Pauli Malignagi is VERY GOOD I must admit. NOT Bias, and calls it like it is. So there you have it people hopkins Roy Jones ALL move up once they CLEAN out the middle weight division.. Floyd knows boxing and he knows he cannot beat GGG at 154. It’s impossible. Floyd would be in for the worst beatdown of his career. The media knows this too. That’s why this fight is not being discussed. Even though GGG weighs less than Floyds last opponent.
Boxing is a corrupt world and Floyd’s on top of it. Smells bad

“FA – so you don’t want him going up to 168lbs, what about going down to 154lbs to fight Floyd?” – Floyd won’t fight him so that’s a non-starter. GGG says he can make 154 and regularly weighs in below 160 in camp. No idea if that’s fact or not since nobody puts him on the scale in front of cameras during camp. Cutting weight can also deplete strength though, so if 160 is his true ideal weight he should stay there.

golokin and bums? how many bums are left for golovkin to fight to clean the division. Martinez, Quillin, Sturm and oh, Geale. that’s it.

I am putting this fight together as we speak. Groves has petitioned the WBA as well as the IBF to either sanction a rematch with Froch or strip Froch if he faces Chavez Jr. But the obvious fight is at 168 for GGG to match with GG for the vacant IBF and WBA titles when the decision is ratified. Groves has asked for his fight to be declared a No Contest. I cannot think of a better fight for either gentleman. This fight must happen.

Sameolbs- the tszyu comparison is somewhat valid, but don’t forget tszyu was fighting the same level opponent as ggg with 10 fights under his belt not 20 plus, people say he got ducked too but managed to unify the belts

Posted February 4, 2014 10:17 pm

The Golovkin hype train is out of control . Until he starts fighting top class opposition he is basically a 32 year old prospect. In some ways it reminds me of Kostya Tszyu up until he fought Vince Phillips who was a lot tougher , meaner and hit harder than Tszyu’s previous opposition. We all saw what happened in that fight. GGG is totally inexperienced as far as weathering adversity or facing someone who isnt beaten before the bell rings.

He may be a very good fighter but until he faces A grade opposition he is an unproven mystery wrapped in a whole lot of hype.

Then again he is only copying the same business model that Calzaghe , Ottke and Mayweather use. Keep a 0 , fight bums and con the less knowledgable into believing he is something he isnt.

Cheezb, yeah, a fight with Geale would be good, I hope that’s who gets the fight. Should be a very significant match, and might answer a few of your questions about Golovkin. GGG is simply too good for second tier opponents, he needs top quality fighters to give him a real test.

Bhop jumped to 175 and became succesful. Triple G cant jump to 168 and make a ppv fight with Ward. Why wont he if the 160 pounders wont fight him lije he claims. The answer is quite clear, he knows Ward would whip on his azZ

“Roy Jones was perfectly fine. It was the jumping back down after putting on all that muscle that got him.” – PEEJ that’s why I don’t want GGG to go to 168 for one fight. He’s prime at 160 and should stay put. Paul Williams was fine at 147-154 and screwed up going to 160. Same with Pavlik fighting Bhop at a catchweight when he was the undisputed middleweight champ. A lot of guys pack on dead weight chasing fights and aren’t the same afterwards. Don’t screw with your weight IMO.

Lol I thought everybody was ducking Paul Williams and Margacheato. Lol. I’m sure if they offer a good purse they can get people in to fight him. Whether they win or not is another thing cause I think GGG is the best at 160. Why not work your way to being the mandatory?

Posted February 4, 2014 6:21 pm

Iman – In over 30yrs of watching boxing I have never heard of a champion being ducked by all his fellow belt holders, top contenders or any threats to his title. 32yr old GGG is the first and hopefully the last.

Hopkins, Pavlik and Taylor had no problems. Martinez did. Williams just didn’t bring any money to the table.

Posted February 4, 2014 5:03 pm

Roy Jones was perfectly fine. It was the jumping back down after putting on all that muscle that got him. He really didn’t need to put that muscle on. He was too fast for Ruiz anyways. Also he should of just stayed at heavy and finished his career there.

As for talk of going down to 154 to lure Floyd into a bout, or up to 168 to fight Ward, forget that. Floyd won’t happen anyhow and it’s best to stick to your natural division. Over time the pressure will force the other belt holders to stop ducking. There is historical value to locking down one division longterm like Bhop did. I don’t like guys jumping around divisions and jacking up their metabolism to chase “big fights.” Look at what happened to Roy Jones and Paul Williams.

Massage My Big Ego

Ward’s blinding speed combination of hit with shoulder first, then with head second, then with hand third, then with elbow fourth, and finally hold and wear down opponent will defeat anyone from 160 – 175. I can’t see anyone beating him while he fights in that style. He reminds me of how Hopkins fought after the 2 knock downs and draw against mercado. No one beat him also until he slowed tremendously. So I see the same thing here with Ward. After he suffered his first knock down, he changed his style. Now no one will beat until he slows down. Would someone like to massage my ego? It’s really big.

“GGG vs kid chocolate for a unification fight.”

