Why Andre Ward SHOULD Rematch Carl Froch in Nottingham (VIDEO)

YouTube video
In a recent interview discussing his future, missing in action world class boxer Andre Ward told Sky Sports that he is interested in a rematch with Carl Froch. The two first met in the Super Six Final back in December 2011 when Ward defeated Froch by unanimous decision in a fight that was much less competitive than the scorecards suggested.

“The UK is one thing, Nottingham is something different” said Ward. “I’m not willing to come to Nottingham, I don’t think I should have to, but Wembley stadium, the UK as a whole – I would love to come”.

Petalcorin’s Australian based manager Peter Maniatis states “l first saw Randy “Ultratune” Petalcorin Fight on the Brian Viloria vs Carlos Tamara world title undercard in January 2010 in Manila when Randy was only 18 years old and I signed a deal with him basically after that fight to co-manage him in General Santos City with Jim Managquil. My plan was to always bring Randy Ultratune to Melbourne so he can train and fight under Mick Hargreaves BoxingFit gym as his trainer.”

Khan/Algieri Offical: Khan v Brook on the back burner

What people say and what people do in boxing very rarely align, that much is clear. So, when Amir Khan, 30-3 (19KO’s), announced today that he is to face Chris Algieri, 20-1 (8KO’s), in New York on 30th May – aside from the initial thoughts of hypocrisy – I wasn’t at all surprised.

This is the same man who has informed the reigning IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook to consider facing some more notable names, before he would be considered worthy of sharing a ring with him.

Step in Chris Algieri, a man who has fought at 147lbs once in his short professional career and was knocked down 6 times in that fight by Manny Pacquiao back in November. Algieri is a likable guy and a decent fighter, but in a molten welterweight division he’s nowhere to be seen.

Matthysse - Provodnikov Conference call Transcript

Mr. Freddie Roach: Ruslan is doing really well and he’s in a really good shape for this fight. He knows just how to fight and he’s a good fighter and I look forward to it, and on paper it looks like one of the best this year. So, it’s going to be a tremendous show and I don’t think you want to miss this on.

Mr. Artie Pelullo: Okay, thanks, Freddie, and now I’d like to introduce to you all Ruslan Provodnikov, the Siberian Rocky, who, as I’ve said I’ve had the good fortune of meeting him and Vadim seven years ago when I went to Moscow for the first time and signed Ruslan to an exclusive contract. Anthony Joshua vs Jason Gavern: Weigh-In Video

YouTube video
Anthony Joshua MBE says his injury layoff has made him even hungrier for success as he returns to action against Jason Gavern at the Metro Radio Arena in Newcastle on Saturday night, live on Sky Sports.

A stress fracture of the back forced Joshua out of his January bout with Kevin ‘Kingpin’ Johnson, and the Olympic gold medal hero said it was tough not to capitalise on his rapid progress following another brutal KO win over Michael Sprott in Liverpool in November, but the 25 year old says he will be back and better than ever in the north east.

“I was on a roll and there was great momentum, but I think I can pick that up again,” said Joshua.

Stevenson vs. Bika/Beterbiev vs. Campillo: Saturday’s PBC on CBS Screams Premium Cable Showcase

Stevenson vs. Bika/Beterbiev vs. Campillo: Saturday’s PBC on CBS Screams Premium Cable Showcase

(Photo credit: Amanda Kwok / PBC on CBS) Al Haymon’s Premier Boxing Champions return on CBS for an 80’s-esque throwback this Saturday afternoon live from the Pepsi Coliseum in Quebec City, Canada. The main event matches the current lineal light heavyweight champion Adonis Stevenson against tough-as-nails and former super middleweight titleholder Sakio Bika. The co-main event features another step in the promising career of Arthur Beterbiev when he faces Gabriel Campillo.

The CBS broadcast harkens back to the days when boxing was a staple on terrestrial television in the afternoon, a time when the general public recognized more than just a few big names in boxing. Considering the promotion behind this event on CBS it’s too bad the top of this card wasn’t put together with more effort. No disrespect to Sakio Bika, who cut his teeth against the best fighters in his weight class in the last ten years or so. Of late though it appears the best days are behind the iron-chinned Bika. In the first of his two fights versus Anthony Dirrell something seemed different. He didn’t have that same spunk and what became obvious to see only worsened in the rematch.
