Both would lose.

What about a Mayweather vs Ward ? It would be the best vs the best !

Posted September 14, 2012 7:15 am

Wards not going to fight Martinez at 164, he is more likely to go to 175 when pressed about moving up and NOT chasing around WW’s like Pac and Floyd Martinez was pretty emphatic that he was not going up to 168 which is where Ward fights… Fact is that Sergio (who I like) is desperate and he needs to be bold if he wants to cash in, his May/Pac strategy has yielded NO results and its alot of risk very little reward for these guys if they fought him…. If Sergio lost he is going to cry “weight drained” as will his fans if he wins two guys who have done the bulk of their biz at 147 or below will have been beaten by a legit MW…..Should Martinez move up to 168 there are plenty of high profile fights but at 37 he’s not looking like he wants to do that….I have no issue with some catchweight bouts but they simply provoke controversy and provide excuses which I am sick to death of…

Posted September 14, 2012 3:25 am

martinez is to small chavez jr not skilled enough chavez jr adavantage at middle weight is he the bigger guy at 168 against ward he would no longer have that adavantage and he is far less skilled

S O G – plain and simple

Posted September 13, 2012 10:56 pm

Martinez has been very clear about being open to a Ward fight… He said he’d ask for a catch-weight of 164 and it would get done… He’s always been willing to go to 154 to fight Pacquiao or Floyd for a championship they both won a piece of—no catchweight needed… He’s just looking for fights that will get him to number 1 P4P… I don’t think he’ll get there, it’s late in the day for him… But he believes it and he’s a very determined guy.

Posted September 13, 2012 9:44 pm

Guys trying to demean Ward are clearly delusional the ship has sailed and he has proven he is a beast of a different level, idiots like Gonzo, MK and the rest cannot change his P4P status nor his destructions of Kessler, Dawson, Froch, and Abraham….Real boxing fans respect the obvious and its clear that Ward is at least the #3 or #4 fighter in the sport… Long winded posts about him fighting lackeys like Froch, or Kessler in their homelands to prove a point aren’t going to fly…. Those dudes had a chance and got beat up for their troubles…. Hail the King at 168 Andre “SOG” Ward……. PS stop whining about Ward raping Kessler who he made look like a robot….

Posted September 13, 2012 8:37 pm

Martinez is never going anywhere near Ward, he has been 100% clear he is not trying to fight at 168….. As for Chavez he is physically going to have to move up sooner or later but lacks the skill to compete with Ward who would nullify him with ease… Ward destroyed the SMW division and just took out the best LHW over the past 5 or so years like he was a garden variety bum… Ward is the BEST young fighter in boxing and he has proved it beyond a shadow of a doubt.

Gonzo The Dragonborn

Certainly Reeltime.

Dear Tark & other blind people and those of you who DKSAB,

There is absolutely no disputing Chad Dawson was but a mere shell of himself the other night. Draining his gargantuan ”I’ve been contemplating moving up to heavyweight for a couple of years now” frame down to ’68 had completely sapped all his strength, punching power, punch resistance, and his energy levels to the point he was reduced to a walking glass jaw on noodle thin legs. Not only had making a weight he hadn’t fought at in almost 7 years (and had never beaten a half decent opponent at) depleted him of all this, but it had also robbed him of every ounce of his confidence too as he was so weakened by it that he’d been knocked out in sparring by a shot Edison Miranda and beaten up in camp every day by no name novices. How much evidence do you guys need to see before it finally dawns on you that the Chad Dawson you saw in the ring the other night was there in name only? The fact that he got dropped and stopped by Featherfists ”I couldn’t even wobble Glass Jaw Green” Ward should be enough to convince you something was badly wrong with him. However, seeing as numerous sources have confirmed that he was struggling like crazy to make the weight and was getting bashed up and knocked senseless in sparring by shot Columbian journeymen and unknown novices should’ve convinced you once and for all he was dead at the weight. Ward knew full well that Chad was going to drastically weakened at ’68, why the hell do you think he insisted on dragging him down there when he could’ve picked up Chad’s belts and not risked losing his own if he they fought a mere couple of pounds north of that?

