David Haye: My motivation is to become heavyweight champion of the world

By Carlos Ortiz: David Haye (26-2, 24 KOs) will be clearing over three years of ring rust out of his systems this Saturday night in fighting Mark De Mori (30-1-2, 26 KOs) at the O2 Arena in London, UK. This is small step for the 35-year-old Haye, whose goal is to reclaim the heavyweight championship of the world.

Haye wants to win all the belts in the division, and he’s ready to face champions Tyson Fury, Deontay Wilder and face the winner of the Vyachaslav Glaszkov – Charles Martin fight. Along the way, Haye wants to take the popular British heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua’s scalp and add it to his collection of big names he’s beaten during his career.

De Mori may retire if he beats Haye

De Mori may retire if he beats Haye

Little known fringe contender Mark De Mori is talking about potentially retiring from the sport if he knocks out 35-year-old David Haye in their heavyweight fight this month on January 16th at the O2 Arena in London, England. De Mori, 33, wants to retire on a high point and he feels that a victory over the ring rusty Haye would be potentially a great way for him to leave boxing.

De Mori is an underdog in this fight despite the fact that Haye hasn’t fought in almost 4 years. Most fans believe that Haye will have no trouble beating De Mori, but you never know when you’ve got someone who has been out of action or as long as Haye has. He last fought in 2012 in beating Dereck Chisora. Haye’s last serious fight was against Wladimir Klitschko in 2011, and he looked really poor in that fight.

Fury: Absolutely NO Interest in David Haye Fight

Tyson Fury has again confirmed that he will not fight returning countryman, David Haye, under any circumstances, claiming he would rather vacate any titles on principle should the ‘Hayemaker’ work his way into a mandatory position to fight for them.

Fury remains adamant that former WBA champ, Haye, will never get a shot at any of the IBF/WBO/WBA heavyweight titles as long as he owns them, given that he pulled out of fighting Fury twice shortly before he retired in 2013, costing the 6’9″ Brit his ranking at the time and delaying his eventual shot at Klitschko.
