Roy Jones should be compulsorily retired. If he was a thoroughbred, he’d be retired to stud, but now he’s more donkey they’ll take him out back and put 2 in his head.Posted June 19, 2014 2:15 pm
Both are cheating PED steroid using has-beens.
Jones was the biggest ducker in history, avoided the toughest fights at 160 & 168 and fled to the barren wasteland that was 175 where he did his bum-of-the-month tour. Got stretched when his ducking and luck finally run out.
Toney got numerous gift decisions in the middle divisions before eating himself into a cruiser. The guy has serious brain damage.Posted June 19, 2014 12:03 pm

Please tell me this isn’t true!!!Posted June 18, 2014 3:58 am
Most of these clowns on here talking about RJJ on steroids don’t know what the hell they’re talking about. Yes, RJJ tested positive, and it was in the same fight that Richard Hall tested positive, so they were both on even playing fields. Not only that, but the commission didn’t sweep anything under the rug. Both fighters had used “Ripped Fuel” and the reason neither was reprimanded was because the company that sells Ripped Fuel didn’t include the steroid in it’s list of ingredients. It wasn’t the fault of the fighters, so the commission let it go. Both fighters fought since then and never again tested positive for anything. So let’s end this PED crap that ppl have obviously only given a sh#$ about because Floyd needed an excuse to duck a fight about 3-4 years ago.Posted June 17, 2014 11:19 pm

He tested positive for Androstenedione… Aka andro stak..
You know nothing jon snow-Well you’re almost as smart as I AM. MY disciple is smart enough to follow ME but not smart enough to make the picks that I make. Roy has been done at the Top level for YEARS and he knows that. Like I SAID down below, I think its not a BAD move to bank some QUICK money as long as the competition isn’t TOO stiff. He needs to find him a Paulie Malignaggi type puncher and he’ll be fine. As soon as Roy’s legs left his chances of remaining an elite Fighter left TOO.Posted June 17, 2014 9:47 pm
Roy needs to seriously hang up the gloves he is in denial he should stay gone before he ends up like Ali…Posted June 17, 2014 9:36 pm
Actually Roy Jones did test positive for steroids. This was in his so-called prime before Tarver parked him. The fight occurred in a hillbilly state with a weak commission, so they brushed it under the rug. This is a fact reported by several boxing media.Posted June 17, 2014 8:49 pm

If Roy Jones Jr. gets himself back in shape he still has the tools to become the undisputed Heavyweight Champion of the world. Vladimir Klitschko does not have the chin to take Jones’s power shots and with Vitali now retired I think that 2014 will see the return of the former P4P number 1. Remember where you heard it first. Jones will knock-out Vlad because I am the greatest fight PROPHET ever born!!!!

Roy Jones and James Toney still fighting, WHY? There’s no real big money in it. And you’re not any good anymore. And you’ve been getting your a$$ kicked so why continue….James Toney Mr. Balugua whale himself can’t even move. He will sit on the ropes and counter punch. BORING! Can you say Intervension! these two need to be brought into a room and have everyone in the world chime in and tell them that they need to stop fighting.Posted June 17, 2014 10:25 am

I for one am all for nostalgia! I cant see a problem in fighters continuing for their own personal pleasure or even to keep earning a few bob. Boxings all about level and the reality is we need fighters at all different levels throughout the sport. With guys like Jones Jnr and Toney I really think the way forward is them fighting each other. No one really wants to see them in there with young skilled guys getting their ass whooped. But against other fighters of a similar era who are still knocking about and have similar skill sets why not. I’d watch jones Jnr against Toney.Posted June 17, 2014 9:35 am

RJJ is the best ever fighter I have seen in my lifetime
Toney was an old school Champion who wasted his best days abusing his gifts by burying his face in chicken, fries, soft drinks, burgers and fast food swill
Of the 3 Champions of their ERA

