Broner is hilarious no meaning

Thanks Patrick!

Limey Jay, I like that brashness. The young Duran, RJJ, SR Leonard, Ali, Hagler, Hamed, Floyd, to name just a few, they all entered the ring with that same attitude and swagger that Broner is showing. But after a few years, and some tough grueling fights, maybe getting knocked down, or an injury or two that brashness kinda goes away. I say enjoy it in Broner while it lasts. Lastly, on a different note, let me say this again, too many in here rate fighters, weirdly, on some sort of personality test/likeability scale. To them I say, who cares if you like a fighter? Simply rate fighters by what they display IN the ring, and be objective. And right now, objectively, Broner is about as good as it gets.

Patrick guys know the score , anyone who thinks broner is all smoke and mirrors need to wise up.
Like him or loathe him the guy has real talent, and a spiteful streak , a deadly combination.
I can’t say I like the bloke, but I recognise his skills, and understand the persona, it sells tickets and garners attention.
In all honesty I,d like a little less brashness , but hey I,m a 42 year old man , it smacks of being a bit immature, maybe if I was in my twenties it wouldn,t bother me as much , I might find it funny, but i ain’t .
Anyhow like he cares what I think when he is cashing his cheque.
As for Rees , I like the guy and know he will have a real go, but it won’t end well for him, broner will make him look clumsy and crude, I hope he don’t suffer too much but methinks he will.

Let me add this. Get ready for the haters to instantly, post-fight, start asking ‘when is Broner going to face some real competition?’ I’m not saying this to knock Rees, he’s a good fighter who comes to fight, but Broner is going to make it look easy and make short work of him.

Posted February 14, 2013 10:07 pm

Sredmond, thank you for saving me a lot of typing. I could not have said it better. Well done, again!

Posted February 14, 2013 9:38 pm

That’s freakin hilarious. You’re comparing Calzaghe to Rees?? I guess they’re both Welsh at least…

Posted February 14, 2013 6:20 pm

Is it weird that Broner’s English is better than Rees?

Posted February 14, 2013 6:16 pm

wanna see him fight Gamboa dammit! wanna see who gets the better of it when they exchange. They are always way faster than their opponent, I wanna to see whos faster with better reflexes

Posted February 14, 2013 6:14 pm

Who cares what his kids sees or thinks? are you a family planner or social worker? NO you are just a guy who does NOT like Broner (which is fine) but that does not change his talent or increasing marketability… Broner has 0 “Bad Boy Currency” compared to Mike Tyson who did everything imaginable and still sold out venue after venue and PPV after PPV… Boxing is NOT a gentlemans sport, and thus hardcore personas find a home within its relatively non-judgemental confines… Whats the worst Broner has done? comb his hair? dance? talk trash? give me a break the guy is doing what he has to in order to become a star…

Broner go nowhere after Rees knockout his ass out. This kind of fighter can’t carry the good image of the sport. Yes he can make good money in boxing as long as he is winning but he can’t be a future face of boxing even his own kid can’t see a good image and words from him.

Posted February 14, 2013 4:24 pm

Those with closed mouths in boxing have SMALL pockets, Broner is becoming a regular on HBO because he is promoting himself and realizes that this is NOT just sport its entertainment… Most boxers cannot endorse a DAMN thing so the money comes from purses and if you are bland, corny or dry it either takes you a LONNNGGGGG time to catch on or you never do… Broner is riding the Mayweather comparisons and if he keeps winning he will cash in….

Posted February 14, 2013 1:37 pm

Chicago guy

Broner is already proclaiming himself as best fighter of defeating nobodies.

Posted February 14, 2013 12:41 pm

I have a HARD time understanding why some actually seem to hate Broner? The guy is exciting, talented and he is bringing eyeballs to the sport…If you think that guys with NO personality and limited skills are going to revitilize the sport you have ANOTHER thing coming…Broner took on the top LW in the world during his debut and blew him out, YET AGAIN people seem p he did not struggle with DeMarco? Rees had success at LW and he now plies his trade at 135, is it Broners fault that he is the MORE talented fighter? the notion that he is supposed to be fighting ANOTHER 20 pounds higher is really an indirect compliment to his skills because history shows us that is one HELL of a leap…Let Broner finish putting his stamp on 135 starting with Ree’s bald head…

Posted February 14, 2013 11:49 am

Broner is NOBODYS Jr MW I see and crew are already prepping for the beatdown he is going to lay on Gavin Rees who has ACTUALLY fought above 135 pounds 16 times and contended against a fighter of Kotelniks quality (I thought he outboxed Alexander)… Rees had a title at 140 (briefly) meanwhile Broner has had EXACTLY one fight at 135 pounds (Who’s bigger?)… I know, I know its rude to allow facts to get in the way of fantasy but this is just how it is..Forget notions of what you feel is fair play, the brash, arrogant, brazen, hair brushing and flashy Broner being defeated by the humble English pub dwellar with the common touch and blue collar attitude… This is a triumph of skill and speed over the silly good guy routine… Ree’s could have Zeus, Apollo, Hercules and Aries in his corner and the guy is getting saddled with a LOSS, the only redemption is to what extent he can minimize the damage.

Ive followed Rees throughout his long, stop-start career. he is very much a live fighter for Broner to face. Hes tough as they come, busy and will keep coming at Broner (which could be Rees’s un-doing!) . I still think Broner will win the contest but hopefully Gavin will prove to everyone that he is a world class fighter. He will certainly give it his all anyways.

HBO, I want to see a fight. That I have a question mark about who will the fight. This one everybody knows the outcome. Promoters better start putting better fights, stop protecting your cow milk. At the end they will expose, Ponce De Leon seems already did that against Broner. Broner- Ponce De Leon II next.

