SANTA YNEZ, CA (June 14, 2013) – Tonight Gary Shaw Productions presented another great night of boxing at the Chumash Casino Resort. In the main event, Roman Morales (17-0, 10 KOs) defeated Robert Castaneda (20-4-1, 15 KOs) by way of unanimous decision to retain his “Central Coast Championship”.
In the early rounds Morales was using his superior boxing skills to get in position to land his shots. Castaneda was confused as Morales was switching stances throughout the fight. Morales dropped Castaneda in round five and everything was going his way. Things changed in round seven when Morales got caught with a left hook to the head. Morales gained his composure, but Castaneda gained confidence going into the final rounds. But Morales got back in control and finished off the fight landing hard blows to the head and body. Scorecards read 97-91 across the board for Morales.
Kelly Swanson – We are on the phone today with WBO Middleweight World Champion Peter “Kid Chocolate” Quillin and “King” Gabriel Rosado. They will be facing each other in the co-main event on October 26 at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City. This is a great show. Of course, everybody knows that Bernard Hopkins is the main event against Murat, and exciting heavyweight Deontay Wilder will also be on the show. Rarely do fight fans get a fight that we, the public want to see. Usually the promoters in their best interest and their fight stable, create fight cards and then OCNVINCE us it’s what we want to see. They hype enough and we buy into, because we are fight fans. Come Saturday though, I as a fight fan will be watching with intrigue the fight between Bradley and Marquez. Both of these fighters are true warriors and will fight to the finish. We have Bradley a come forward fighter, who though claims he will not be reckless as his previous fight, has something to prove to the world. That in his heart he did beat Pacquiao. Then you have Marquez a slick counter punching assassin, with a vicious body attack and precision that would make many surgeons jealous.
