Killing Moon The Soothsayer

RIP Champ….

Posted November 24, 2012 2:02 pm

I was never a big Hector Camacho fan, but I did watch many of his fights
and consider him one of better fighters, in a time where you had great fighters. The guy was just amazing with his speed and timing and he could put you on your ass . People will talk about how he ran in the ring but he never was knocked out, and challenged fighters in their prime. And to me a prime Camacho would run circles around any of the current welterweight champions including Mayweather and Pacquiao. Rest in peace champ and God bless your family.

I was certainly entertain for many years as a boxing fan watching “The macho man” with “it’s Macho Time”. he was a charismatic and had a flare for the dramatic in the ring, he had speed most boxer of his time wish they had. He had the skills in the ring and thats all that i saw in him. It’s simple for those that don’t understand boxing to easily comment on his drug usage and personal troubles as if it matter in the ring. Those kind of comments are best reserve for the tabloids. I only care who Macho “the fighter was! May he rest in peace.

Unless one of you are GOD ALMIGHTY; you don’t have a HEAVEN or HELL to put anyone in. My prayers go out to his family and I pray he pulls through.

Won’t say Rest in peace…yet….We’ll see what Camacho’s family decides…What i will do however, is say to people that they should be ashamed of them self saying bad things about Camacho now….You are all cowards sitting with your di-ck in your hands….Camacho was a great boxer….And after all is said and done…That is all you should think of on a boxing-fansite….If you want to kick a brain-dead man in the head..because of the mistakes he made in his life…You should go to a hate-site of some sorts…Shame on any of you who have said bad things on this thread.

Camacho’s body is now rotting away. The maggots are eating him from the inside out. All that charisma and talent for the maggots to feast on. How sad this state of affairs. macho at one time seemed invincible. I thought he would wake up from this. He didn’t. No more Macho time. He is a human, nothing more. Macho time no more. The maggots have got Camacho now.

He didn’t die cause them drugs. He died of a gunshot not an overdose or a drug sale gone wrong. The motive of the murder so far is undetermined and perhaps he wasn’t even the target. Pointing to his drug use and abuse as motive of his dead without any further information is way beyond brain dead. Of course he made his choices and he did not denied his use of drugs. I remember him in an interview when asked if he was a user.. he reponded that he like to enjoy life by all means that would bring him pleassure. Yes, he made his choices. Not a single person deserve to die for being an user. People close to him loved him and respected him and many not so close to him as well. The scientific comunity has determined that addiction is a sickness. now loosing respect for the addict or the sick is anyone choice and they are entittle to that. I am pretty sure Macho didn’t mind loosing the respect from those that he didn’t even knew. I know I wouldn’t…

Te Tumbo and all of you real boxing fans — excellent comments. Macho Camacho is a legend and should be memorialized as such and someone was loved by his family and friends. Who else matter? No one. Just the real boxing fans and his loved ones. Everyone else who wants to preach against him go take a hike.

I’ll pray for Macho Man and his family! I always went against him but the fighter I was going for lost 99% of the time. Great fighter and you can say created a style thats been imitated 1000 times but never with the same success. And yes GREAT POST TE TUMBO! True boxing fans here

@Killing Moon The Soothsayer …yes he is dead. the director at the medical center pronounced him dead this morning. He also said there is nothing that can be done or something like that. His heart still beating and his lungs breathing, but only artificially. They are waiting for his family to call the shot to pull the plug on him and also because he is a organ donor. i believe his family will decide friday (tomorrow). here is for all of you who can understand spanish. Google and you will find the latest news related. They will have the memorials (2) at Bayamon where he was born and another at NY where he was raised.

Nice post tumbo, that’s a back to Macho. It is sad that in my believe he never got the credit he deserved. He had a HOF career in my opinion and still did not get the credit. It took his drug demons and runs with the law to get him in the news and now this tragic inccident for many people to express love and appreciation for one of the best classy boxer that ever lived. May god give peace to his soul. I wont miss him in the ring thnx to youtube, but i will miss his wild, down to earth and crazy behavior outside the ring.

