“My, my, my! Braggadamus was WRONG AGAIN! Kinda kills that “95%” huh?”-Nope. It kills your READING percentage though. I never SAID that I change MY prediction. Guerrero WON on points just as I predicted!!!! Now my WINNING percentage is about 95.01%

OK thanks. I change MY pick and take Berto.”-Well its a GOOD thing that changing MY pick did not change MY prediction. I predicted that Guerrero would WIN on points and I was CORRECT. I am the GREATEST Fight Prophet ever born!!!!!!

Jack Dempsey, yes Max must go. He doesn’t know how to conduct an interview and his Berto bias was nauseous. He even went so far as to call Gurrero a “prospect.” I kid you not. I watched a rerun and he did it. He truly has become a pestulence and must leave forthwith.

Fighters STAY where Mayweather keeps them, its a common misconception that guys choose to lose against Mayweather or decide to play to his strengths, the reality is that there are so many dimensions to his game its not funny…Hatton was a pressure fighter who tried to take his space, Cotto fought him on the ropes, the bigger ODH fought him against the ropes and was outfoxed and outfought… Robert Guerrero looked good because he was in the ring with Berto who has about 40% of Floyd Mayweathers ring smarts, the gap in class will be evident with FMJ, he is unlike ANY fighter in the game…

Where most fighters stay on the outside against Mayflower and get pot-shotted all night, Guerrero’s style of swarming would give Floydie fits. He’d need uncle Roger and a few others with him…

Posted November 26, 2012 11:22 am

All this whining about tough, rugged fights… Surprise Surprise boxing is a HARD sport and its violent and nasty…All fights are not going to be ballets sometimes guys are gonna have to grind it out and win ugly fights… All respect to Guerrero, I thought that Berto would be to physically strong for him but the converse was true… Robert came in strong as hell and he had BETTER legs than Berto who could not stand his ground and keep the fight at an appropriate distance for him to use his handspeed… I loved how Robert called out Berto on the excuses postfight that needs to happen more in boxing all the whining is disgusting absent Robberys, and egregious conduct…

Posted November 26, 2012 11:05 am

It is alot of Berto hatred and I dont really get why.I’m not much of aBerto fan but the truth is the truth. The Ref was terrible. From the holding behind the head and hitting to the 12th round extended about 15 seconds because he didn’t hear the bell. But another truth is…. Berto lost regardless and probably didn’t matter who. was the Ref

I’d say Roy’s good, Kellerman’s not. Roy’s one of the few unbiased ones and having been in in the pro game himself he can always sort out what’s actually happening inside the ring and not trying to impress anybody while Kellerman’s often tries to impress but giving very amateurish estimations or his own limited knowledge observations.

They should definitely get rid of Max Kellerman and Roy Jones Jr. I use to love hearing Tarver talk on Show time he was very good and you could understand him ..

Jack Dempsey

Guerrero is a very good boxer ,,he definitely can box from the out side ,,but it was to his benefit to take the fight to the inside ,,Berto has very long arms and can punch if you give him some distance ,,So Guerrero fought in the inside to smother Berto and it worked for him ,,This is a sign of a great fighter ,,some one that can change their style to their benefit …OH YES !!! Kellerman must go!!!

Posted November 26, 2012 1:47 am

The author here is biased against Guerrero … Here is the truth, both fighters didn’t want to fight fromthe distance , berto was throwing two only two straights shots and than he was bending his head lower down to the guerreros knees and clinch after that,he never tried to do anything else from the distance only when he was in the ropes , on the other side guerrero didn’t want to fight from the outside also and was headbutting berto all night but the holding was done by berto NOT Guerrero as the author claims!

Posted November 26, 2012 1:06 am

The Mad Scientist

I guess Berto must of thought that Guerrero would eventually fold from some of those brutal uppercuts..let’s credit the Ghost toughness because that’s a big part on why he was able to execute his strategy that won him the fight..if Berto would’ve ktfo of the Ghost like most thought the talk of him being a dirty fighter wouldn’t be part of the topic right now.

Posted November 25, 2012 11:16 pm

I have to agree with the commentating, normally I enjoy Jones’ input, but his favoritism for Berto was over the top. Twice I saw Guerrero just laying it on him with many punches in a row and Roy saying “Hey good hook by Berto” and “Good punch by Berto”.

