Yes Donaire is overrated ask RIGO! Lol

Nonito is overrated. That is not hating when you are telling the truth

i’m saying remain active and relevant and prominent by fighting no-names, prospects, contenders, Anselmo Moreno(!). get in three fights a year if only to pay the bills and remain sharp. this whole “I need to be rich beFore(?!?) I fight” is only resulting in even deeper obscurity. how long is an inactive 33-year-old going to cling to his prime? if this is even Rigo’s prime(?!). the decline may have already begun. anyway, Fighting not getting paid is what i’m suggesting. he needs to compile an impressive body of work –if only performance wise– to make himself unavoidable and command an audience . . . ANY audience.

Posted May 29, 2014 11:12 pm

sean p h, floyd doesn’t even weigh 150 fight day so no they were both welters when the fought.

Posted May 29, 2014 11:12 pm

Imagine the pickle Rigondeaux would be in if Donaire DIDN’T agree to fight him. Nonito was a highly ranked pound-4-pounder. Now Rigondeaux has incredible cred.

Ordinarily Frampton or Santa Cruz would want to fight somebody of Rigo’s stature. They’re the biggest names at 122 besides Rigondeaux.

They would probably want to fight a trilogy against each other before they tackle Rigo – just to get warmed up … Pretty damned daunting to face somebody you can’t hit with a clean punch for about 5 rounds.

I haven’t heard about Rigo holding out for big paydays. I did hear HBO didn’t want to put him on which is nonsense. He can go on an undercard of a bigger name. Of course Donaire himself is now on an undercard this weekend but he lost.

Posted May 29, 2014 6:18 pm

all Rigondeaux has to do is remain busy, which should be easy considering his paltry pro-resume. holding-out for big paydays is only going to result in the Gamboa-Syndrome. pulling out of million-dollar paydays as a negotiating tactic for a last-minute boo$t has only resulted in who the F’k cares or talks about Gamboa these days? if Rigondeaux moves up, he enters Garcia, Gonzalez, and Mares country. featherweight is only second to welter in terms of depth. there is no credible excuse for a 33-year-old Rigondeaux to be only fighting two or one(?!?) time a year. other than lack of desire, dedication, and an abundance of entitlement.

i’ve always liked Donaire but he’s a think-long, think-wrong type of fighter whose become infatuated with his own KO potential. it barely worked v. Darchinyan who was winning v. a predictable and one-dimensional Donaire who can do a lot better IF he finally pulled his head out of his own ass. he should be progressing a lot further under Garcia’s guidance and i gotta imagine that Donaire doesn’t firmly believe in his own (albeit dwindling) potential for boxing-punching excellence. the first step is to accept a KO developing naturally NOT intentionally. IMO, that’s been the biggest obstacle to Donaire’s progress. whether it’s because he’s lazy, immature, proud, or just plain stupid, his lack of poise and discipline is seriously compromising his relevance in the sport.

“Fight Aficionado.., Rigondeaux is pretty much being given 2nd class treatment. He’s too damned good and nobody really wants to fight him.” – Agreed Tark. It reminds me of that Russian dude who KTFO the GBP fighter on HBO a few years ago. Can’t remember names but he was brought in as an opponent and blasted out the hyped American contender for a jr middleweight title. Then he was shipped to Siberia.

Posted May 29, 2014 2:02 pm

Not a Floyd fan but Guerrero was calling him out for over 2yrs. If he didn’t fight him they would’ve said he ducked…

Posted May 29, 2014 12:38 pm

Floyd fights old fighters and bums?? So Canelo, Maidana are old and bum fighters…don’t let hate cloud common sense. He did duck Pac though. Have a nice day.

Posted May 29, 2014 12:33 pm

sean p h

Peej hating on nonito but all in love with floyd. Thats a bromance. Lol

Posted May 29, 2014 12:21 pm

sean p h

Peej floyd fights old fighters and bums also. How much bigger was floyd vs jmm and guerero? 2 divisions bigger.

Posted May 29, 2014 12:17 pm

Donaire let that whore Rachel mess up his career.

