Gumboot we all know that Tua has power, but we all know that Tua is never going to be as big a threat as he was back when he truly was a contender…….that Tua would have not struggled against Barrett for 24 rounds. So yes Tua has still a punchers chance……..and quite frankly Unstinov is so awful that yep even a struggling Tua might have a decent shot against Ustinov.
For my 2 pence worth Price,Thompson,Wilder, Haye,Fury even Chisora could do a number on Ustinov.

KL: I’m not going to argue that a Tua win means a great deal but IF he has ANYTHING left to show…..and I say IF…a stunning, brutal KO would make some bit of noise. Seriously…..malik Scott, Wilder etc….they get a lot of press for doing SOD all! At least he could be an intriguing distraction for a while…..

KL

Ustinov is slower and less skilled than Valuev is, so even if Tua beats Ustinov it probably won’t tell you much………neither will a Ustinov victory over Tua tell us much……..apart from the fact that Ustinov is not even in the mix amongst the guys below the K brothers.

GUMBOOT

KL…..maybe Tua is….but I’d wait until after 31 August and his bout against Ustinov before I made too many comments. And assuming Tua is fit and motivated – and I’ll grant you, those are BIG ifs – Chisora doesn’t see the fifth round.

talbodin

wow do you brits overrate your scrub ass fighters. chisora needed the refs help to beat a scott who has zero credible wins. of course chisora has zero credible wins also.

Posted July 22, 2013 5:29 pm

KL

Pro……….Tua is a pale shadow of himself when he was a genuine contender……… although more for his punching power than boxing skills.
As for Chisora………well his Chisora……tough and game but nothing special.

Ned, I think you might be overestimating Hughie Fury’s progress, I rather doubt he will face any named opponent this year…….or even next year for that matter.

Posted July 22, 2013 5:10 pm

KL

Hughie Fury calling out Thompson…….. of course it’s for publicity…..Hughie Fury is an 8 fight novice who hasn’t fought anyone who has a winning record…….so of course his next fight is going to be Tony Thompson who has a hint of a winning record at 38 wins out of 41!!!

Dereck Chisora vs David Tua would be a great one to see. Make it happen.

Posted July 22, 2013 3:33 pm

Ned

Thompson’s negotiating for a fight against Pulev, so it’s unlikely Hughie will be fighting him anytime soon, especially since Hughie’s last opponent had a record of 4-29. It sounds to me like a team Fury publicity stunt. Hughie will keep beating up tomato cans and bottom feeders for another 4 or 5 bouts. To his credit, He’s been averaging 2 fights per month, so look for him to face a named, B-level opponent by October.

KL I agree it is a little to early to heap praise on Hughie Fury, but, let’s give him some credit, he didn’t turn pro as a complete novice to boxing, I believe he is a Junior Amateur world champ, and he is doing the right thing by keeping busy and fighting often, his opponents may have a lot of losses, so what? at this stage he needs the experience of fighting all different styles of fighters, and learning to pace himself and improve his balance, all the above things will help him when it comes time for him to step up his competition class, good luck to him and his team.

JeffC

Will it be another big name like Malik Scott?

Posted July 22, 2013 1:06 pm

KL

Mick the Marmalizer a bit premature to get too excited by novice Hughie Fury………let’s face it If he wasn’t given the exposure that his more famous cousin has given him, then I doubt anybody would be talking about Hugie Fury just yet……..and let’s not forget all bar one of Hughie’s opponents thus far have had big losing records…….and the one who didn’t have a big losing record was a one fight novice!
Hugie’s 8 opponents have a total loss count 148 losses……so too soon to get too excited about the teenager.

Marventu So little knowledge there. Or your about 10.

I agree thompson would be a great match up. I doubt Stiverne will fight as he has a title fight with vítali he earnt and wouldnt risk that. Even Tor hammer would be a big test for děl boy if a top name cant be found.

