I have grave doubts about Price’s chin, BUT this was not a knockdown, he was caught off balance by Pala’s arm. Price performed well here, but Pala was only rated about 80 in the world at the time (still better than most of Wilders comp.) so he needs to ”gradually” step up.

I also liked the way he dealt with the knock-down. Ticked himself off, for being complacent, covered up to weather the storm, and then got mobile to get the legs under him.
A sure sign of maturity, it might just be that the Thompson defeats were a blessing in disguise.

Yep, his size is actually a disadvantage, inparticular his long arms make it easy for opponents to get inside, and his overall bulk means it’s easy for opponents to side step him and clip him with the short hook, which is what Thompson did.
Price needs to combat this by improving his footwork, which was evident on occasion during this fight.
Jab and footwork, the rest will fall into place.

This match vs Pala shows a much improved David Price. He’s now snapping out the jab with some authority rather than just pawing with it. Pala’s forearm to the side of the head seems to indicate more of a balance issue for the scouser than a weak beard – at least in my view. The man is what – 6’8”? Maybe having such a long frame has something to do with that. As for Price’s power, it’s clearly there and continues to be his strongest asset, as was demonstrated this fight. Let’s hope to see more good things from David as he moves forward with his career. He seems to be a very decent fellow and would make a very popular world champion if he can ultimately reach that goa

Pala is from denmark? thats funny i thought he was from sweden or norway

i never knew denmark had fighters as good as pala.

Posted April 14, 2014 5:44 am

Once he is settled, his right hand is about the best out there, and will always make a fight interesting. He is probably the hardest puncher in the division.

Posted April 14, 2014 5:25 am

Price suffered more of an off balance knockdown and was not hurt, but it did show that his balance and footwork can be poor. The big difference was when he used his jab properly, no pawing and snaping it more to bring it back once thrown. He NEEDs that punch, it sets everything up, his right hand, balance, pace, composure, and confidence.

@: I agree that Pulev has a really good chance at beating Fury. I’d like Pulev and would also like to see him fight Wilder and the winner of Stiverne vs. Arreola. And I’m fully aware that there’s a big world outside the U.S., as I’ve traveled to other countries.

I’m not a big Fury fan or anything, as the despicable LIAR below keeps saying, I just happen to like him more than the other HWs from the UK. But it wouldn’t bother me a bit to see Fury get KTFO and/or beat a couple times. Though I can almost assure you that Price will never beat him. Fury can take a couple of hard shots, Price can’t.

Some very original and witty “momma” put downs. Where did you come up with those? Oh I see, from me in the last post. You’re unoriginal and your supposed “facts” are your opinions without any substance from a scatter brain inside that horrifically rude head.

No one cares about your fantasy abode that doesn’t exist although I can see why you need all those bathrooms for the amount of shizen you dribble. Go back to MMA and try to intimidate those thick numbskulls, you’d be in good company.

Squared-Circle Real Talk (a.k.a. LionKing)

Nobody runs scared of Price…FACT!!! Fury would beat the sh*t outta Davey “The Glass Jaw” Price and KO him. He would also agree to fight him in a NY minute. If you don’t know that, you know NOTHING about boxing and are an even bigger idiot than I thought.

I own my own two-story 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom house and live by myself. You still live with your mommy and daddy because your totally mental and can’t fit in with society…LOL.
Keep studying boxing if you want to try and debate me, son. Until then…go ask your mommy to make your dinner and do your laundry because you can’t handle it.

Hahaha more intimidation tactics from behind the keyboard in your old girls basement. Yes, you know exactly who I am, sure you do, even if you have my destination way off. That is a Geography issue though and you have shown that your American/Mexican (whichever suits you at the time) education doesn’t cover the rest of the world outside North America. Don’t hustle a hustler tough guy and get back to the story. Fury ran scared from Price. FACT!!!

Squared-Circle Real Talk (a.k.a. LionKing)

You’re the biggest ch*ckensh*t TROLL on ESB. You don’t even have the b@lls to insult me using your real handle/name. Instead you have to hide behind a several fake handles like a scared little b*tch. I definitely know the difference between Czechs and Danes you stupid Brit-tard, but made a simple error because I’ve never heard of Pala. Big deal! Most boxing fans haven’t heard of Pala because he’s an absolute NOBODY — just like you, POS.

But I know exactly who you are, Brother, because I’m too smart for you. Don’t ever forget that you Brit-tard POS. Now go take your bi-monthly shower and see a dentist for once in your life. A little personal hygiene goes a long ways, you stinkin’ limey POS.