Posted May 29, 2014 2:30 am

And lets not forget the pushed the weight in back an hour or 2 to allow Donaire to lose the extra weight. So sorry but he was bigger that Montiel. And all of his title wins were the same way or he was fighting old fighters, retired fighters or smaller fighters. Like I said overrated. And D is still a BTICH

Posted May 28, 2014 10:42 pm

Notice I was saying he was like? I didn’t say he was, I said he was like which is an embellishment. Donaire was definitely bigger than Montiel and you can clearly see that when they were fighting. Montiel looked like a kid standing next to him. So no I didn’t mess up on anything. And D is a BTICH

Posted May 28, 2014 10:35 pm

Slim spot on. Rigo has no power or fans.

Posted May 28, 2014 10:31 pm

sean p h

Peej? 3 divisions higher? You ficked up there.

Posted May 28, 2014 10:30 pm

Rigo is excellent fighter…but the networks don’t like his style. Hes too defensive not enough action! Arum had to practically beg HBO to even take his fight. He will learn the hard way, action pack is what sells. Only Fraud has been able to get away with non-action pack fights. Have a nice day.

Posted May 28, 2014 10:07 pm

Tark you are the dumb one. Most of the people on here know it and call you out on it. You talk like you know stuff and then get proven wrong and then keep saying it over and over like it is gonna change the facts. You have theories and that is it. Sorry but you are the idiot.

Posted May 28, 2014 9:33 pm

Fight Aficionado.., Rigondeaux is pretty much being given 2nd class treatment. He’s too damned good and nobody really wants to fight him.

Posted May 28, 2014 8:43 pm

PEEJ.., just STFU idiot. You don’t know WTF you’re talking about.

Especially when you post lies like, “Yeah Donaire beat Montiel, he was only like 3 divisions bigger than him.”

They both weighed in at 118 and Montiel weighed in at 128 in his last fight. In fact the very next fight after he fought Donaire Montiel moved up a division.

You have to be the dumbest man in the world PEEJ. Get your facts staight. You always come up with some stupid off-the-wall BS that you pull out of your ass.

And you don’t know anything about by background so STFU about it.

Posted May 28, 2014 8:39 pm

Fight Aficionado

And where the hell is Rigo? HBO still has him on the banned list since he took down one of the house fighters? Put him on an undercard if he doesn’t sell. Those of us who appreciate sublime boxing skills just want to see him fight.

Posted May 28, 2014 8:38 pm

Fight Aficionado

Hard to believe there was so much hype surrounding Donaire with some having him top 4 PFP until Rigo took him to school. Now hardly anyone cares about his fights.

Just messing with ya peej

Posted May 28, 2014 8:06 pm

Nope not in love with Floyd at all. But when people like Tark throw out stupid remarks or allegations I just post back to show how wrong he is. Tark has no clue. This is the same person that says he has trained many pros that are fighting now. Trained many amateurs that have won many things. Has been close with great trainers. And then when he post it is clear that they are all lies.

Posted May 28, 2014 7:37 pm

Yeah Donaire beat Montiel, he was only like 3 divisions bigger than him also. Donaire is overrated so get over it.

Posted May 28, 2014 7:36 pm

Tark nope you sure don’t. You claim a lot of stuff about boxing but as you post the truth comes out and you really don’t know. You have no clue if he fights Porter or Thurman. Both of those fights are a year away anyways. They have yet to even earn a fight with Floyd. People are always trying to bring up the new young guys saying so and so won’t fight them. You have no clue. It is much easier to fight them then other fighters since they are both under or aligned with Golden Boy and Al Haymon. So stop you have no clue.

Damn peej. You must be in love with floyd. Lol

Posted May 28, 2014 2:32 pm

Donaire beating Fernando Montiel with a 2nd round KO was very signifiant.. Montiel had 2 losses in 48 fights and they were to world champions by SD and MD. Donaire destroyed Montiel in 2 rounds and is a 4-Division World Champion. Beating Donaire was significant for Rigondeaux.

Vic Darchinyan was undefeated and a long reigning champion when Donaire beat him. Donaire put him out. Floyd never fought anyone who can box and punch as well as Donaire.

Rigondeaux was shorter, smaller, and older than Donaire, and was fighting hostile judges as well… He won anyway.

Posted May 28, 2014 2:26 pm

PEEJ.., “You don’t know if he is going to fight Porter or Thurman.”

Yes I DO… He WON’T!!!

Floyd never fights a prime guy who can box brilliantly. Cotto has a great jab — but he’s a short little stubby guy who eats everything you throw. He’s not a defensive wizard.

And prime isn’t 22 or 23 like Canelo… Prime is like 26 to 33 … when you have your man strength and finished skills.