Posted September 13, 2012 11:24 am

No power Ward

Ward sucks. He is so boring to watch. Lacks power. He thought he could knock out Froch, abraham even Kessler. No Power Ward

Posted September 13, 2012 10:34 am

I agree with the fact that just because you are undefeated, it does not mean that you are all that. It does not mean anything, history is full of fighters being undefeated until their weakness is exposed, the same thing will happen to a guy like Ward, who is fine technical fighter who can move, but lacks a punch. When the undefeated fighter experiences his first loss, he loses a lot mentally. Chavez jr, is not a fighter who will expose Wards weakness.

Posted September 13, 2012 7:59 am

lol, is this a serious question?

Posted September 13, 2012 2:29 am

Tark why do you continue to have your head up Bernard hopkins butt ? you kiss his tail when everyone here thinks otherwise. You stick up for Golden Boy Productions when Brune gave a valid point. Tark you think different way different

Posted September 13, 2012 1:31 am

Ward doesn’t go to number one off the Dawson fight… If he beats Martinez and Golovkin, and then beats 2 or 3 top light heavyweights unifying the LHW title within the next 3 or 4 years, he would most likely take over as P4P King.. It depends on what happens with Donaire, Gamboa, Broner, and a few other fighters because Pac and Floyd will be retired by then.

Posted September 13, 2012 1:22 am

@ Brune…. Hopkins was tracking DLH down in the 8th and 9th rounds and Oscar had 2 choices — either get smashed late in the fight like Trinidad, or go down and out from a body shot.. Only Oscar knows if he could have beaten the count.. It seemed like a good but not devastating liver shot. I never heard Floyd Sr. make the statement you claim he made. And I doubt he did since he was Oscar’s trainer and you generally support your fighter.

Posted September 13, 2012 1:12 am

If he fights Sergio he might as well fight Gennadiy Golovkin while he’s at it.Ward has a huge size advantage over both but they’d both still cause him problems.Anybody who thinks a fighter is unbeatable because he’s undefeated is an amateur.

Posted September 13, 2012 12:29 am

Ward/Chavez Jr. is the best fight to be made, but I doubt that Team Chavez will put him in with Ward anytime soon. Ward would simply be too much for Maravilla, but Chavez’s combination of size, strength, power, chin, and relentlessness will be a handful for anybody, Ward included. Although I give Ward a slight edge, I really would like to see how it would pan out. That fight is more intriguing than Pac/Mayweather to me.

te tumbo lose weight, fight somebody and comeback and tell us how it went.

Posted September 12, 2012 11:32 pm

Its Me, Ernie

As much as it pains me to say it, as good as Ward looked, the Klitschkos are the only ones safe.

Posted September 12, 2012 11:21 pm

Martinez VS Ward = fireworks!

Posted September 12, 2012 11:02 pm

te tumbo

Dawson looked lean not drained. Morales v. Pacquiao III at 130lbs or Cotto v. Torres at 140lbs are haunting examples of weight-drained fighters. they looked like concentration-camp survivors at the weigh-ins and not much better on fight-night. besides, the size-difference was always supposed to be a Dawson advantage and now because Ward imposed his skills to expose the flaws in Dawson’s fight-game it’s now Dawson who experienced a size-disadantage? (lol) not even close. it was ring-mastery, plain and simple. those shots would’ve decked a 175lb Dawson just as clean and, just like at 168lbs, it would be an accumulation of clean shots that would finally subdue the always-game (albeit outclassed) Dawson. maybe 175lbs is a weak division that made Dawson look better than he actually was(?). all i know is that Ward dominated (Again) and Dawson won’t ever be the same. Btw, if the money’s right, i’m cofident that Ward will pack a suitcase and jet to Vegas. in fact, every time a fight-fan expresses that wish, Ward’s price is pumped higher.