Drago – no one here is condoning his ultimate lifestyle or choices in life what we are mourning is a former world Champion and his current situation. He was someones son, someones Dad and like so many others in life who make bad choices still loved by the ones who knew the real person… He gave Boxing all he had and Boxing Promoters ripped him off and left him broke.. You’re entitled to your opinion and you do not have to mourn the former champion but you sure as hell have no right to make light of someones death.. That is something that you and what ever God you look up to will have to someday come to terms with.. Have a Happy Thanksgiving and hopefully no one in your family who you love goes down the wrong path in life…

tHIS bOXTRAMUS IS A SICK DUDE. GREATEST PROPHET OF ALL TIMES…???? Why do youe ven post that crap? Hector may have been a big pain in the behind but he was an original. Now all we get are copycats. I always wanted to see him lose and fortunately, I was wrong many times when Hector amazing speed and slills would take over his opponents and made it ook sooooo easy. Too bad there will only be one.

Hector Camacho is one of my all time favorite fighters. He was one of the purest boxers I’ve ever seen….I hate that this happened. Maybe it’s just a part of getting old, but seeing all of these fighters/trainers pass and suffer tragedies has really been hitting home with me. All I can say is I wish Hector and his family the best.

Posted November 21, 2012 10:51 pm

When Hector was fighting he was my favorite boxer. Something about his style. There was none like it. It was so hard for the other fighter to hit him. I was always excited to see him fight. Prayers to him and family. So sad, so sad

Posted November 21, 2012 6:30 pm

I’d like to add my condolences to the Puerto Rican fans and Hectors family. It sounds like the Macho Man is beyond medical help now.

That was the best post Ive ever read of yours Tumbo . It was spot on. Hector was one stubborn mofo , he managed to last the distance against Chavez, Trinidad and De La Hoya when Hector was past his best. He was also one of the most gifted fighters I ever had the privilege of watching . Im not here to judge anyone so what Camacho did out the ring was his biz not mine.

Posted November 21, 2012 5:13 pm

tragic…or is it…i think it is more sad….they found 10 bags of coke in the car…kids use this as an example not what to be when you have all that talent that god gives you…i pray for him and wish him well as a human being but to say it is tragic is not correct…very sad though

Posted November 21, 2012 4:54 pm

te tumbo – A truly great post. Respect

Posted November 21, 2012 4:42 pm

Camacho Sr was a victim of those NYC crime ridden neighborhoods that took so many young PR’s lives from them with Drugs and Violence.. It’s a miracle he survived period but I guess it may be his last time.. MACHO TIME!!! funny kid.. Remember him joking after the Chavez fight.. OF Course he hurt me I’m pissing Blood. Al the time smiling and never making any excuses???

Posted November 21, 2012 4:22 pm

Tumbo – Very nice post you have my respect for it.. Sad times in Boxing.. Camacho Sr. was actually a very nice guy always clowning around and trying to get a laugh out of everyone around him.. it’s unfotunate that those Great Fighters of the 80’s were all ripped off by crooked promoters like Don King.. Didn’t want to see Camacho end up like this.. reminds me of Tapia, Vernon and Gatti.. all Trajic endings.. I don’t believe Camacho will survive this but I will pray for the guy.. he inspired a lot of Boxers like Shamba Mitchell, Chop Chop Corely, Prince Hamed etc etc who wanted to have that Camacho Flair..

Posted November 21, 2012 4:19 pm

Te Tumbo- Amen. I’ll always remember Camacho for 2 things: tthe one time I saw Camacho fight live when he won his first tittle against Bazooka Limón and he was like human whirlwind. And second, his choosing Chevi El Ponsoñu (a character on local PR TV that basically made fun of him and the way he talked) sing the PR National anthem before the Chávez fight. To me those are the perfect examples of him in and out of the ring.