Ernie, those uppers were unreal. Most fighters would have gone down after two or three. Berto must have ripped him 20 times and he only staggered once. Amazing beard.

Posted November 25, 2012 9:29 pm

Exiled Yank

I thought the ref was off his rocker all night. The fighters never knew what was allowed. One round they could hold and hit, the next not, the next 3 rounds, they could hold again. The craziest call was when the ref threatened Berto for extending his arms and pawing for Guerrero. The man couldn’t see! He was just trying to find him so they could get knotted up again and pound on each other. The fight was awesome. I don’t care about dirty tactics, just consistent reffing.

Posted November 25, 2012 9:27 pm

Yes, it was a dirty fight but, as a fighter, you can’t wait all night long for the ref to stop a guy from being dirty, at some point you have to take matters into your own hands and either make the other guy stop or force the ref to do something, and Berto just let Guerrero get away with everything. It was a very different fight for Guerrero, who normally I have not seen fight this dirty, but I guess he took a page from Victor Ortiz and did what he had to do to win. Not only did he come in with his head, he also hit and held, hit Berto on the legs and low away from the ref, mixed in some rabbit punches, it was really the complete package hahahaha… but Berto let him. Just like he let him maul him against the ropes all night. I really don’t see how some people are saying it was a gutsy performance from Berto. I think it was quite the contrary. He was quite content to stay on the ropes all night with Guerrero too close for any real damage and just tried to survive. Any time Berto landed a good shot Guerrero put him back in his place immediately.

Posted November 25, 2012 9:14 pm

It’s Me, Ernie

It’s not easy to survive on the inside against an uppercut the quality of Berto’s, Guerrero just has a beard second to none.

Posted November 25, 2012 9:11 pm

hecdog, Berto was throwing rabbit punches all night. Both guys were roughousing and if the ref lays off both (which he did), the playground (pun intended) is level. And that was a playground brawl. Whew! Those lads came to fight.

We scream at refs for being too intrusive (Cortez). Now we scream at them for letting the guys brawl. You can’t have it both ways—or can you?

Posted November 25, 2012 8:32 pm

That is actually not true. Roy Jones is paid to praise HBO fighters period. He gave Chavez Jr nothing but praise vs Manfredo. RJJ and Steward started off their commentary careers fair, but it’s become painfully obvious HBO is paying them to represent HBO interest.

That’s the kind of war that badly damages both fighters. I’m sure Mayweather was watching wthin that perspective. Now he can fight (and handily beat) The Ghost while also giving him his Retirement Package. At the same time , Mayweather keeps his undefeated record well inhand. What an enviable spot to be in. And like someone said last night while noting Camacho’s fight with Duran, by the time Pac fights May (if ever), it will be too late and no one will really care any longer.

Posted November 25, 2012 6:07 pm

… “Guerrero reminded me a little of Roberto Duran vs Sugar Ray Leonard fight 1” … That fight was a classic where both fighters operated within the rules of the game.. This fight was a pushing, grabbing, holding, head-knocking, rabbit punching, mauling braw.. It was the most out-of-control fight I’ve ever seen at the world championship level.. Both fighters were grabbing, pushing, shoving, and rabbit punching the whole way and the referee never took a point.. Outrageous!!!.. I would have taken 2 points from Guerrero just for throwing about 15 punches after the final bell.. They rang the bell about 20 times for him in case he wasn’t hearing it.. He still would have won the fight on my card… I have no idea why, but I was LMAO… “Ahh Robert? The fight is OVER man.” It’s like he was saying, “Who GAS? I just like to hit Berto. A fight doesn’t have to be happening.”