Posted September 12, 2012 10:33 pm

Gonzo tell tark and the others they think it wasnt weight that beat Dawson. I agree with you it was the weight loss.

Posted September 12, 2012 9:34 pm

Fighting the other champs in my mind would suffice, with or without the WBC belt. Martinez doesn’t need a belt because as long as he keeps winning then everyone concedes that (at least at this time) he is the lineal champion.

Posted September 12, 2012 9:16 pm

Gonzo The Dragonborn

By the way, just as I and many others predicted, Dawson was completely dead at the weight the other night and that victory is utterly meaningless. Obviously Chad was very stupid indeed to agree to fight Ward at ’68 (the fact that he also to do so in Oakland should’ve netted him a bloody Darwin award). And it has been confirmed by numerous sources including Ross Thompson (who was training in the same gym as Chad), Miranda’s trainer among others that Dawson had indeed been knocked out by a shot to smithereens Edison Miranda in sparring. There’s even been video footage of it circulating too. Thomson said Dawson was so weight drained that he was getting bashed up in sparring every day and that he spent more time in the sauna than he did in the gym.

Posted September 12, 2012 9:04 pm

Gonzo The Dragonborn

Martinez is pushing 40, past prime and nearing the end of his career, Ward is naturally (allegedly) much bigger than him too and would have have a big size and weight advantage over him come fight time, and Sergio is also brave enough (aka. stupid enough) to concede to all of the other pre-fight stipulations Ward insists upon to stack the odds heavily in his favour before he’ll even think about signing on the dotted line too. Ward will jump at the chance if Sergio is willing to move up to ’68. Sergio, like Chad, is the perfect opponent for Ward. He has a high p4p ranking and a big name but poses almost no threat at the weight Ward would insist on the fight taking place. Prime Sergio at 160 somewhere in the middle of the Pampas would be nice but we all know there’s not a chance in hell Ward would ever dare agree to that as the idea of fighting on a level playing field is completely alien concept to him and one that he obviously feels is way beneath him. Actually him and Chavez Jr. have quite a bit in common in that regard.

Posted September 12, 2012 8:53 pm

Tark what do you say when Mayweather Sr is suspiouse of that punch thrown in the Hopkins De la hoya match ? Sr thinks the match was a set up fake cause the next day both hopkins and De la hoya form Golden Boy productions.

Posted September 12, 2012 8:33 pm

How can Martinez unify the titles if Jose suleiman said he doesn’t want his belt with other organizations. I too would like to see maravilla unify the belts but Jose if f***ing every thing up in boxing.

Posted September 12, 2012 8:12 pm

“Martinez is too small, and age will eventually catch up with him.”-Nope Ward is too GOOD and Martinez’s Rubber Duck Defense won’t suffice vs. someone as GOOD as Ward and THAT is what will catch UP with him….Ward was smaller than Dawson so SIZE is not the factor. SKILLS is.

Posted September 12, 2012 7:48 pm

“Ward is a super middleweight so leave Martinez out of the equation”…Nope BOTH are Boxers and they are LESS than 20lbs apart SO they remain in the equation. Ward has more SKILLS so he would WIN the bout.

Posted September 12, 2012 7:46 pm

Martinez is too small, and age will eventually catch up with him. Chavez is worthless! Ward might as well be fighting a punching bag. Have Ward take on Kid Chocolate, and I guarantee you he receives an ass kicking. Ward will never be a great fighter unless he steps out of his comfort zone and takes a chance against bigger guys not catch weights. His weight class is WEAK! the Frochs, Kesslers, Abrahams, Greens, Dirrells are weak! None of them qualify as being near great. In all other eras, they would have been in the lower bottom half of the contenders, which makes Ward a good fighter, but not even close to being great.

Posted September 12, 2012 7:14 pm

No way does Martinez go up to 168. After he defeats Chavez jr. He will try to unify the middleweight division. Ward destroys anyone in his weight class.

