Bute: I want to win every round against Froch tonight

by Justin Cabarle: IBF super middleweight champion Lucian Bute (30-0, 24 KO’s) not only intends on beating British challenger Carl Froch (28-2, 20 KO’s) tonight at the Nottingham Arena in Nottingham, UK, but Bute wants to completely dominate Froch by a shutout to where he doesn’t win a round.

Bute said to Sky Sports News “I want to win every round in there, retain my title and bring it back to Canada. Then I want to unify the titles…I have come to face him for my credibility. I need to do that.”

It’s going to be tough for Bute if he wants to win every single round of the fight, because Froch is at least good enough to steal a few rounds with his hard work and strong punch. He’s not going to just lie down and roll over for Bute when things start to go badly for him. Froch will make adjustments and try to overpower Bute if it’s possible. The last thing that Froch wants is to be dominated in front of his British fans, so you can expect him to fight to the bitter end.

Bute has the superior boxing skills as well as the ability to end the fight with a single punch. Froch doesn’t have that kind of power, but he does hit hard enough to get a stoppage if he can connect enough. Bute’s chin has been compromised in the past in his fight against Librado Andrade, and he didn’t look good in his fight against Alejandro Berrio back in 2007. However, Bute has changed a lot as a fighter and greatly improved. He’s a bigger puncher now and he doesn’t need to move around as much as he did earlier in his career to get wins. Bute will likely become the stalker against Froch, and be looking for a knockout.
