As we wind down another year on the boxing calendar, 2015 has turned out to be a significant year for the Heavyweight division in particular. In January, Alabama KO artist Deontay Wilder won the WBC belt from Bermane Stiverne with a classy display of distance and skill (against many fans’ expectations) to capture the green belt by a wide decision. Suddenly, the U.S.A had a heavyweight fighter they could get behind; one who had already displayed his concussive punching power and now proved he could box the full twelve rounds as well.
Haye -De Mori Undercard Announced
The undercard has today been announced for David Haye’s long-awaited comeback fight against Australia’s top 10 WBA ranked Mark De Mori on Saturday January 16, 2016 at The O2 in London.
Topping the Haye Day undercard is De Mori’s compatriot, Billy ‘The Kid’ Dib (39-4, 23 KOs) who takes on England’s tough contender Jamie Speight in a super featherweight contest scheduled for ten rounds. Undefeated heavyweight challengers Charles Martin and Vyacheslav Glazkov will battle for the vacant IBF World Championship on Saturday, Jan. 16, at Barclays Center, live on SHOWTIME®. Glazkov vs. Martin joins the previously announced main event featuring undefeated WBC Heavyweight World Champion Deontay Wilder (35-0, 34 KOs), of Tuscaloosa, Ala., making the third defense of his title against confident Artur Szpilka (20-1, 15 KOs), of Wieliczka, Poland.