Posted September 12, 2012 7:10 pm

Ward is a super middleweight so leave Martinez out of the equation. As for the possibility of him fighting Chavez Jr., that’s more of a reality. And if it happened, I’d pick Ward to beat Jr. hands down.

Posted September 12, 2012 7:04 pm

Floyd is the one who has a chance at a catchweight at 160

Posted September 12, 2012 6:57 pm

Obviously the last 2 posts are “Tark” impersonators… And I don’t idolize anybody.. This fight is the biggest since Hopkins flattened DLH.. Obviously there’s a lot of excitement and a sold out venue.

Posted September 12, 2012 6:37 pm

Thank you, I’m tired of these guys acting like Martinez is so damn small. Last I checked after all that training he weighed 167 the same as Chavez did a week ago. Martinez whould get his ass whooped really bad vs Ward and he knows it. His people would never allow that to happen, but it wont anyway cause Chavez will beat the wheels off his heels

Posted September 12, 2012 6:10 pm

Ward vs Martinez is not a hellava fight are you crazy dude? Ward and Martinez would never fight cause Martinez will only fight guys he feels he has a good shot at beatn. But if they were to fight it would be a worst ass whooping than what Dawson received-Martinez couldn’t out run Ward and Ward would tear his ass out the frame from the outside in and inside out-not a good fight for the dancing fighter

Posted September 12, 2012 6:07 pm

Tark knock off the idolism of Hopkins. He is a Pedo he has been all the way since Trinidad.

Posted September 12, 2012 6:00 pm

Its Chavezs nuturing of Sr all these years boxing since he can walk. Jr has never been on the canvas and Sergi will see what the floor tastes like after Jr is done with him.

Posted September 12, 2012 5:57 pm

my last post was in reference to Benvenuti

Posted September 12, 2012 5:55 pm

I dont know who’s posing as me. Boxtra, Chavez jr is balloning past 160 thats why he looks soft in the middle. Jr box rate stats are better than Sergy’s. Work out put will me key to his victory saturday night.

Posted September 12, 2012 5:54 pm

after he got his shot at the title and a big pay day,he choose to walk away.that is really not so uncommon is it? many fighters have done the same thing. if you have enough money to retire and walk away, why keep getting punched in the face. there are easier ways to make a living.

Posted September 12, 2012 5:52 pm

Martinez vs Chavez is the biggest middleweight fight since Hopkins fought Trinidad and De La Hoya… In those 2 blockbuster mega-event $$$$ fights, old man B-Hop was bigger, stronger, faster, and more skilled than either the undefeated Tito or the rabbit like De La Hoya… This time old man Martinez is smaller and shorter, but retains all the other advantages Hopkins had.

Posted September 12, 2012 5:50 pm

Chavez Jr. has taken a pounding for a number of reason including his so-called lack of quality opponents SO why is now is the question being asked regarding how he would fare with Ward?

Posted September 12, 2012 5:41 pm

First off Chavez is getting KO’d on Saturday…. I think Martinez and Ward would be a hell of a fight. I’m assuming they’ll fight at a catchweight around 165.

Posted September 12, 2012 5:33 pm

Ward will have to move to 160 if he wants the money fights. At 160 Both Chavez and Martinez will give him a heck of a fight.

Posted September 12, 2012 5:29 pm

The markeability is there because of Chavez’s long undefeated record.. That fools fans.. Nino Benvenuti had a long undefeated record, but couldn’t box any better than Mikkel Kessler.. After Nino finally fought a true middleweight who could box and punch, in Carlos Monzon, he disappeared in a hurry.

Posted September 12, 2012 5:02 pm

Jake Lead Rights

I’m tired of hearing about Chave’s marketability. If you want to market a classic top Brand (aka Chavez Sr.) then OK but to market a top brand name with no substance will only create an unforgiving fan base not to mention create a negative viral fan base. Martinez has created a positive fan base with his aggressive style and his professionalism. So for anyone to say that it makes more sense to see Ward v Chaves is down right wrong.

