Professional boxing returned to The Strand Ballroom and Theatre in Providence last night, December 1 for the first time in 20 years and popular Providence featherweight Toka “T-Nice” Kahn Clary didn’t disappoint the large, raucous crowd.

Kahn-Clary (24-1, 16 KOs) turned in a dominant performance, winning by way of a seventh-round technical knockout, over previously undefeated Filipino slugger John Vincent Moralde (19-1, 10 KOs), the WBC Asian featherweight titlist, to capture the vacant World Boxing Council (WBC) USNBC featherweight championship.

Featherweight prospect Toka “T-Nice” Khan-Clary’s (22-1-0-1, 15 KOs) life, especially his childhood, was extremely difficult, to say the least, yet no matter what kind of daunting obstacles he has had to face, he always stayed focused and figured a way to overcome them.

Such was the case last September when he was moving up the divisional rankings as an undefeated fighter, who was ranked in the top fifteen by the NABF. Things quickly unravel for him; however, when he suffer an unexpected first-round knockout loss to unknown fighter Jhon Gemino. Gemino not only knockout Khan-Clary, but did it within the first minute, via a powerful right hook.

Boxing’s ageless “Road Warrior” added another highlight-reel knockout to his resume Friday night at Twin River Casino.