Just like no one is impressed with you SC. Big mouthing again and can’t tell the difference between Czech’s and Danes, that must be the American in you. Geography isn’t their strong points. It’s a pity we never got to see if Price would KO your favourite HW because Fury dumped the titles and ran like a scared rabbit rather than face Price. More ludicrous Fury fanboy tough talk from a keyboard warrior.

Anytime Price gets knocked down, he’s close to being stopped. Why else did he have to keep clinching and holding on for dear life most of the round after he got up? Davey Boy has a “glass head” — it’s that’s simple. You don’t even have to land a big shot on his jaw to hurt him and knock him down.

Oh…and it was a Czech cab driver not Danish…lol. My bad, it’s just that nobody has ever heard of Pala because he’s not even ranked in the top 30. I’d be surprised if Pala is ranked in the top 40. So Davey Boy can keep smashing cab drivers, bartenders and part-time security guards until he builds the confidence to fight REAL contenders. I’m not impressed.

What ever happens with price its gonna be exciting.

Posted April 13, 2014 3:49 pm

Joshua is the real one to watch. Great power, skills, conditioning….. None of the Fury’s has power. And Price has no chin, which is a pity because he has most other things and seems a decent, humble guy.

Posted April 13, 2014 11:18 am

Price did get knocked down, but he was far from being stopped. It looked more like a flash knockdown which we recovered from almost immediately.

Posted April 13, 2014 8:33 am

Pаlа is czеch not from Dеnmаrc. Pаlа spаrrеd fеw timеs with Wlаdimir, for his

a danish cab driver.lmao.

Posted April 13, 2014 5:51 am

looks like the fact he cant take shots means this once great prospect wont go anywhere. Perhaps go for broke stick him in with wilder and see who gets koed first

Squared-Circle Real Talk (a.k.a. LionKing)

Davey Boy Price “The HW Champion of Liverpool” got knocked down in first round and damn near stopped again by a Danish cab driver. Clearly, the guy just can’t take big shots from top contenders. And to think so many guys on ESB were saying he’d KTFO Fury less than two years ago…lol.

I can’t see much of a future for him after the Thompson losses (42 yr old!). He will get beat ko’d when he steps up against a contender. He is one beating away from retirement.

Posted April 12, 2014 8:46 pm

I feel thompson ruined him

Posted April 12, 2014 8:01 pm

oh david that didn’t look great, survived the knock down well but really such a weak blow shouldn’t have put you on your backside. the final right hand was a beaut but we already knew about that. got to start boxing more clever if you can’t take those shots.

Ayatollah Khan

Price did the right thing moving to a German promotional stable, less pressure.

Posted April 12, 2014 6:50 pm

hmmm… iphone and fat thumbs. top tier rather than, errr, top leek, and take rather than yake… joshua, btw, is going to be a very, very good fighter. a contender even if he doesn’t go all the way (which i think he will).

Posted April 12, 2014 5:58 pm

there are dodgy chins by top leek standards (Lewis), dodgy chins but with skills to hide it and that can yake the glancing blows (haye), then there’s price. he has great power and skill, but his whiskers are such that he will get a few shocking losses among some very good wins that are to come

Posted April 12, 2014 5:55 pm

a good win for price.he could be on prizefighter by july.

Posted April 12, 2014 5:35 pm

I dont think its ever gonna happen for price now. I think tony thompson totally derailed him. I thought price was gonna be way bigger than this. The heavyweight prospect I’m following now is hughie fury. I think he has more potential than joshua. Other than that as far as contenders go im following jennings here on my side in the u.s. i think he is the best american and would like to see him get some goood fights and he is calling everyone out and doing what he is supposed to so I’m hoping it happens for jennings. good match making that is cause he is trying.

on a side note. what the heck happened to robert helenius? does he have the boystov disease? his hands all jacked up like boystovs?

Posted April 12, 2014 4:48 pm

Build his (Price) confidence, skill set, fitness, experience and keep him busy. Unfortunately it won’t help the fact that if his opponent can land on him he is not gonna take it well.

Posted April 12, 2014 4:43 pm

Anonymous, why not stick a name to your stupid comments? If Price reaches his potential he can be the division number one. Wladimir Klitscho has proved if you sort your defence out it doesn’t matter how well you take a shot.

Posted April 12, 2014 4:37 pm

its a good thing for price to go down and get up again – will help his confidence

rick…Pala has some very good power..thats why some people thought Price would get caught and lose.Maybe Price getting up shows some of the issues he had could be getting cleared up.Not a bad win for Price its time for the next step.

Posted April 12, 2014 3:25 pm

He won, but knocked down again? The guy can’t take a good shot.

Posted April 12, 2014 2:59 pm

The Price is Right.

It would be wonderful to see Wilder step up and fight David.

Wishes, wishes.

Maybe Mansour or Cunningham vs Price.
