seating with each table seating 10. Tickets are $100 with each ticket including a filet mignon and shrimp scampi dinner entree, salad, dessert and coffee. Dinner is scheduled to begin serving at 7pm, however later comers will be served for approximately one hour.

The Quiet Cannon is located on the grounds of the Montebello Golf Course off the 60 Pomona freeway just east of the 710 Long Beach freeway at the Garfield/Wilcox offramp.