The funniest part about this is B-Hop and SOG are the dirtiest fighters in the game but they’re the first to cry like prepubescent schoolgirl who’s had her sweets stolen off her the instance someone gives them a taste of their own medicine, no matter how trivial or small it is. B-Hop would roll around the floor in fits of histrionics with a look of agony wretched across his ugly mug if a sparrow shat on his foot. lol. And now we’ve got serial cheat and convicted PED abuser Berto crying about getting roughed up by a blown up featherweight. lol

The irony of all these Berto fans, many of whom are fans of SOG and Snaggletooth B-Hop, crying about Guerrero’ ”dirty tactics” is priceless. When the shoe’s on the other foot, eh? Funny how NONE of them ever have a problem when their boys cheat to high heaven even their boys are unquestionably the dirtiest fighters in the entire sport, eh? lol. Hmmm.. let me see if I can work out why that is? lol. Notice how they not only didn’t complain when SOG used every dirty trick in the book against Kessler and used the top of his grizzled dome to slice Mikkel’s face to ribbons, almost ending his career in the process, but they also continue to defend him and to this day and point blank refuse to concede he’s as dirty as hell or that he benefits greatly, just as his ”idol and mentor” B-Hop does, from ALWAYS having home ADVANTAGE and ALWAYS having American referees presiding over his fights to turn a blind eye to his excessive and flagrant use of illegal tactics. Coincidentally enough none of these grotesque hypocrite whores had a problem with B-Hop’s dirty tactics in the Calzaghe fight either. lol. Snaggletooth butted the crap out of Joe (and some of those butts were vicious and there were plenty of them too) or held and like a lonely octopus every time Calzaghe got within 10 ft of his petrified chicken ass. lol.

Right on the money, Fight Aficionado. Too many refs in the current era of safety first fighters try to “protect” the fighters but ultimately limit the action…ultimately depriving the fans of a great fight.

Would you rather see refs like Joe Cortez or Jay Nady control the outcome?

Guerrero Is Wannabe MMA Figther

They need to get MMB (mixed martial boxing) fighters out of boxing. Driving someone to the ropes by clinching them should be a foul. This isn’t the octagon where you can pin someone against the cage like the boring UFC. The only thing that made that fight interesting was Berto. Berto was fighting the ref and the cheap tactics by Guerrero. Grappling should be a foul period.

There is big questions who would win in pac and martinez vs mayweather. But their all getting old now and showing it. Pac, may, martinez and vitaly have declined and we all know it

Martinez should be fighting at 154, but no one would fight him so he moved up to 160. The idea that he’s a cherry-picker or a guy who only fights smaller guys is ludicrous. He just Chavez Jr. who rehydrates to at least 180. And Pacquiao moved up and fought Clottey, Margacheato, and Cotto in their primes. Ya, he used catchweights, but he’s naturally a smaller dude. He only moved up to WW because that’s where the big names were.

I had to turn off the HBO Berto cheeringleaders , they are pathetic, I encourage every fight fan to do this, it was like Berto was the only one in there, both guys fought dirty, Berto rabbit punching holding Ghost hand, In all reality Berto is not a good fighter, he is maybe a cplus at most, Ghost just plain beat him up palin and simple, Berto needs to find his own style, the philly shell did not work the Floyd shoulder roll did not work, was not a bad fight don’t really want to see a rematch, it was that one sided to me-peace

Posted November 25, 2012 2:11 pm

Both fighters held. Berto for the first six rounds until he got his legs back- guerrero during the second half of the fight. Berto hit Robert with some great shots but Robert hit him with more, more often and Berto was on the verge of going down again in the last few seconds. My hat is off to both fighters. Neither fighter could see for the last few rounds and both showed very big hearts.

Posted November 25, 2012 2:11 pm

Lou was pretty bad last night. His only answer for the constant clinching was to keep separating them. He gave the fighters some hollow warnings that didnt amount to anything. To call it a “fix” is a bit farfetched IMO. Al Haymon is the new Don King-type shady decision receiver and he’s Berto’s manager. Berto was the bigger moneymaker in this matchup. So if anyone was goig to receive rhe benefit of a fix, it would have been him. Plus, Berto did some holding too. I specifically remember his own corner telling him once or twice in between rounds to stop holding and start fighting.

Posted November 25, 2012 2:07 pm

Just Me

Not to mention that thumb in the eye early that really hindered berto, and I am not so sure that was by mistake, the clinching also hindered berto from fighting his fight robert sneaks his dirty tactics in, berto would have won by ko if the fight was fought fairly and at a distance, the ref should have been separating the fighters from the start not one call for roberts holding and hitting, low blows, hitting after the bell?,c’mon give me a break!!

