We are just hours away from Gennady Golovkin (34-0-0) defending his titles against the unbeaten Dominic Wade (18-0-0) at the Forum, in Inglewood, California. While Wade is most certainly a suitable opponent, it is hard to imagine anyone who is not a current champion with a five star resume to have the slightest chance against Golovkin. I am not, in any way, shape or form writing Wade off, especially not in a sport like boxing, where a split second or a miniscule mistake can end the night. Having said that, the mind, just like muscle memory, has a tendency to presume expectations to be met.

IBF/IBO/WBA middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (34-0, 31 KOs) looked very strong and in great shape today at his weigh-in with Dominic Wade (18-0, 12 KOs). Both fighters looked like they were ready to step inside the ring and begin throwing punches in their fight this Saturday night on HBO.
Can GGG top The Executioner!? – Golovkin wants to break Hopkins’ record
Feared middleweight star Gennady Golovkin wants a number of things: a fight with middleweight world champ Canelo Alvarez, all four major alphabet titles at 160-pounds (GGG currently holds two of them; the WBA and the IBF, as well as the interim WBC belt) and, further down the road, the record for most successful consecutive middleweight title defences. Currently the record is 20, held by Philadelphian living legend Bernard Hopkins. But Golovkin, in speaking with ESPN.com, said breaking B-Hop’s record is something that is “very important” to him.

CARSON, CALIF. (April 22, 2016) – Rising contender and 2012 U.S. Olympian Terrell Gausha (17-0, 8 KOs) takes on Mexico’s Orlando Lora (30-6-2, 19 KOs) in a 10-round super welterweight affair that highlights undercard action at StubHub Center in Carson, Calif. on Saturday, April 30.

Tyson Fury: I’ve got that fire back in me
By his own admission, heavyweight champ Tyson Fury struggled to remain motivated after his big November win over Wladimir Klitschko. The new champion piled out weight, wasn’t really interested in talking about boxing and even suggested he might retire, claiming he had done everything he had set out to do. True, we never know when Fury is being serious, but some fans wondered if the hard to figure out 27-year-old meant it when he said he’d done all he’d wanted to.
Golovkin vs. Wade: Another Ho-Hum Main Event on HBO in 2016
Not many in the sport of boxing think unbeaten Dominic Wade has any real shot at victory versus Gennady Golovkin this Saturday. But that doesn’t stop the 15,000+ fans from attending this mismatch on HBO, at The Forum in Los Angeles. At this point Gennady could fight Roberto Duran and fans would still pay to watch this man perform. OK maybe not.
No hate coming out of this article, fact is power punchers tend to attract the biggest fanbase whether or not the fighter has proven their worth. And for the most part, besides Andre Ward, Golovkin’s team has done their due diligent to scour the earth in search of a suitable opponent at the top-heavy 160 pound division.

Hearn now looking at Johann Duhaupas for Joshua’s first defence
As fans have most probably read, new IBF heavyweight champ Anthony Joshua’s first title defence has been officially announced for expected venue The O2 in London, on June 25th (two weeks before world heavyweight champ Tyson Fury meets Wladimir Klitschko in their big rematch). Another big sell-out is anticipated, even though fans who are buying tickets do not yet know who the 16-0(16) Joshua’s challenger will be.

Mosley far from done, says he wants Cotto, Marquez, Mayweather, Pacquiao after Avanesyan bout
Though he is 44-years-old and way past his sizzling best, former pound-for-pound star “Sugar” Shane Mosley remains as ambitious as ever. The former lightweight, welterweight and super-welterweight champion announced his retirement after a corner retirement of a loss to Anthony Mundine in late 2013; only for Mosley to come back, in what could be called a “special attraction” type of fight with Ricardo Mayorga in a rematch, and then fight and defeat Patrick Lopez after that.