Great idea. I agree. GGG will KO Kiddie chocolate inside 4 rounds.

Kiddie chocolate is rubbish and massively overrated. I saw him against Rosario and laughed all the way through the fight. Kiddie Chocolate is by far the weakest champion at 160.

Martin Murray is the biggest threat at 160 to GGG and even then I don’t think he’d beat GGG. I can’t see GGG stopping Murray, he’s hard as nails, and a damn good boxer, but I can see GGG’s workrate winning a UD over 12 rounds.

Murray would beat the heck out of Kiddie Chocolate as well.

Posted February 4, 2014 9:15 am

punch, Ward @160? Sure, if he wants to. GGG is boxing @160, and that’s where he should first unify. Let him collect the big alphabet belts, and then he may move on. I don’t understand why a lot of guys are talking about fights with boxers @154 (or even less) or 168+ lbs. GGG’s mission is to unify the 160 lbs belts. Everything else can wait.

Posted February 4, 2014 8:36 am

GGG vs Ward is all I want to see so all these GGG scrotum lickers can go get a life. It’s just pathetic, as GGG has only been steamrolling fringe opponents but yet he’s been proclaimed the GOAT by some posters. Let GGG unify first then get Ward so Ward could take him to school whilst getting paid handsomely.

Posted February 4, 2014 6:59 am

boxing barlow

Time to step it up. Ward, Mayweather, Martinez, Froch, Andre Dirrell, Alvarez, or even Sturm are all good matches for GGG. Adama, Stevens, Ishida, Rosado, Proska etc. just dont cut it for me. The only half decent fighter he has taken on is Macklin. Am a massive GGG fan but his team really need to look long term and just make the fights happen. At the minute everyone is scared stiff of him and will want mega money, but once they get the ball rolling if he has the kind of career people are thinking he’s gonna have the money will come in big time.

Muhammad Ali only has 1 division title! Manny has 8 division titles. It just proves how good Manny is.

Posted February 4, 2014 6:34 am

If “a jab sent Adama to the canvas”, the right hand that followed would have put him out cold. You obviously admire boxing but do not really understand it. The “jab” was more of a long left hook and Adama went down due to the effect of the previous combos that had staggered him midway through the round.

Posted February 4, 2014 6:25 am

Everyone wants welters? Ahhhh no they don’t there is 6 guys at middle that are a good match. Dawson would get his as s handed to him. If floyd was a great champ he would chase GGG. Floyd only has 5 divisions. For him to equal the great PAC he needs to win a light heavy title haha can’t do it cause he is not that great

Posted February 4, 2014 3:29 am

Some of you guys really kill me! Boxing has weight divisions for a very important reason! GGG is definitely a good fighter, but he has plenty of competition in his own division (which is 160). Stop trying to match him with WWs and LWs. I only ask for fights within the same division with the exception of a few fighters who are really bigger than their weight division, but slim down to fight naturally smaller fighters giving them an ever-present size advantage such as: Chavez Jr., Canelo, Mikey Garcia…. Fighters like that, I don’t mind pushing to higher divisions, but if a guy is comfortable in his own division, leave him to fight his peers in his division!

3g is getting bigger than what 160 can offer him fast. martinez if his bidy holds up against cotto it will be a miracle i think martinez is about outta there just because of the condition o his body. and cotto just is not all that. unless your floyds nose. 3g seems like he is gonna wantto make some super fights. kirkland is a forgone conclusion for 3g. i think pretty much anyone at 160 is the only thing appealing is martinez at this point for 3g. im looking for super fights 3g vs the likes of floyd, canelo, lara, and ward and maybe froch but i would bet on 3g to beat froch though i like froch myself. 3g is just someone who is growing bigger than the kirklands and andy lee’s and i think he will show bigger than martinez now who is on the decline. this man needs superfights

Posted February 3, 2014 9:14 pm

Cobra – Pac is at 147, so how would he make a fight with GGG? Pac’s only fought above 147 ONCE, that was at 152 when he fought MargaCheato, and let’s be honest, that was a BS “title fight”, Pac had no intentions of defending that “title” and MargaCheato didn’t even deserve to fight for it.

Posted February 3, 2014 8:41 pm

Geale next hopefully. Daniel Geale is a good bona fide middleweight who’s even won decisions in Germany! Kirkland, nah, known as a light-middle. Andy Lee is a decent boxer, but he isn’t strong enough to test GGG in any meaningful way. Golovkin to beat any of them and probably anyone else at 160lbs.

Posted February 3, 2014 8:39 pm

GGG’s best win is Macklin…not completely sold on him just yet, I wanna see him beat some REAL (true) top level 160lbers, until then, the verdict is out.

I think maidana deserves it after he shut broners mouth…a favor to the the fans of boxing plus he’s a warrior who deserves a shot…who has khan beat recently to deserve such a pay day, he’s had his shot and could do with fighting kell brook…khan isn’t even the best welterweight in ENGLAND!