Posted November 25, 2012 2:03 pm

A rematch would be good, but not immediately. Guerrero has bigger fish to fry. I do agree that he initiated most of the clinching by putting his right arm around Berto’s waist and then Berto would cinch it because the arm was right there. And Guerrero blatantly held Berto’s head and punched it to score that 1st knockdown. Still, Guerrero took it Berto all night and earned that victory last night.

Posted November 25, 2012 1:51 pm

I thought the fight was very very good. Both guys impressed me. Roberts very very dirty. I thought it was funny as hell. Ref lou moret. The same guy that let lennox hoold the back of vitalys head and lace vitaly, allowed robert to hold berto’s head and hit him. Signature lennox move. Max kelleman called it ringside and even busted out robert with it to his face in the pot fight interview (great job both identifying it and calling robert out on it max!). Finally! Hbo puts on a good boxing contest on after dark. Maybe hbo can start to hang with epix now. I love epix and dan rafael. I love the sweet science. But I have to say with roberts dirty crap on berto I wanna see him get his ass kicked. The holding and hitting caused berto to get hurt and knocked down and to me that was every bit as sad as allowing robert to hold and warning berto when berto tried to fight. Theofficiating was so one sided one has to wonder why? What were the refs motivations for such a bias in the calls? This sport needs overhauled. We need a ref in a video booth mic’ed up to the ref in the ring. We need to keep boxing a “sport” not a fix. Cause I will tell u what it seemed to me by the refs actions the fix may have been in. I mean its that or lou morets incompetent. Why lou is still officiating is beyond me. I say rematch. Give berto a chance to fight for real without being hindered by a bias ref. Berto fought the ref and robert last night

Posted November 25, 2012 1:35 pm

I liken it to a player going over the ball in a tackle playing football. The refs never pick up on it as they general hav’nt played the game. Gurerro was holding and PROFFESIONALY fouling all night long. As i says u gotta know what your looking at

Posted November 25, 2012 1:32 pm

Gonzo the Dragonborn

I’ve only seen a few of Guerrero’s fights and he’s never held excessively in any of them. However, Berto does it religiously in the fights I’ve seen of his. Like that ugly scat addict SOG and his ”mentor and idol” B-Hop, excessive holding is an integral part of his game plan and they only reason they’re allowed to get away with it is because, with the sole exception of two of B-Hop’s 62 fights where the ref was Canadian for one of them and British for the other, they ALWAYS have American referees presiding over their fights. Out of their 118 combined fights the referee has been a fellow American no fewer than 116 times. lol. A truly shocking statistic. And they’ve had home country refs every single time they’ve fought against foreign opponents except for when B-Hop fought Pascal over in Canada. And B-Hop is the only one out of those serial cheating whores who’s ever fought against an opponent who had a home country ref – and that was only on ONE occasion. lol. Go check the records of Europe’s top fighters and see how oftten the ref comes from a neutral country when they fight against eachother or American fighters over here in Europe? And then take a look at how common it is for the ref to be American when European fighters defend their titles against American fighters on European soil too? It’s not uncommon at all. But when a foreign fighter goes over to the US to fight the referee will ALWAYS be American. lol. B-hop and Ward are unquestionably two, if not the top two, dirtiest fighters in the game and the fact they ALWAYS have fellow home country referees to preside over their fights and turn a convenient blind eye to their excessive holding and flagrant use of illegal tactics, illegal tactics which everyone and their sister’s uncle’s dog can see they’re doing, is a HUGE advantage for them and a HUGE disadvantage for their opponents. And you cats wonder why these dirty f@cks are so reluctant or point blank refuse to travel overseas to fight in countries where they might not nessesarily have a tag-team partner in place to turn a blind eye to their flagrant cheating and help facilitate their paths to victory? lol

Posted November 25, 2012 1:31 pm

I’ll agree with Padre on this fight. I’d only add that I found the most excitement in the first two rounds and the last two. Still, not what I’d call fight of the year material.

Posted November 25, 2012 1:06 pm

Hey Jeff Meyers… look man, even Bertos corner new he was the one doing all 90 percent of the holding. why else would they tell him between rounds ” Andre, your holding this guy every time he come in on you..knock that stuff off, it’s BS, and go to work” Evidently your ass bias as the HBO crew, what about when berto blatantly hit Guerrero behind the head multiple times? suposedly in retaliation from the (LEGAL) side of the head shots from Guerrero when Andre was HOLDING Roberts right arm!! Doesn’t much matter end the end does it..Berto got whipped AGAIN by a guy moving up in weight…And whined like a little kid AGAIN after the fight!!

