That is the elite company welterweight champions Danny Garcia and Keith Thurman will join when they meet in just the 10th unification in division history on Saturday, March 4 on SHOWTIMECHAMPIONSHIP BOXING on CBS, presented by Premier Boxing Champions, from Barclays Center, the home of BROOKLYN BOXING™, live on CBS from 9-11 p.m. ET/6-8 p.m. PT.

Garcia, the WBC titleholder, and Thurman, the WBA champion, will unify the exact same titles that Leonard (WBC) and Hearns (WBA) unified in their 1981 Fight of the Year.

Danny “Swift” Garcia (33-0, 19 KOs) got his tune-up fight against Samuel Vargas (25-3-1, 13 KOs) out of the way on Saturday night in beating him by a 7th round TKO in front of his Philly fans at the Lacouras Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The 28-year-old Garcia bludgeoned the hapless Vargas against the ropes in the 7th until the fight was halted by referee Gary Rosato. It was too one-sided for Rosato to let the mismatch continue. The official time of the stoppage was at 2:17 of round 7.