Posted February 14, 2013 6:41 am

Edgar Guevara

That should be next on the schedule. I hope DLH doesn’t let that fight go by. Broner needs to prove he can beat Ponce De Leon. Many people said: Ponce De Leon won, Broner needs to erase that.

Agree 100%

It is a fair fight. People will watch Gamboa, then watching this guy Rees.

Posted February 14, 2013 6:35 am

Gamboa-Broner are fights we need to see. Both fighters bring skills to the table. Rees is a walk to the park for Broner. I don’t know how HBO puts fights like this.

Posted February 14, 2013 6:34 am

Chiccago guy

Rees will be popular after he won the fight by knockout. Haters and Broner ass kisser may say it was a lucky punch

Posted February 14, 2013 1:21 am

i dnt see what chance rees gots except to try to outwork broner and use his footwork to get in and out even then stilll wont be enough to beat broner rees is a tough fighter but broner just on a different level and different leauge i think broner going to land that jab at will then the right hand and uppercut and body shots rees face going to be bloody and briuse up either his corner going to stop it or the ref before the 9th round

Posted February 13, 2013 11:21 pm

Gamboa doesn’t have a chance in hell against Broner. Not only is Broner fundamentally much better, but he’s also naturally bigger. Gamboa needs to stay in the division he’s in (not move up) and improve his leaky defense.

Posted February 13, 2013 9:45 pm

Fight Aficionado

With Rees unable to KO a street bum why would Broner give him respect? He can walk right through anything Rees throws and score a KO. Don’t know why HBO approved this fight anyhow. Broner needs to go fight Gamboa who already said he’ll rise in weight to make the bout.

Posted February 13, 2013 9:10 pm

I would rather see De Leon get a rematch for the robbery that Broner got over him, but that will never happen.

Posted February 13, 2013 8:59 pm

I would love to say Rees has a chance, but he doesn’t. On his best day, he could probably make it to the final bell with Broner, but that’s as big a victory as he can expect. Most likely, this fight ends by KO in four or less.

Posted February 13, 2013 8:58 pm

why is broner facing rees if he’s so good. not many rates rees any high.
broner should step up

Posted February 13, 2013 5:50 pm

Rees has enough to make Broner look worse than usual. I think he can make it tough for him. But like Floyd Broner has learned to win rounds if he isn’t knocking you out. These are two top lightweights, but Broner is just looking better than everyone right now.. He was exposed once but I am eager to see if it was just a one time thing or if other fighters can keep giving him trouble. But I knew right away that guys like Demarco are easy for Broner to beat…

Posted February 13, 2013 4:55 pm

TJ That was good brotha I think you mite be rite on that. So if that is the style u think could beat Broner then Abril would be the guy to take him out. Hes got that style down.

Posted February 13, 2013 4:23 pm

Broner is gonna destroy this kid.

Posted February 13, 2013 4:16 pm

Broner’s mental game is a good as his physical game. He’s already working on Rees: “Broner shows me no respect.” Shouldn’t let an opponent get in your head Rees. I agree with Neil (Pomy) Rees won’t make it past the 10th.

Posted February 13, 2013 3:17 pm

Hearn’s put down will do more damage to Broner than Rees will.

Posted February 13, 2013 3:11 pm

This resembles Calzaghe vs Lacy in absolutely NO WAY that is remotely relevant.. Gavin Rees could have the entirety of his countrymen in the arena and Broner is going to beat him sensless, the gap in talent and atheletic gifts is too massive…

Posted February 13, 2013 3:09 pm

limey jay

neil pomy….as much as i respect you and your opinioins my friend i,m stuggling in my mind to imagine a scenario where rees has even the tiniest bit of success, and i like rees , i want him to do well with every fibre of my body, but i fear he will be made to look like punchbag for broner , i hope i,m wrong, and he puts in a good shift.
lets just hope its a fight and not an exhibition.

MNboxingFAN – Sean

Rees is going to get eaten up and outta there early. Broner is like Floyd. I hate him, but damn it if he isn’t good!

Posted February 13, 2013 12:17 pm

Broner by the 10th

Posted February 13, 2013 10:28 am

Rees could have the style to give Broner trouble. Style-wise, boxers/out-fighters struggle with swarmers/in-fighters and Rees’ work-rate is impressive, as is his speed. He is also durable. I still expect Broner to win but I am looking forward to this fight as I think Rees will have his moments. Looking forward to this one.

Posted February 13, 2013 10:26 am

The Rock has the durability, but the wrong style to unravel the problem. Ex champion at the higher weight, Gavin will extend Broner only if he elects to box and make Broner chase him, ie try and close down the range on him… This is not Gavin’s style but is the way to beat Broner, who so far has let every guy come to him and picked them off.

Let Broner have to chase his man and catch a few as he tries to close the range. Don’t give him an easy ride. Let’s see how good his footwork is off of the front foot and how he can work to get his man through the jab.

I personally feel a guy with good fundamental boxing skills on the outside will defeat Broner, who I feel is open to the right hand counter….

Anyone who walks forward without giving angles is easy meat, but a guy who can work the angles and is patient and makes Broner lead can bea him…However, I don’ t feel it will be The Rock on this occasion.

Broner is a HBO hype job, a good fighter, so hyped though.

Posted February 12, 2013 10:30 pm

So Broner need to watch out against Rees.

Posted February 12, 2013 8:36 pm

Rees better show Broner some respect by keeping his gloves high. If he tries to fight with his hands down by his waist, like I’ve seen him do, Broner will make him pay, and pay dearly.