I thought the holding went both ways-In the early rounds when Berto was in trouble and trying to get his legs back it was Berto that was doing most of the holding, in the first six rounds you could hardly see a time when Berto wasn’t holding on to Gurerroro’s right hand, at the time Berto would have been knocked out cold if he hadn’t hung on, but at the time it was a good fight tactic. As the fight progressed and Berto got his legs back Gurerroro turned to the hold tactic to get the best of Berto. Now I will say that Berto landed some excellent upper cuts inside-however Gurerroro landed more of them, many more and continued to work Berto’s body inside when he wasn’t being held. Now considing that toward the end of the fight neither man could see very well they both employed rough house tactics to survive during times they were hurt, but all in all Gurerroro simply out worked and out fought Berto. Never have I seen a fight where two men displayed a bigger heart and did what ever it took to win. This was a great display of champion heart by both men. I have always liked Robert but now I have a new found respect, he has shown me that he can adapt to what ever the fight calls for to pull out a win. He showed me tremendous heart and courage.

I thought the holding went both ways-In the early rounds when Berto was in trouble and trying to get his legs back it was Berto that was doing most of the holding, in the first six rounds you could hardly see a time when Berto wasn’t holding on to Gurerroro’s right hand, at the time Berto would have been knocked out cold if he hadn’t hung on, it was a good fight tactic. As the fight progressed and Berto got his legs back Gurerroro turned to the hold tactic to get the best of Berto. I thought the ghost fought a smart fight last night. They were both guilty of dirty tactics and the ghost prevailed. As for the commentators, adsolute garbage! After about three rounds i have to watch the fight with no sound because they favor certain fighters and it’s very apperent. Roy jr was the only guy giving the ghost his dues when he landed good clean shots. The commentators can have an effect on how people watch the fight praising one fighter more than the other. That is not commentating in my book. That’s cheering.

Lou Moret should have taken a point away from himself on a few occasions for a poor job. Where was he when the final bell rang? Adjusting his hearing-aid?

Posted November 25, 2012 12:32 pm

Guerrero fought a perfect fight. Berto needs a NEW trainer asap! He doesnt adjust or listen. Berto hasnt progressed like many thought he would. He stood in front of Guerrero all night. No angles, feints or combinations. Simply pawed out with the jab and “took punishment” on the inside. Its obvious Tony cant get him to adjust . Look for a new trainer asap before people write him off.

It depends on who you are rooting for if you like Guerrero ,then Berto was the guilty one with the holding and hitting behind the head ,,if you like Berto then Guerrero was the guilty one …

Berto continually held.

Guerrero is a bum and a dirty fighter with no power. Now keith thurman thats a fighter.

Credit to Guerrero for a smart and gutsy fight. For me the jury is still out on wether he is or isn’t a top fighter, but he certainly has a lot of will, a good chin and can follow a game plan. Berto, on the other hand, has probably become a gatekeeper after last night. He let what was supposed to be a smaller guy push him around all night, he had absolutely no legs except to back up into the ropes, threw about three combinations all night and looked more interested in posing like Mayweather than in actually slipping punches.

the ref’s fault, there should be no argument here folks.silly old useless CNUT!

Posted November 25, 2012 11:22 am

Can someone tell me why Berto can not move leterally? Why he has no head movement? And why he never feints? He needs a knew trainer.

Just watched the fight again on replay, and here’s my opinion. Berto landed some really good shots, but for the most part, he seemed to be holding and eating leather all night. Guerrero simply out gunned him. I’m not going to comment on “dirty tactics” because both fighters were sloppy and awkward. I did hear Berto’s corner tell him to “stop holding so much, we can’t have that!” As for the announcers, “We’re witnessing a page of boxing history here tonight” was just stupid. I think the decision was correct.

