Yup, its going to be an excellent fight i rekon, im lookin forward to it. I just think Clev takes everything Kovalevs got and comes back throwing twice as many punches. Cleverly hits harder than his record would suggest too. What you think of Barker vs Geale?

Posted August 13, 2013 6:48 am

MTB if Kovalev comes and KO’s him I will raise my hat to him, like you say though its the ones who have written off Clev before they have even seen him in action, fools.

Posted August 13, 2013 6:41 am

MTB K I think its his lack of exposure in the US and the opposite for Kovalev that has people writing him off, Clevs chin is probably in the top three of best chins, I think he takes his shots and comes back with 10 punch combinations forcing Krusher on the back foot where he’s crap.

Posted August 13, 2013 6:38 am

When Krusher realises his bombs are duds on Clevs chin then he’s in deep doo-doo.

Kornerman, i cant wait to laugh at people on here this weekend. Not the guys who are picking Kovalev to win, but the ones who are completely writing Cleverly off and calling him a paper champ etc

Posted August 13, 2013 6:35 am

Cleverly wins either on points or by late stoppage after he takes Kovalevs heart, which he will !!!

Posted August 13, 2013 6:31 am

MTB KING right on ma brother, Clev is the best 175lb fighter around, he proves this on Saturday.

Posted August 13, 2013 6:29 am

Kovalevs coach likes to run his mouth, havnt heard much from the man himself, Clev on points!

Cowardly cleverly to pull out before fight..

@WHAT!?!? — if Nathan is D grade, who are A B and C grade? What grade is Karo Murat? Last i checked Murat was mandatory to Pokins IBF Crown. That makes him number 1 contender. How about Robin Krasniqi who beat Thomas Adamek last month? Or how about WBC number 1 contender Tony Bellew? What grade are those 3 guys who ALL got tamed by D grade Cleverly? You remind me of that fool who trolls Golovkin, his moniker is ”Woop Woop” i beleive

AG – Spot on and correct. Thought I was a Yank didn’t ya. Hahaha!!! Wrong, just like your prediction of Cleverly being a decent fighter.

Uns .ncf

This is a win win fight for Clev.

He wins the fight and wins you pretend boxing fans over too.

When Viveck wants to make a point he always brings up Hopkins-Pavlik..

Pavlik was a drunk.. He was on a downward spiral.. He had suffered from a staph infection for over a year.. He had bronchitis and was loaded with antibodies.. He had a badly swollen bursa sac on his left elbow … He was pretty much a basket case that night and only took the fight because it was millions in the bank — and he kept his title.

This fight isn’t really fair on Kovalev. After he demolishes the fake, paper WBO champ, all will say that Cleverly was just a B grade fighter. Well they’d be wrong again because Cleverly is a D grade fighter at best. Kovalev will reign as the new WBO champ and move on to unify these titles. He won’t hide at home against mediocre opposition like the coward Cleverly. Keep those hands low Cleverly with your macho style and it won’t last 6 rounds. KOVALEV BY KO of the YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

mr gav

Kovalev sounds good. Never seen him fight though. Maybe the wilder of the light heavy division??? I hope clev don’t get macho and sticks chin out would hate to see clev lose like that. But I think clev on points

Master class

Cleverly wins, Kovalev will learn from this fight.

Boxing Barlow

Froch is another example. Iron chin and lead in his gloves, but against a fighter Ward that is not enough.

Boxing Barlow

The greatest boxers are not the ones who land the ‘big bombs’ but the ones with the serious skills. Kovalev’s style can only take him so far. Vivek Wallace makes a similar well made point in his articel on here giving the example of Kelly Pavlik who was destroying everyone until he got beat by Hopkins. At that time evryone was saying Calzaghe was running scared of him. But good skills and a decent chins beats bombs all day long. This could well go in a simlar way to the Calzaghe v Kessler fight IMO. It will all depend on just how skilled Cleverly is. But either Kovalev is not all that. Hopkins would tangle him up and be way too sharp for him even at his old age, and Ward would make him look like an ametuer.

Fight Aficionado

Kovalev by KO. Too skilled, too much power. The End.

Moonshine when you fight in wales the dragon will slay the monster take away his confidence bit by bit then finish the monster with his welsh dragons fire. FACT.

Posted August 12, 2013 4:53 pm

Cleverly has a puncher’s chance. Kovalev is a monster in the ring.

Posted August 12, 2013 4:48 pm

Clev is more like a cruiserweight on fight night people are forgetting about that he will be to big to strong to fast and will stop Kovalev after Kovelev’s power will have no effect on him and his stamina will fail. Fact and as for Jackson he’s just a punchie old boxer pmsl

Posted August 12, 2013 4:20 pm

cannot wait for this, as ive said from the start, Clev wins on points, Kovalevs bombs are duds to Cleverly.

Posted August 12, 2013 4:19 pm

Kovalev is still untested but very dangerous, it will take a skilled, durable fighter to beat him

Posted August 12, 2013 3:31 pm

Neil (Pomy)

Cleverly on points. Kovalev is a tough challenger …. but Clevely is faster, great chin, more experienced, and has a great work-rate. Plus he is on home soil.

Posted August 12, 2013 3:28 pm

Kovalev is a monster if he stops Cleverly that fast…

Cleverly has 3 times as many rounds boxed as Kovalev… 171 to 57… I think that was the deciding factor, “Let’s do this green kid now!!!”

It would be better for Kovalev if the fight lasted 10 to 12 rounds… Gets him some great rounds and Cleverly a real, old fashioned beating.

Kovalev stops Cleverly inside five rounds.

Posted August 12, 2013 2:22 pm

Kovalev clearly crushes Cleverly.

Jackson says…, “Cleverly doesn’t have speed or power that others have.”

It wouldn’t be very smart to underrate Cleverly’s speed. He’s as quick like Calzaghe, but his hands are much stronger and his defense is a little tighter. He punches harder.

Kovalev should win. He certainly lacks pro experience for a title challenger, but he’s a better boxer and puncher.
