Demetrius Andrade Is Back

Demetrius Andrade Is Back

Former WBO super welterweight champion Demetrius “Boo Boo” Andrade returned to the ring in October for the first time in 16 months and scored a second round technical knockout against the former South American champion Dario Fabian Pucheta. Andrade Beginning the Road Back to Top Level

Andrade Beginning the Road Back to Top Level

Undefeated former WBO 154lb champion, Demetrius Andrade (21-0, 14ko), is determined to bounce back from a nightmare period that has seen him out of the ring for 16 months, embroiled in promotional/contractual tussles, and ultimately stripped of the WBO title that was picked up last weekend by Britain’s Liam Smith.

Andrade hasn’t been seen since his dominant stoppage victory over mandatory challenger Brian Rose in June 2014, after which he turned down a $550k payday to face Jermell Charlo, claiming he was being courted by Roc-Nation Sports, who offered him the same $550,000 figure not to fight while they wrangled him out of his deal with Star Boxing and Banner Promotions.

Demetrius Andrade – the Charlos are bums compared to me

Demetrius Andrade – the Charlos are bums compared to me

WBO world super welterweight champion Demetrius Andrade went on a rant during an interview with ThaBoxingVoice recently. He claimed that Canelo had ducked him in favour of easier opponents and then went on to say that the Charlo brothers, whilst good, were levels below him and were ‘bums’ in comparison to himself.

Andrade is currently undefeated in 21 bouts with 14 stoppages to his name. He made his way into the big picture with a win over the undefeated machine Vanes Martiosyan in 2013 where he picked up the then vacant WBO strap. He then came back in mid 2014 against Brian Rose. Rose was a british fighter with just 1 loss in 27 bouts but was brutally beaten around by Andrade and made to look slow and amateurish by the WBO champ.

2014/2015 Previews & Reviews: Wladimir Klitschko, Deontay Wilder, Bermane Stiverne, Demetrius Andrade, Mikey Garcia, Abner Mares, Jermell Charlo, & Felix Verdejo

WLADIMIR KLITSCHKO

2014 was simply a continuation of the pattern Klitschko has seen for quite some time now. Two unknown opponents, two more victories, and two more defenses of a title that he’s rarely been tested for. While critics will jump at the chance to tear down this ‘great wall’ of talent, the truth is that no talent can choose the era in which they dominate.

Wladimir unfortunately came along at a point where the talent pool in the heavyweight division is about as tough as that last ply of toilet paper on the roll. No fault of his own, which has to mean something when scanning over his lifeless resume. 2015 could offer a few interesting twist, as suddenly, the heavyweight division has received a shot in the arm that few saw coming.

Brian Rose gets his dream shot against Boo-Boo in the summer

Brian ‘the lion’ Rose will finally see his dream of challenging for a world title come true this summer when he travels to America to oppose reigning WBO light-middleweight champion Demetrius Andrade, live on Sky Sports and HBO.