Posted September 12, 2012 4:46 pm

I don’t think it “scared” Froch…but I don’t think he’s that eager (anymore) to get back in there Ward, especially since he’s already lost to Ward. Maybe if Froch hadn’t been beaten by Ward he’d be more inclined to fight him, but since he DID lose, he’s probably in no hurry!

Posted September 12, 2012 4:45 pm

What a shame Martinez is a bit to small for Ward even at a catchweight of 164. Thats the only guy that can match his skill level and athleticism. 160 is big for Martinez already theres just no one skilled enough to take advantage.

Posted September 12, 2012 4:42 pm

Martinez wants a 164 catchweight for Ward… He wants to split the difference, which seems fair.. Dawson more than split the difference.

Posted September 12, 2012 4:40 pm

Who you got, Martinez or Chavez?

Posted September 12, 2012 4:39 pm

You honestly think Ward’s win over Dawson would scare Froch off??? Since that fight he’s reiterated his desire to meet Ward again.

Posted September 12, 2012 4:39 pm

Why should Ward do a catchweight with Martinez. Martinez weighs in the 170’s on fight night just like Ward. Seems pretty even to me.

Posted September 12, 2012 4:38 pm

That was a phony “Tark” below…. Boxtra, you’re wrong so often it’s like flipping a coin with you.. You’re the worst boxing analyst in history. Obviously you picked Bute to beat Froch.

“Boxtradamus predicted Dirrell would win the Super Six… He was wrong again”-Nope. TARK is wrong again. I picked Ward and I was CORRECT. I THANK you for reminding ME so that I can celebrate it once again!!! I am the GREATEST Fight Prophet ever born!!!!!

good list, but i have ward second behind floyd, and i have bradley at number 3 and put Pac at number 6, because his last 2 fights were controversial, and imo Pac is on the decline and, bradley would win a clear cut rematch without the twisted ankles. btw i did have pac winning 115-113

Posted September 12, 2012 4:08 pm

Boxtra is wrong AGAIN!!!! …. Immediately following the Bute fight, which Boxtradamus predicted would be won by Bute by decision, Froch called out Ward again… He said he felt so strong and fast against Bute that he was certain he could win a rematch with Ward.. Of course he’s delusional.

Posted September 12, 2012 4:05 pm

Ward was very WISE for ducking #0 P4P Bute in favor of #10 P4P Dawson. I APPLAUD this type of ducking. He’s following in the footsteps of the GOAT.

Posted September 12, 2012 4:03 pm

Boxtradamus predicted Dirrell would win the Super Six… He was wrong again.

Posted September 12, 2012 4:02 pm

In FACT Froch and Kessler haven’t even WHISPERED Ward’s name since the Dawson Fight. I remember Ward CONGRATULATING Froch on his WIN over Bute.

Posted September 12, 2012 4:01 pm

Ward-Golovkin is the fight I want… Why is it so hard to make the best fights?

Posted September 12, 2012 4:01 pm

Actually Ward landed 5 more headbutts but 100 more PUNCHES than Kessler did in the Fight. Anyway you look at it Kessler got SPANKED.

Posted September 12, 2012 4:00 pm

I predicted LONG ago that Ward would be a GREAT one and I was CORRECT. I remain as the GREATEST Fight Prophet ever born!!!

Posted September 12, 2012 3:59 pm

Kessler was not “headbutt to death.” …. 70% of those blows were delivered by Ward’s fists.

Posted September 12, 2012 3:58 pm

Well, this writer is assuming that Sergio would go up to 168 and face Ward in Oakland. I say that he grows a pair and goes to Buenos Aires, and also that they do a catchweight at 164, or fight at 168, but with the weigh in done on the same day as the fight…and if that´s the case, then all of a sudden Martinez would be the favorite.

Just sayin…Ward is great, but why does he always have to have the deck stacked in his favor?

Posted September 12, 2012 3:56 pm

What about Ward/Hopkins & Ward/Golovkin?