Posted February 3, 2014 8:27 pm

Kirkland, Geale, and Lee would all be game opponents but I’d give Geale the best chance of surviving for a full 12 rounds because of his quick feet, hand speed and boxing skills–he’s a great boxer. I’d expect Lee and Kirkland to get stopped, but Kirkland will land some heavy blows before Gennady can take him out.

I don’t think Martinez wants anything to do with Gennady.

Posted February 3, 2014 8:07 pm

You have to agree to fight before GGG can fight you… Mack, Stevens, and Adama agreed to fight. Stevens is a true 160 pounder. He stepped to the plate and took his chance. Many others won’t do that.

Posted February 3, 2014 7:37 pm

I’m hoping it’s Geale. Kirkland would be blown out fairly quick and Andy Lee showed in the Chavez fight that he can fold under pressure.

Up until this point, Golovkin’s fights have mostly looked like sparring sessions. Even against Rosado where it was known he was coming into the fight sick, he didn’t seem to have to “turn up the pace” particularly to get the job well and truly done (not to mention it was against a guy who ended up taking Quillin to hell and back).

The only fight he seemed to have to really work in was the Ouma fight, but apparently there were some issues prior to the fight (i.e. Golovkin stuck in airport for days or something?). I just remember Abel Sanchez saying that if there was a fight they could’ve lost, that was the one.
Golovkin fought that fight more like a bigger version of Rios rather than the highly skilled boxer-puncher we see in his other fights.

I feel that Geale is the only fighter out of the three they’ve made offers to that can make Golovkin work. I want to see what Golovkin is capable of when he’s forced to bring his A-game.
I also want to see his conditioning tested. His style is incredibly energy-efficient, so I’d like to see if he can go 12 rounds whilst being forced to work outside of his comfort zone.

GGG and Lee bigger mismatch than Macklin

Go ESPN and NBC boxing.

Gennady’s a product of the modern inter-net age. He’ll probably keep one foot in the HBO door fighting (Quillan?) at the Garden. However, he won’t be restricted to the U.S. or HBO as in the old days. For example, GGG may fight Sturm in Germany, Murray in the UK, Martinez in Argentina, or Geale in Australia. Over time, most of them will want to fight him as the purse offers increase. He’ll be a “World Champion” in the newest sense of the word with a truly international fan base. Moreover, he won’t have to step up or down in weight, since there’s plenty of fame and money for him at 160.

HBO sucks and hurts boxing.

Eagle Eyes

Martin Murray is also being considered, but his hand is injured, he may not be available in time for April. However, he may be ready for the summer and that would be good fight, and Chavez is also a possibility for the summer. After that it’s up to Martinez, will he fight Golovkin or will he hide? Or will he be injured again? If does get hurt again in his next fight he should retire.

GGG isn’t asking 154lbers to come up. He’s willing to come down to 154! Catchweight champions like Pacquiao need to prove their titles are legit. Floyd says he’s the best, so prove it.

Both Floyd and Manny are COWARDS. They call each other cowards but they’re when what they’re really afraid of is GGG’s 90% KO Ratio!

Kid choclate next please. Martinez is busy. Unification.

Macho Gabacho

If he can get Martinez in the fall, then it makes sense to keep busy against any of these opponents. Kirkland could be interesting, only because he has the punchers chance, or at least the chance to chin check GGG. I’d rather it be Sturm, but that won’t happen if it’s scheduled for Vegas. Fight one of these guys now, then Martinez this fall, then move up to fight Ward end of the year.

This Triple G is a cherry picker, Andy Lee or the human punching bag Kirkland. Gto

I’ll tell you what!! Stop calling out welterweights and star calling out super middleweights
Or light heavyweights. But that makes to much since.

Kid Hammer

Was going to jump on GGG bandwagon,

but after watching his last fight.

Going to wait a little longer.

Ward wouldn’t beat him down. It would be decision win based on skill that once again would look wider on the scorecards than reality because he’d force the fight to be in backyard with judges in the pocket.

Hopefully HBO will force Dibella’s hand into fighting GGG following the upcoming gimme fight with Cotto. Who worth a damn can Sergio fight now anyway? Besides, GGG is now a bigger draw than he is.

Sadly, as with Kovalev, I fear we’re going to have to wit a loooong time before we see Golovkin in a really competitive fight. Both are being avoided like the plague. I wish boxing were more like other sports, where the best just *have to* compete against the best.

Another bum

Martinez – in Argentina – Golovkin will have to go for the knockout or win more convincingly (than Murray). Martinez would have to fight in front of a home crowd so put two and two together and you have a good fight. Instant status for GGG when he gets the win.

Hec Dog

GGG is a legend in the making. He beats any 154-175 pound fighter. This kid loves to fight, and he’s busy taking on anyone at any time. Bring in Ward, Canelo, Chocolate, Martinez or any top guy. This is a real fighter. A throw back fighter that loves to stay in the ring and keeping himself sharp. Don’t doubt this guy.

Gonzo the Dragonborn aka The New Edgar Allen Poe (Thus Quoth the Vulture)

Peter Chocolate only learned how to bark when he knew he could use the ‘Cold Ward’ as a pretext to avoid King Daddy G. Before then he was as quite as a subdued church mouse.
