It looks like Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer may have spoke too soon by assuming that WBA welterweight champion Marcos Maidana (35-3, 31 KO’s) would follow along in march step by willingly agree to give Golden Boy’s highly popular Adrien Broner (27-1, 22 KO’s) a rematch next April just because Broner exercised his rematch clause.
Maidana’s not willing to just give up his chance of getting a much better fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr. – or someone else – just because Schaefer said that the Broner-Maidana fight will happen in April. Maidana doesn’t want to narrow his possibilities by saying yes to that fight and missing out on something much bigger like Mayweather.
Former WBA welterweight champion Adrien Broner (27-1, 22 KO’s) realizes what he did wrong in his loss last month to Marcos Maidana (35-3, 31 KO’s), and he wants to fix those problems in a rematch as soon as possible. Broner doesn’t want to fight anyone else until after he gets Maidana in the ring and proves that the loss was just a fluke thing, and not something that was indicative of him lacking super star class talent. 
The year 2013 ended with a huge victory for boxing. A much needed sense of dignity was restored to the sports image. Trainer Abel Sanchez feels that WBA/WBC light welterweight champion Danny Garcia and WBA 147 lb. champion Marcos Maidana both deserve a fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr. more than Amir Khan does right now. However, Sanchez thinks that Khan will be the one that gets the fight against Floyd on May 3rd because he gives him the biggest money fight available compared to Maidana or Garcia. 
If Marcos Maidana ends up being the one that faces Floyd Mayweather Jr. in his next pay-per-view bout on Showtime on May 3rd, Sergio Martinez sees Mayweather as having problems in trying to beat him. Sergio, a tough fighter from Argentina, thinks Maidana won’t be an easy out for Mayweather if he chooses to face him. 
Marcos Maidana (35-3, 31 KO’s) was hoping to cash in with a big money fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr. following his upset victory over Adrien Broner earlier this month on December 14th in San Antonio, Texas. But the chances of Maidana getting a fight against Mayweather are slim at best, and he might not even get a rematch against Broner. It’s doubtful that Golden Boy Promotions will let Broner fight Maidana again unless he forces the issue against their advice for him to move on.