Posted September 12, 2012 3:53 pm

Ward is a Hopkins clone. Ward will be beat, he’s not that good. Dawson was weak from weight loss. Froch is a B fighter, Kessler was head butt to death by Ward.

Posted September 12, 2012 3:51 pm

Tumbo writes…. “I can’t imagine a Ward or Mayweather having as much trouble with Williams and Pavlik as Martinez did. never mind Sugar Ray Robinson.” …. Oh yeah? When Robinson fought somebody as big and tough as Kelly Pavlik, namely a slow punchless fellow known as Joey Maxim, he didn’t win and didn’t want a rematch to redeem himself.. And the Williams who fought Martinez would probably beat Ralph Jones 10 times out of 10 — after all, Jones lost his 5 previous fights to unknown pugs before he beat the crap out of Robinson.. Robinson refused a rematch to redeem himself.

Posted September 12, 2012 3:50 pm

Ward is much too SKILLED for Martinez to get away with his Rubber Ducky Defensive style. IF he doesn’t put those hands UP he’ll get caught repeatedly and gobbled UP by the SHARK.

Ward is hotter than the red tip on the FLAME right now. He will have a hard time getting anything but a tune up in his next fight. Mayweather is the only ELITE level guy out there that faces guys coming off impressive performances.

Ward has been sharpening himself vs. Iron while Dirrell has been on the shelf or sharpening himself vs cotton. So Ward is the MUCH sharper sword right now.

Posted September 12, 2012 3:36 pm

Dirrell is the most WICKED counterpuncher in the ENTIRE Sport of Boxing and he’s very elusive. He has all the physical tools but lacks the Ring Generalship of Ward. Ward by decision.

many of you are absolutely deLusional in terms of the polished HOF and ATG skills and talent you’re crediting Martinez with. i can’t imagine a Ward or Mayweather having as much trouble v. Williams and Pavlik as Martinez did. never mind Sugar Ray Robinson. nonetheless, that is precisely the status many posters are granting Martinez based on gritty wins v. Pavlik and Williams(!?). Martinez is a great fighter and active P4Pr but this status is relative. he would barely register in a competitive bracket including the likes of Hagler, Hearns, Toney, Roy Jr., or Nunn. or even v. the likes of Norris, Duran, Barkley, Olajide, McCallum, or Kalambay. Martinez is perfectly suited to compete v. the likes of Pavlik, Williams, Cintron, Macklin, Barker, Zbik, Rubio, Golovkin, and Chavez Jr. but he is not among the top-10 middleweights of all time.

“Son of God” is a great nickname… Better to align yourself with great power then thumb your nose at it. We’re all sons and daughters of the Father. Don’t we pray, “Our Father who art in Heaven..” … It’s just that most people, especially Christians, don’t voice and celebrate this relationship … and Ward isn’t afraid to.

Ward should of been disqauilied in that Kesslar fight. I hear those two Hopkins and Ward are friends. Ward fights just like Hopkins. And fights dirty too. No respect to anyone that fights dirty on purpose

Posted September 12, 2012 2:42 pm

Dirrell’s problem is pretending to slip anytime his opponent lands something.

Posted September 12, 2012 2:40 pm

Ward would make chavez feel foolish. Martinez would be a very close fight, and one I hope happens in the couple years.

andre calls himself the “son of god” ! There is only one son of god andre and I hope you get knocked the hell out for saying that !!!!!

Ward runs allover Chavez, it would be a massacre. With his holding instead of clinching, he entirely nullifies all of Jrs. “skills”. He’s also tall, rangy, fast, precise, can throw combinations, he’s all wrong, so wrong it’s unreal.

Martinez on the other hand could hold the fight more open, with a better defense. But in the end, Wards size, speed, quick reactions, long range weapons, and dirty strategy, would be his undoing. Martinez isn’t a career middleweight nor does he have the size for SMW. But he would definitely give a better fight than Jr.

Make it happen before Sergio gets too old. Within 6-12 months really. At 164 in Vegas, it’d be an excellent, 50/50, FOTY candidate type match up. If it’s at 168 in California I’d rather it didn’t happen, but unfortunately that’s the most likely scenario.