Anonymous – greed, corruption, and biased politics is what’s wrong with boxing, a long with biased fans that allow it to happen, as long as their favorite fighter isn’t the one victimized. All boxers, even Ray Leonard, play politics and take a less risk vs huge reward type of mindset when picking their fights. Pacman and Martinez are guilty of it as well. Manny with his catchweights and waiting for fighters to lose before challenging them. Martinez with his determination to pick on smaller fighters, instead of moving up and talking on some real challengers. They’re all guilty, but fans and their biased allow the corruption to continue. Just like people were cheering for Mares after he landed every low blow. Those same fans would be calling bloody murder if the other guy did the same and got away with it. That’s the reality of boxing.

Why oh Why Ref , Why did you do it…….

Posted November 25, 2012 11:00 am

the ghost did fight dirty but Berri should have adjusted. he allowed the ghost to tie him up, push him back and out work him. he looked off balance, could not throw more than a couple punches. his footwork was horrible. if he used his feet he would have won easily, picking his spots but I am convinced he us not that good.

The Prince- no beef with you brother but your way of thinking is whats wrong with boxing. You hope Floyd doesn’t REWARD The Ghost with a big money fight lol. Thats why I wanna see Floyd either get the hell out of boxing or get stopped cause he’s suppose to fight the top guys and thats that. It’s about the best fighting the most qualified not what your talking about. I would rather see him either fight Pacman or Martinez-if Ray Leonard was in Floyd position he would’ve been fought both Pac and Martinez not sit around talk about how great he is. This sport is to tough with some of the fans we have-Hopkins and many others been doing lil tricky things but now y’all wanna single out Mares everytime and give cherry pickers like Mayweather and Donair all the glory. I hope they both get clipped in their next fights lmao. The ref and judges have difficults jobs-the fighters have a difficult job-the fans and the commentators have it easiest yet their the one’s thats messing up boxing with all the complaining

I agree with the author. Like Mares it seems like fighters know they can fight dirty, if they have a ref that will let them get away with it and even punish the other fighter, if they retaliate. It’s wrong and it should stop. I hope Floyd doesn’t reward Guerrero with a big money fight.

Berto had the ghosts right arm locked under his armpit half the fight. He also did some behind the head punches .Stricktly illegal. Both fighters were dirty at times but Berto the biggest offender .Wasnt a great boxing match .But it was one of the best brawls i have seen. Both guys have much guts,And can take big punches.Ref should have been tougher on both of them.

Jim Lamply, Max Kellerman and some of you fans are cry babies. Boxing to brutal of a sport for all these soft spectators my god. One minute your yelling let them fight-the next break them up. Oh here’s a low blow-he thre w elbow. The ref warned Berto all night-well maybe cause Berto was freaking holding all night-even Berto’s freaking corner was sayn this all got damn night people. All you guys do is listen to Lamply and Kellerman all the time-did you notice while they were complaining about the ref Roy Jones wasn’t? Berto hit behind the hit Jim Lamply-rules are got damn rules-he can’t do that-but Lmaply and Kellerman seem to think it was okay for cryn out loud

The biggest joke in history: Floyd accepting a fight with Guerrero!

Posted November 25, 2012 10:26 am

If Guerrero is allowed to fight like this, the only person that could probably beat him is Hopkins. Nothing to “love” about this fight. Obviously the ref was hand-picked to allow the Guerrero love-in. “Love-in” as in trying to give Berto a hickey behind the ear all night. Boxing has rules. It is not a slime-fest. You like stuff like this, go to a cheap bar after closing hours.

If there was anything to be really excited about last night his name is Keith Thurman. That kid can crack.

Posted November 25, 2012 10:16 am

I don’t think the ref was that much of a factor. As the first poster commented the rules are simple and Guerrero used brilliant ring tactics to eliminate Berto’s fast punches. The Ghost knew exactly how to nullify any advantages Berto had by smothering his punches, staying busy and fighting on the inside. Most of today’s fighters have no idea how to do so. I also think the fight in general was just okay. The HBO commentators acted as if we were witnessing boxing history. Nonsense. This was a fight that was fought closely and brutally but it was also rather boring. A fight with lots of infighting is simply not exciting to watch. FOTY? Oh please. That just tells you what a crappy year boxing has had (or at least HBO boxing). It was a decent fight but hardly the fight of the year.

Yup, ‘dirty fighting’…and lopsided reffing, was the story of the fight.

Guerrero’s first knockdown was from holding the head and punching with the other hand. Cheap tactics. That basically changed the fight. I don’t even like Berto but he showed some balls by not quitting. I seriously doubt Guerrero will get a fight with Mayweather or Pacquiao. The guy doesn’t fight clean.