A very antique saying, “When they are young you can’t get them into the gym. When they are old you can’t get them out of the gym.”
There are a lot of folks that down grade Charles for losing so many fights on TV for the then very good money of $15,000. What ever both make is less in modern money. A generation from now, ‘noobies’ will say neither Jones nor Toney were any good…didn’t have a 0 or only a couple of losses.
When Sugar Ray Robinson was 45 he had to win one last fight and who ever was one and only Champ of the world promised him a fight. Robinson lost. Robinson was broke.
Jones can’t tarnish what he has done in the boxing world. If that is the case then a lot of the all time greats can’t be considered that then.Posted June 17, 2014 12:24 am
i’ve got no problem with roy fighting on if that’s what he chooses. he obviously just likes fighting. and to step down to lower competition when you are no longer elite is a common theme in sports all over the world. yes, he is trashing his legacy, but that’s his choice. as for fatboy toney, he shouldn’t be allowed to fight due to detrimental impact it is having on his already failing healthPosted June 16, 2014 11:24 pm
So is Jones broke or is he just fighting because he wants to. I would think he is making good money with HBOPosted June 16, 2014 10:25 pm

Munty “Americans in general display poor form and lack integrity.” This statement says far more about your character (or lack there of) than your average American citizen. Such a sweeping statement is insulting to the majority of Americans who are the opposite of your insinuation, though insulting is what you were going for apparently.Posted June 16, 2014 5:03 pm
As long as Roy doesn’t fight any killer it’s OK for him to stay active & make some dough. In the places he’s fighting, people go to see him because he’s some kind of celebrity which it’s fine & deserved; It should be OK only if he keeps fighting tomato cans, no punchers allowed.Posted June 16, 2014 5:02 pm

Both these guys are drug cheats. Filthy lie lie cheats who should never get in the HOF because they think nothing of cheating to win.
I know if you smile a lot like mosely or Jones and are black Americans then there is a different rule.
The rest of the world friends upon cheating though. It’s poor form.

I would think that they’re both making at least 100k SO its a smart move. Roy is working for HBO SO its just added income for him and James I don’t think is working for anyone SO this payday is BADLY needed. He’s never been stopped in a Boxing match which means that there’s not alot of risk for him. Alot of people can work 2 years straight and not make 100k. 100K in one night isn’t TOO bad.Posted June 16, 2014 4:23 pm

If James Toney could get back in shape and go back to at least cruiserweight we could have had a long time awaited rematch with Roy Jones Jr vs. James Toney.
I would love to see Bernard Hopkins vs. James Toney in a cruiserweight fight right before Hopkins decides to retire from the sport BUT Hopkins is still great and on top in boxing and still the world champ, so he is in NO hurry to look at Toney as Toney is not in the same league anymore.
Both men are trying to still be in the game but non of them seems to realise they are done as fighters on to level and why continue to fight then?
They are legends in boxing and future Hall of Famers but seriusly, James Toney & Roy Jones jr just hurts themselfs by continuing fighting.Posted June 16, 2014 4:18 pm

Well, I think it’s fine these two continue to fight. It’s each man’s/woman’s singular decision how they want to live their lives. I have to say, at least Roy Jones still looks the part. Always in great shape. While James Toney is 5’9″ and has fought at 257 lbs!! But, if they can pass the physicals, then let ‘em fight. It is clear, though, that James Toney is suffering neuroligical damage. You absolutely cannot understand most of what he’s saying. So, he’ll continue to fight in states without boxing commissions or places that have very lax standards. I doubt he could fight in Nevada these day. Roy Jones does not embarrass himself these days as he fights guys that are more appropriate for his current abilities. And, he’s a very astute commentator. I wish both of them the best; but I fear for James Toney’s future. Ike out….Posted June 16, 2014 3:40 pm

TARK STOP LYING !!!!
Right!!! Floyd is really scared of Pacquiao… In his last 3 fights Pac has looked massively beatable — especially by a guy Floyd beat every minute of every round after a 2-year layoff.
Pacman had a Floyd fight in the palm of his hand twice — and down he goes to ignominious defeat… Now if Pac can only manage to beat Rios, a raw swinger coming off a loss, Floyd might reconsider and fight him.
How many chances does Floyd need to give these losers?

Of course Mayweather is scared. When it is all said and done and he looks into the mirror at himself every morning, he will know deep down that he is the one that has made all the excuses and he never fought the best opponents available to him. Yes he has fought some great fighters but he has continually ducked Pacman cause he know’s it’s to dangerous for him. He has ducked other fighters in the past like KT. I don’t care that they were signed by two different networks. Mega fights are made too happen all the time and that fight should have been made but Mayweather knew KT would destroy him. just the way Pacman is too dangerous for him.