Posted September 12, 2012 2:20 pm

Even though Martinez would be by far the smaller man in the ring, I still think he’d give Ward a helluva fight. It’d be 50/50 IMO.

Posted September 12, 2012 2:14 pm

I seriously doubt Martinez will go up to 168. He wasn’t even a big light middleweight. And if he does, he’ll fight someone like Froch, where he at least has a speed advantage, before he fights Ward. And I just cannot see Chavez beating ANY of the top 168ers. Not Froch, Not Kessler, Not Direll, probably not even Bika, so never mind Ward.

Posted September 12, 2012 2:04 pm

I don’t think Ward would struggle with Chavez at all but Martinez would be a more serious contest due to his own ability to adapt. Martinez probably wont go up in weight to fight Ward, i think his intentions might be to get a fight with Floyd? Chavez would get schooled by Ward because he has no clue how to deal with Ward’s skills (and yes, believe it, Ward’s inside game would cause Chavez problems); In fact, i see Chavez getting very frustrated if he gets in the ring with Ward.I think Chavez’s performance against Martinez will serve as a good indication of his ‘true’ skill. Dirrell is an intriguing option for a fight with Ward, it would get quite technical, however i believe Dirrell would lose his “big-match temperament”(if he has any of this, I admit he looked good against Abraham but then again a volume puncher will always look good against Abraham) and succumb to Ward’s ability to figure his opponent out…this might mean a really ugly fight with clinching and complaints about headbutting, probably resulting in a decision win for Ward.

sgt p

froch would be a better match up for either of them, he and marvilla holds their hands the same way and similar offensive fighting skills, he and chavez would just smash in the center of the ring like the kessler fight and the best man (if the fight isnt in england or mexico) wins

Posted September 12, 2012 1:42 pm

Agree bro. Martinez would fall under a roy jones mixed with joe calzage. More roy though. Joe cause of left awkwardness. Jones cause of his speed, although not nearly as fast. Ward martinez is like a pac and mayweather ppv fight. Almost

what? really? dont think so

Discipline is not Andre Dirrell’s problem.. He’s displayed massive focus and discipline in training camps before. He sticks maniacally to his diet and training regimen and arives at the weighin in perfect condition …. But you have to have faith in your talent. You have to believe. He’s a meek character who loses heart in the midst of the toughest battles … Lack of faith has eroded his drive because he doubts he can get over that hump.

If Chavez beats Martinez by k.O Chavez has a good chance to beat Ward by unanimous decision.

Posted September 12, 2012 1:25 pm

But YET you still READ it and furthermore COMMENT on it. All I have to say is…THANK YOU!

Posted September 12, 2012 12:55 pm

Another lame questin by an untalented ‘author’, who can’t think of anythink original to write.

Posted September 12, 2012 12:52 pm

Dirrell is not DISCIPLINED enough to beat Ward, he fell apart against Froch when he was winning, he’ll definitely fall apart against Ward while LOSING!

Posted September 12, 2012 12:50 pm

If it makes money it makes sense!! Ward/Chavez Jr will be a BIG money if Chavez Jr gets passed Martinez. And promoters will make the Ward/Chavez Jr fight happen.

Posted September 12, 2012 12:48 pm

If its @ SMW Ward would dominate Martinez
@ Catchweight, I think Ward would win
@ MW I think Martinez would win.

Posted September 12, 2012 12:48 pm

Andre Dirrell would be a good matchup style-wise for Ward and it’s a fight I always wanted to see.. I saw Dirrell as extremely serious about his career a few years ago and I don’t see that now.. He’s not pushing very hard and is not vocal enough — and I don’t think the fight will happen.. If he could get a Pavlik fight he would be back in the mix …. Martinez has talked about challenging Ward, but everybody knows the big money would be a fight with Floyd at 154 — and that’s what Sergio’s dream is …. Failing a Floyd fight he may fight Ward, which is a plausible fight for him given Sergio’s speed, power, and craft. Not that he’ll win, but even at his age he’s not an easy proposition for anyone.