Hector was lost to the Sport of Boxing a long time ago but will be remembered as one of its greatest performers of All time. nobody displayed more brilliant footwork than Camacho in my lifetime. i dare say it was superior to Ali’s or Robinson’s and unlike notoriously evasive fighters like whittaker, Camacho’s footwork was designed to dig-IN to an opponent NOT get away. only Sanchez displayed greater mastery of offensive and defensive punching range and primarily because he was in range 95% of the time compared to Camacho’s 85%–90%. moreover, in wins and losses, Camacho displayed true grit and a street-stubborn reluctance to fold or bow down to an opponent. the type of Fighter who even while recognizing he was being beat, couldn’t resist his instinct to hit and fight back. that’s how I’ll remember Hector “Macho” Camacho. everything else is a distraction, none of my business, and little more than the boring (albeit tragic) and repetitive details of thug life. how many times have we read about that before? and what true fight-fan wants to remember Camacho like that anyway? I won’t.

ESPN said there were 10 bags of cocaine in the vehicle. Sad he got involved in that lifestyle. Let’s hope for his recovery.

Posted November 21, 2012 12:35 pm

Hector was a true NY-Rican. Raised in Spanish Harlem, Hector was the best of his era. A broken hand sapped him of his true power in his left hand and made him more of a defensive fighter. Rumors that “El Chapo” stole his heart were always media rhetoric for a guy who was as charismatic as he was talented. Sadly, in Camacho’s era, he made more money selling drugs than he did in the ring. He owned the streets like he owned the ring. Sadly, the streets much like boxing, caught up to Hector. Wishing this true NYC Boxing Icon a rapid recovery. He made Boricuas PROUD! Get better soon, champ!

NO CLUE, I called one of my friends still at the Rio Piedras Medical Center and he said that Hector suffered a cardiac arrest a couple of hours ago and was artificially kept alive. According to him things aren’t looking really good but the medical staff attending Camacho are waiting hopefully for positive signs.

EZ E . tnx for the heads’up.. i never buy the rumors before conclusive proof arrives but the type of wounds MAcho sustained makes survival a touch and go really… he is a tough guy but from what i’ve been hearing his last 5-10 years was non stop party ride with all the attributes ala coke, boozing so he is not 100 percent solid health wise going into this scrape

Posted November 21, 2012 6:54 am

NO CLUE, no he HASN’T passed away. They are stablizing him the best they can and was given blood and liquids to keep him alive. He has assimilated them but he’s still in critical condition and there hasn’t been much improvement. The doctors have done pratically all could up til now and are waiting/hoping for a positive response.

By the way, Ismael Leandry said that he was shot only once, not seveal times like many sources previously said. He was hit on the left side of his face, hit his cheekbone, diverted through his face and lodged in ihs upper spine area. According to Leandry Camacho’s brother was given this info by one of the attending Doctors.

I just got back from El Centro Medico in Rio Piedras and spoke personally to Ismael Landray, his personal advisor. He’s fighting for his life. The area was packed. According to Ismael the Doctors say that these wounds would’ve killed most anyone. Fighters, trainers, promoters and other sports folks were already there before I arrived about hours ago.

I hope and pray he pulls through. On a sidenote; WHY WOULD ANYONE with a ounce of RESPECT AND DIGNITY want to recieve credit for reporting someone’s death. I don’t know where some of you come from; or how you were raised; but seriously; YOU NEED TO GET A LIFE!!!!!

Posted November 21, 2012 3:40 am

For what it’s worth, according to news in PR he’s still alive (11:30 pm). He was shot in the face and neck but the neck bullet went down into the shoulder rather than up into his brain. Apparently it was a car-to-car shooting and Camacho was found on the floor. Police reports say it was a massive shoot out and there were tons of shells on the scene.
