I do not think Pulev looks like Oscar Bonavena at all. Pulev looks like Pulev. Pulev is unbeaten and is going to take the old guy TT.Posted August 23, 2013 1:47 am

I posted on another article that Kubrat looks like Bonavena. Tark didn’t think so, so it’s kind of funny you mention it too.

Asiatic features are not all common among the Finnic and Ugaric people.
I never said that Albanians, Latvians, Finns, Lithuanians, Estonians, Moldovans, Georgians, Azeris, Chechens, Ossetians, Abkhaz and Armenians are Slavs. You cannot say that Kosovans are not Slavs because Kosovo was settled by Slavs and is former Yugoslavia. You can say that Albanians in Kosovo are not Slavs.
Romania and Hungary may not be officially categorized as “Slavic nations,” but they are full of people with Slavic ethnicity. Romanians did not not start out as Slavs, but most modern day Romanians are significantly or mostly Slavic by ethnicity. This is due to many hundreds, if not thousands, of years of intermarrying and interbreeding with Slavs. The exact same can be said of Hungarians, who are surrounded by “Slavic nations” on all sides.
Let’s not try to make this issue more complex that it really is. The vast majority of people in the former Soviet “Eastern Bloc” nations are clearly White Europeans. Bottom line. If we keep on getting ridiculously carried away with this discussion, the next thing you’ll be say is that the Klitschkos, Kovalev and Vladimir Putin are part Asian and have Asiatic features.
DNA studies always show small traces of connection between different races, ethnicities, tribes. But that is simply evidence of human evolution. Those small percentages of commonality are not nearly enough to cloud and confuse the very apparent differences between the major 4-5 races of the world.Posted August 20, 2013 8:38 pm
Who are the ” Siberians ” ? And who are the ” Hungarian ” Slavs and
“Most of the Slavs will look a little Asian… because Slavs mixed with Huns, Siberians, Mongols and Turks”
Sorry, but that’s NOT even close to being an accurate statement. Modern DNA studies show that the vast majority of European Slavs have no or very little genetic connection with the Huns, Siberians, Mongols and Turks.
Western Slavs (Czechs, Poles, Slovaks, Wends and Sorbs) certainly don’t look Asian. Eastern Slavs (Belarusians, Ukrainians, Russians) don’t look Asian either — unless you go to FAR SE/East side of Russia and study some ancient, trans-migrational tribes who are now a small minority of the total Russian population.
Southern Slavs (Bosnians, Croats, Serbs, Slovenes, Macedonians, Montenegrins) don’t look Asian either. And neither do the Slavs of Hungary and Romania, nor the peoples from the closely-related “Baltic” states of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia.
Some Southeastern Slavs look more Mediterranean, like the Greeks and Western Turks, but that’s still quite different that looking “Asian” (i.e., Mongoloid). If you look at a world map, Central Asia is pretty far from Bulgaria.
Just because some Slavic people may have slightly more almond-shaped eyes compared to Western Euros, it does not mean that they’re part Asian by race. There are many variations in facial features and skin/hair color throughout the Caucasian race. And the peoples of Turkey, Armenia, most of the NW Middle East and North Africa are also categorized as Caucasian by race — not “Asian.”
Pulev looks like a typical Bulgarian Slav and doesn’t appear to be Asian (i.e., Mongoloid) at all. However he does have slightly almond-shaped eyes, that look a lot more “slanted” when he smiles for the cameras.
These types of discussions become largely rhetorical and useless anyway, because if we go back far enough in history, all the the tribes and races of the world are interrelated at some point as a result of human evolution and trans-continental migration patterns.Posted August 20, 2013 3:50 pm
I was very impressed when I saw Pulevvs Ustinov. Pulev wins this one. Together with Haye best HW after Wlad todayPosted August 20, 2013 3:50 pm
As a Bulgarian I can comment 2 things.
For the Bulgarian race discussion St.s is correct. Also, our guy wins easily this one :)Posted August 20, 2013 3:25 pm
Read again…carefully what I wrote bellow. It might answer your….so called theory. No point in arguing with person who uses wiki as source …. bear in mind that your official theories say bulgarians where closely to 90% slavs and bulgars were assimilated from the “slav ocean”(cheap theory during communist times …probably will understand why if you use proper historical books and not wiki) .However a recent genetic investigation concluded that there were just 20 % slavs and % 80 bulgars(protobulgars) excluding of course minorities like gypsies. So as I said your theory does not hold…read more and you will find why. Not going to argue any more……
P.S. STOP USING WIKI (I can put miself there a “fact” that crocodiles came from the sun and that 2+2=8 …if you know how the system operates….and what goes for history where you have governemnt funding to try and make their country look nice…..e.g. Israel)
Just one more thing while we are here: Pulev will win ….and win good ;)Posted August 20, 2013 2:43 pm
hey everyone, I didn’t intend to be a troll or start some discussion on race, although, this discussion has been a lot more civil than just about all others here on ESB that I have seen. So congratulations for that fellow posters!
Certainly Bulgaria is at a crossroads of different peoples, the Mongol hordes came all through there, the ottoman turks of course.
Pulev definitely looks asian to me and actually after looking at more pictures he looks middle eastern as well. It’s funny how people try to claim fighters for their race when they do well, like GGG who also looks very asian in his features.Posted August 20, 2013 1:11 pm

