Nice to see that showtimes posts have been erased. Sickening stuff. Good work ESB.

BTW, Sredmond, there are different levels of slickness just as there are different levels of power or skills. Froch certainly isn’t the slickest boxer out there, but he’s a helluva lot more versatile than Pavlik, Pascal, or Cloud.

“but to suggest that Froch’s skillset is on the same planet as Bernards is a joke” I never said or insinuated that, SRedmond. Froch is NOT a one dimensional fighter, however. I’ve seen plenty of his fights and the man is a thinking fighter. Bernard would not beat Carl Froch–not at super middleweight because Froch is too smart. Tavoris Cloud is a one-dimensional fighter. Kelly Pavlik is a one-dimensional fighter. Jean Pascal is a one-dimensional fighter. Carl Froch is not. That’s why he’s currently a champion but the other three are not.

This comments section is just like one of Hopkins fights; it may involve Hopkins but the other guy(s) involved are what people find interesting. That, by the way, is why you will NEVER see Hopkins V. Ward. Because neither of them can draw a crowd and even together they wouldn’t do 750k ppv. No disrespect to either of them as fighters but thats the reality of the business, that’s why Froch’s reward for losing to Ward was the fight that Ward wanted – because Froch has a whole country behind him and Ward only has one small section of his hometown

Hidalgo, you must have never seen Carl Froch fight, he is a TOUGH guy but he is one dimensional relative to Hopkins… Granted Bernard is 48 so age is a reality but to suggest that Froch’s skillset is on the same planet as Bernards is a joke… Jermaine Taylor had Froch in DEEP trouble he was losing till he got the KO in the 12th, He lost to Kessler and barely got by Dirrell… The only presumed top fighter he EVER really looked unbeatable against was Bute.. Andre Ward is “slick” Carl Froch is definitely NOT someone I would put in that category it might look better against a STIFF European style fighter like Abraham but Cobra Carl is not a monument to technique…. He lost to 2 guys who could box (Ward Kessler and many thought he got a gift against Dirrell )

Peej, Carl Froch possesses a boxing style that Bernard Hopkins could not capitalize on. Froch is smart, cool, and calculating in the ring–just like Bernard Hopkins. Froch has an excellent jab that would keep Hopkins at bay. Predictable fighters like Cloud, Pavlik, and Pascal fall right into Bernard’s trap because they are just not as intelligent a boxer as Bernard is. Froch however, is quite slick and quick thinking in the ring. Froch would beat B-Hop. No doubt about it.

Showtime, do you have a link to that tripe you quoted concerning Ciani?

PEEJ , it’s ok. We know you are a dimwit and are severly challenged. You imbecile!

I think Hopkins would beat Froch. But would be a good fight.

One of the most ridicoulous size disparities I saw regarding Wlad was when he faught Chambers, and I know chamber is really a cruiser but it was so riciculous that it looked like the equivalent of a feather weight who somehow managed to get a fight with the super middlweight champion, even so what was more unbelievable is that he lasted 11 rounds before being knocked out by Wlad, so really while size is a big factor, so is heart skill and chin..

Kid Blast

Hopkins will never fight Ward, Froch, Kessler, Kulev, or Lebedev. But he might consider Abraham, Bute, or Stiglietz.

Good God, think for a momnet what Froch, Ward, or Kessler would have done to Cloud. I believe that puts things in the proper perspective. Cloud was just plain awful. Hopkins has not scored a KO since God knows when. He is no fool and he knows where to go for his next fight and it’s not against Ward. Hell, if he couldn’t beat Dawson, how in the heck is he going to beat the best fighter P4P?

Jesus, can you imagine Hopkins v. Ward? It’d be like those nature channel documentaries where you see 2 mountain goats just run at each other and butt heads until one of them collapses

@exiled yank: there is a big difference between a retired boxer using recreational drugs and an active one using performance enhancers.
also very few brits would claim joe was the best ever. but you apparently know the ‘song and dance’ so perhaps i should defer to you, the expert on the british. personally i thought hopkins beat joe by a round.

Oh yeah, If Hopkins does fight Ward, he’ll get trounced. Ward is levels above Pavlik, Pascal, Cloud, and even Calzaghe. I bet Hopkins knows that too.

Wow! So many comments by John Scully that I want to respond to: Regarding Pacquiao and Marquez Scully said, “You know I don’t think there is much else for them to do other than fight each other” I disagree completely. In the same interview Scully was going on about the ageless Hopkins and about how long he felt Wlad K. could continue to fight and dominate because he was in such great shape for his age. Well, do not these principles and ideas apply to Juan Manuel Marquez? I think they do, I mean Marquez was sensational in his last fight with Pacquiao. It’s clear he’s still got a lot to offer. On Wlad’s size having a lot to do with Klitschkos’ success and dominance. I’ve said it all along and like Scully stated Wlad is a giant. Size does matter but unfortunately the heavyweight division allows anything from big men to neanderthals–like the Klitschkos. The weight rules for the heavyweight division are the most unfair of all rules and all divisions, and likely some of the most unfair in the history of boxing. On Robert Guerrero: He will lose. Period. After all, that’s why Floyd chose him, remember?

Scully is always good to listen to, since he know what he is talking about. He was a good commentator too.

Hopkins is preying on second tier paper chumps. We he fights the top dogs he looses.(Dawson, Calzaghe)

Traveller – yeah and he lost to Calzaghe who is just the greatest fighter ever… I know the British BS song and dance. As for being doped up – didn’t JC get nailed for coke? Oh wait, Hatton was actually filmed snorting the nose candy.

I still say Ward is all wrong for BH. But I don’t buy the act of him saying he wouldn’t fight Ward. I think Scully is right and BH is up to something.