Shanes nightime activities are of great concern to good honest lawabiding people who like to adhere to the rules of a civilised society.

He actually came to the attention of the police as early as 1997, and I am quoting from the Police report here by Officer John Davidson…

“Shane (Name witheld) is being sought after failing to arrive for his court date. This individuals depredations include passing himself off as a Veterinarian in order to gain access to animals in no fit state to defend themselves.

Upon gaining access to Mr (name witheld) premises, officers found him engaged in bottom coitus with a dazed Labrador called Jonathan. Further investigations revealed Mr (Name witheld) had earlier hit Jonathan with his car – investigators believe deliberately.

According to Jonathans owners, Jonathan is too distressed to discuss the incident and now spends his days staring listlessly out of the catflap, and has withdrawn from all social activities such as chasing sticks.

THis department will recommend to the District Attorney that this fell beast be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, and hope that this might bring some small consolation to Jonathan and his violated rectum”

18 year old Hughie Fury picked up another useful win yesterday. That’s 8 fights in less then a year. Good to see an active H/W.

The1, Arreola couldn`t beat an egg without crying.

If a guy who was already obese put on one of those fatso sumo suits, then found it was a bit tight which caused him to drop his apples and just fill it with diarrhoea, right up to the neck level.

THAT is basically Chris Arreola.

oh please please please let the Hughie Fury vs. Tony Thompson speculation be true.

Scott and his team probably got up late and missed check in, and started shouting expletives to the staff.

Soccer is big in the USA, big crowds, 80,000 at some stadiums, they are catching on, well done.

Posted July 21, 2013 7:44 pm

Yeah, and if Scott had beat Chisora, he would be getting hyped, but he didn’t win, got beat by Chisora who has fought top competition and always done well.

Posted July 21, 2013 7:33 pm

Marventu

Brit Box… It’s a shame that u really think that Chisora has some potential. Dude, UK has only a few alright fighters, Khan,Haye, and Froch. All the others are just pure trash. If all the others would wanna improve, they must come to America and learn from the best. Brit Box, keep watching soccer……..

Chisora would beat up Tony Thompson, he don’t gas, Chisora wins that one, Chisora will beat most fighters except Haye and the Klitschkos.

I hope it’s not Audley!

The division’s heating up: Wilder, Chisora, Fury, Adameck, Haye etc. In addition, Hughie Fury 8-0 (5KOs) just racked up another win in a rematch against 36-year old Ugandan, Moses Matovu (4-29-4). But even more importantly, team Fury has offered Tony Thompson the chance to face Hughie on the undercard of the Tyson Fury-David Haye bout in September. Word is Thompson’s been offered more money than he made in his 2nd win against Price. This shouldl really heat things up!!

Posted July 21, 2013 6:11 pm

Wilder should fight Scott, that would be a big test for him, even though he will probably lose.

Chisora vs Tony Thompson could be a possibilty.

Posted July 21, 2013 2:26 pm

I wouldn’t be at all surprised if Warren gets Tony Thompson in the ring with Chisora. Everyone in the UK knows who Thompson is now……if they hadn’t heard of him before his back to back victories over Price…….and Thompson has already said he wants to fight in the UK.
I’d say a Chisora vs Thompson fight quite likely……given Deontay Wilder may not be available.

Abdumalov was rocked badly vs a journeyman, Arreola is crap and Chisora would annihilate him. This Scott guy just ran all night and didn’t have the heart to continue after getting dropped heavily. Another lame American hw.

“a decent heavyweight contender like Magomed Abdulamov”………but what criteria do you consider to be a “decent contender”.
Magomed is a very strong puncher…….that is not in doubt……but he falls well short on boxing skills……..so no I don’t think Magomed Abdulamov can be classed as a decent contender……. in fact I’m not too sure if Mago has done enough yet to be considered a contender at all.

That fight makes sense but a Price loss would mean the end of him. And does Price rate as a “big name” any more?