Posted May 28, 2014 2:07 pm

floyd’s not just ducking pacman. he’s ducking anybody who can box super well. these young guns are really good and all floyd talks about is punching bags with multiple losses, like khan and maidana. how about somebody with all-around skills? canelo has talent, but he was a fresh kid in daipers v floyd. fight someone with developed skills

Posted May 28, 2014 1:53 pm

@Anonymous you must be a fagot. This is a boxing forum, get outta here with that crap…Floyd is the best boxer of this generation. And yes he is ducking Pac. Now have a nice day.

Posted May 28, 2014 9:42 am

“Hard to say someone is better than someone else with the record that Floyd has. Yes Rigo is an excellent boxer, he has a very impressive amateur record. But until he proves much much more you can’t really say he is better than the greatest fighter of his generation”

Mayweather – The greatest DUCKER of his generation. The fact you can’t and refuse to see it PEEJ when many others can shows that your ‘obsessive man love’ for Fraud Mayweather clouds your homoerotic tiny disfunctional mind. The only reason you keep harping on about Mayweather over and over again like a broken record is because you want to sleep with him.

Posted May 28, 2014 5:21 am

Donaire is really nothing special…he’s a decent fighter who got is first real test against the defensive great Rigo. And we all saw what happen there. He spent half the fight covering up his black eye. lol

Posted May 28, 2014 4:02 am

You don’t know if he is going to fight Porter or Thurman. Who cares about Brook. He has yet to step up to the plate.

Posted May 28, 2014 2:11 am

Negative. Donaire is overrated. Who has Donaire beat that was great? Every fighter he has fought he was significantly bigger than or they were about to retire right after the fight, or they were way older than Donaire. No Donaire is not better than any opponent Floyd has faced. Donaire is not better than Canelo, not better than Corrales, not better than Castillo. Sorry but you are incorrect.

Posted May 28, 2014 2:10 am

PEEJ.., Rigondeaux beat Donaire…a greater fighter than Floyd ever fought.

I commend Floyd for beating Cotto, an ATG fighter, who Floyd said is the best he ever faced.. But Cotto was stopped by Pacquiao and out-boxed badly by Austin Trout.. Lara boxed Trout’s ass off—and Cotto couldn’t reach Trout with a significant punch.

As good as Cotto is, he’s not as good as Lara… Porter… Brook… Thurman… Pacquiao… all guys Floyd will never fight … and he’s not as good as Donaire, a guy Rigondeaux beat.

ANYONE who understands boxing knows Rigo is the best boxer in the world. Mayweather is nowhere near as good as him.

Posted May 28, 2014 1:20 am

not overrated. rigo is just too good. even mares will terribly look amateurish against him (rigo). Actually, skill wise, he is better than mayweather.

Yeah I think Donaire is overrated also. Only person he fought in his prime was Vic and Rigo. He knocked out Vic but he was also bigger than him. And as for Rigo well he got schooled. All his other title winning fights were against fighters that were old, retired, about to retire or small.

Posted May 28, 2014 12:22 am

you cant say that about nonito man. Styles make boxing matchs. Plus rigo has no power and no drawing power. boxing needs exciting boxers with heart chin and punching power. Nonito has those attributes rigo does not.

I agree PEEJ. Rigo is exceptionally talented. I don’t think anyone around his weight class could beat him. He’s far and away better than anyone else.

Posted May 27, 2014 10:03 pm

The problem is he was fighting old retired boxers, boxers about to retire after the fight or just plain old boxers. And also he was fighting smaller fighters. Once he stepped up to an even playing field he no longer looked like the killer he did against the other fighters.

Posted May 27, 2014 9:29 pm

Looking forward to seeing donaire box again. Hopefully he can regain the form he once had. I would like to see rigo vs gradovich.

Posted May 27, 2014 9:09 pm

No doubt Donaire was exposed by Rigo, but to his credit, Rigo’s style has the effect of making his opponents appear amateurish. Donaire does have power and if he carries that power up against Vetyeka he has a chance to win another title.

Posted May 27, 2014 8:14 pm

Sugar Ray

Rigo made Donaire look like a club boxer. It was embarrassing to watch. It was so one sided.

Posted May 27, 2014 8:03 pm

Donaire got a rude awakening when he fought Rigo , he was kind of full of himself and thought he was unbeatable.

Posted May 27, 2014 7:52 pm

The best pure boxer in the world Rigondeaux put an end to Donaire. Rigo beat him easily.