Posted September 12, 2012 12:46 pm

haha!! I know right….I felt like I was watching a magic show last Saturday. Ward was FLAWLESS!! I couldn’t believe my eyes. It was like watching Clazaghe vs Lacy all over again (except Ward displayed exceptional power).

Posted September 12, 2012 12:32 pm

Ward beats them both…..he’ll make EASY work of Chavez for sure!! Martinez too would get beat, but would hold his own.

Posted September 12, 2012 12:31 pm

swamp gas

ward is destined for long time dominance of the two divisions. quote me.

Posted September 12, 2012 12:30 pm

First there’s no sense in talking Ward vs Martinez. Sergio has his eyes aimed at lower divisions and has never expressed wanting to go up in weight. In fact he’s said things relating to him not even being a true MW. Chavez jr will inevitably face Ward even if they don’t fight until they are both LHW’s which both will end up being eventually, but Chavez has to first prove he even deserves the shot at Ward. Chavez has to get passed Martinez first, which is a possibility. After that he will be legitimate enough to talk a Ward vs Chavez jr match. The smart promoter would put this off for 2-3 years letting Ward capture the LHW title and Chavez jr capturing the SMW title setting up a mega-fight between the two. As much as I’d like to see it, right now is too soon. Martinez vs Ward would be interesting simply because we could see Ward vs a pure boxer, but I think Dirrell would be a better match for Ward in that respect.

Posted September 12, 2012 12:28 pm

You throw both Martinez and Chavez at the same time in the ring with Ward, Ward still wins on points. lol

Posted September 12, 2012 12:24 pm

Chavez would take a terrible beating… Martinez would give a good acount of himself and be a live underdog. Ward is just as big, strong, and tough as Chavez, but also has weapons, range, and versatility. He could more than match Chavez’s strength on the inside, with much slicker head work, and box him silly from the outside.. You’re probably looking at a 120-108 affair.. Martinez has better speed than Ward and might take an early lead with his tricky southpaw style and movement. Ward would come on late using his size and strength inside to win about 116-112 …. I give 3G the best chance because he’d put a lot of hands in Ward’s face and come on relentlessly like a Duran vs Leonard or Monzon vs Benvenuti. That one I view as a tossup and a fight people would be talking about 100 years from now.

Posted September 12, 2012 12:22 pm

Ward won’t lose for a very very long time. He’s cleaning out 168lbs easily, just beat 175lb champ, who’s next?

Posted September 12, 2012 12:20 pm

Sergio would get out boxed and Chavez Jr. would get KO’d..

Posted September 12, 2012 12:20 pm

Ward is in a league of his own…those would be mismatches.

Posted September 12, 2012 12:09 pm

Seriously?lol how do people who know nothing about boxing get articles on here?ward is very but to say he would win easily is crazy.first off Chavez would be the easier fight for ward because Chavez lacks the polished skills but never underestimate the power of will.No matter what ward does Chavez will keep coming will keep attacking will not give up.remember the last five opponents of ward never let their hands go,this would be a tough fight for ward especially with jrs body attack. As for Sergio he’s a beast who knows how to adapt and take it to another level.actually ward might walk into a punch that might change his life.sergio is a way better outside fighter than war and the key to Sergio winning would be to just stay in his favorite outside spot and pick ward apart. To say ward would beat these guys easy is just ridiculous.either of these fighters could beat or give ward a better fight than his previous unwilling to let hands go opponents.wards vs Hopkins next lol another boring one

Posted September 12, 2012 11:59 am

Ward beats the both, but will embrass jr.

Posted September 12, 2012 11:58 am

The Kingslayer

Let’s say Martinez vs. Ward is at a 164lb catchweight then I could see it being competitive.

Posted September 12, 2012 11:49 am

Chavez vs Ward is inevitable in the near future… I hope it happens.. GOOD for boxing and GOOD for us fans!!