Ok I had enough of your incompetent comments about the origin of Bulgars. Bulgars ARE NOT from turkic decent ….get this in your head for once ! You do not have a idea what you are talking about. Stop using wikipedia as source ….there is a good reason why universities do not allow wiki to be quoted as source ….. IT IS NOT RELIABLE !!! About the turkic …origin is a theme speculated a lot ….one of the main tribes assimilated(!) turkic people …. but others which migrated (not all of them) and moved to what is now known as Bulgaria …have so much phisical similarities with turkic people as chinese and norwegian have in common !!! It is traced that the origin of bulgars is from borderline of Iran and Afghanistan… There are also theories that suggest that Thracian’s were in fact bulgars but that is not proven and it is speculative subject. !!!Posted August 20, 2013 11:57 am

Seems like I seen a documentary on the Tocharians and if I recall they speculated that they may have been related to Alexander the Great’s converse conquest of Asia. Or it may have been some peoples in Afghanistan–I don’t recall.Posted August 20, 2013 11:49 am
Good point Ruffknight, then there is Konstance Tzu (I’m sure I butchered his name) I always thought he was central Asian but I think he had a grandparent that was Korean. Opps, I just went back and read your earlier post looks like you spelled his name right.Posted August 20, 2013 11:44 am
That’s cool, Assyrian. Blessings to you.
Then again Miss Bulgaria’s descent doesn’t have to go that far back, it could be recent. I remember one fine looking Soviet gymnast who was part Russian and part North Korean…Nellie Kim.Posted August 20, 2013 11:37 am

Is that the same as Ural-Altaic? Yeah well the Slavs are related to the Scandinavians who were later blended with the Mongols who decided to stick around for a long while.Posted August 20, 2013 11:22 am
Linguistically the Turks are related to the Hungarians and the Finns. There has also been found to be some similarities with some American Indian languages and Hungarian. The Bulgarian language is of course a Slavic branch and Macedonian is a dialect of Bulgarian. I’ve often thought it would be better for Macedonia and the Bulgarians to unify and discard it’s Albanians to Albania. By the way look at Kostya Tszyu, Orzubek Nazrov ET AL, a mix of Asian.Posted August 20, 2013 11:03 am

A few years back Miss Bulgaria in the Miss Universe contest was 100% Bulgarian and she looked like she grew up in Mainland China. A lot of that DNA is from invading Mongols (e.g. Gengis, Kubla, Tamerlane, et.al.)
So Assyrian, you really are Assyrian? That’s cool. I’ve heard that Assyrians are well respected in Persia.Posted August 20, 2013 10:04 am
Thompson by stoppage is right. A lot of Bulgers have a heavy dose of Asian DNA due to the mongol horde invasion. When farmboxer touts Klubratt as the next great white champ he’s must have the Bulger tribe confused with Whitey Bulger (appropriate first name). It’s sort of like calling Tommy Morrison a GWH back in the day when he is half Native American.Posted August 20, 2013 10:00 am

Pulev is pretty good, though a tad over-rated it seems, and he will probably win this, though this is a decent match-up against TT. I don’t think Pulev is the man to beat Wladimir in the near future either.Posted August 20, 2013 8:33 am

” a ton of central asian blood as seen in his features.” – Kubrat is pure Bulgarian. The Bulgarian tribes came in Europe 14-15 centuries ago. Its kind of questionable if he is keeping that “asian blood” :DPosted August 19, 2013 7:03 pm

Pulev is ambidextrous, he can fight left handed or right handed, and he is the one to confuse old Tony, with the lefty righty business.Posted August 19, 2013 6:08 pm
Tony is not getting passed the tough Kubrat Pulev. Period. Too tough, too hungry, and too young. At 32 he is young compared to Tony the 41 old Thompson. Pulev to face Wlad not Thompson.Posted August 19, 2013 6:05 pm

Haye is positioning himself… Just in case Vitali ever fights Stiverne… It’s going to be hard for VK to fight Stiverne and say.., “No Haye fight.”
Vitali should retire but that title is worth millions every fight … and millions in endorsement money even if you don’t fight… It’s hard to say, “I’m retired” with those checks rolling in.
George Foreman.., “I’m not retired. I’m fighting Crawford Grimsley next.”Posted August 19, 2013 4:13 pm