Posted November 25, 2012 10:08 am

Robert Guerrero and Andre Berto fought a great and exciting fight last night that MAY get fight of the year. Both fighters were holding and fighting out of the control at times, but at the same time doing what they had to do to win. Berto, which is one of my favorite fighters…but also a fighter I just cannot figure out(he get’s discouraged at times) is one of if not the fastest fighter out there. He just needs another trainer who can channel those talents to the ring. The ghost got a blue collar victory and he’s got the money fight coming up next. Money Mayweather(THE BEST!) will take on this fight since Guerrero is not as fast and can get hit…although Guerrero may surprise Money May with a different style of boxing .. Mayweather wins by KO in late rounds or decision. I do want to say something about the people whining about Guerrero holding and fighting “dirty”… to those people I say GET OVER IT!!! …we were just entertained by a great match. …just sayin’

Posted November 25, 2012 9:57 am

I saw Berto holding just at least as much. While in close, Guerrero was constantly throwing punches but leading with his head, which is illegal. However, Berto’s hitting to the back of the head is down right dangerous. To many influenced by Max kellerman who did a very poor job last night

Exiled Yank

Great fight! Ref was crap.

Posted November 25, 2012 9:51 am

Berto was the one holding Jeff Meyers!!! If you don’t believe it look at the Ortiz fight it is a carbon copy every time Berto gets hurt in a fight he jabs and grabs ala John Ruiz, holds his opponents right hand with his left and throws uppercuts. Berto had several problems 1 is he held held his opponents non dominant hand so this wasn’t very effective for Berto bc Guerros left (power hand) was free. Bertos 2nd problem is he came out trying to use the shoulder roll and it was more than obvious he doesn’t know how to use that style properly and got put down hard in both the 1st and 2nd. From there Berto was jab and grab, followed by uppercuts while holding his opponents right hand. Berto was another HBO hype job nothing more. I hate when I watch a fight and the house fighter is being outclassed and you have the 3 stooges calling the fight with bias towards the house fighter. Berto was usin the juice and still lost to Collazo, but when you have the judges in your pocket it’s hard to lose. Bye bye Berto.

Public Enemy

Good win for Gurerroro, him and his wife have been through some hard times.. Berto without his PEDs is just not the same.. and we all know he robbed Collazo back when they fought…

Have to agree with you author! Good fight marred by the cage tactics used by Guerrero. Tired of seeing boxers just push their opponent to the fence like in the UFC. Ward, as good as he is, is good at pushing his opponent to the ropes with his shoulders. Guerrero took it one step further with all the clinching.

Truth Hurts

Damn… Berto’s face looks like he got hit by a mack truck. I don’t remember the last time I saw a boxer have to put on a pair of big sunglasses right after a fight to hide all the brutal damage from the audience and cameras. Both eyes were completely swollen shut with huge welts, hemotomas and cuts around them. I’d like to see his face tomorrow morning. He probably won’t be able to see for a week. The Ghost is one tough hombre and showed that he’s capable of gutting it out in the trenches with really down and dirty infighting. The ref could’ve done a better job with keeping the fight a little cleaner though. There was too much holding, wrestling and hitting behind the head on the part of both fighters. At the same time, I can’t stand it when a ref separates two fighters every ten seconds for being in too close. You gotta let them fight, and that’s exactly what happened tonight. One hell of a fight!

Posted November 25, 2012 7:37 am

Utter non sense concerning the ref. Finally a ref that let them fight. The rules are very clear IF YOU HANDS ARE FREE FIGHT AND GET OUT. Simple. Berto underestimated The Ghost like many others and didnt expect him to be so good and game. WTF was that Mayweather/Bronner BS. with the shoulder roll nonsense. The Ghost put that BS to rest. They can fight 100 times and 99 times The Ghost will win. Dont whine or blame the ref he did a great job understanding that boxing is NOT ONLY FROM THE OUTSIDE BUT INSIDE FIGHTING. Most box fans have forgotten this. They both fought in the trenches. What about Berto hitting behind the head. Please stop this HE LOST GOT BEAT PERIOD. LIVE WITH IT and stop whining.
