News: Funeka-Guzman; Arnaoutis vs. Coleman; Darren Fallon

The Boxing Promoters Association (BPA) expresses its deep concern over the officiating of the Ali Funeka-Joan Guzman fight this past Saturday which took place in Canada and was televised live on HBO. The BPA intends to take steps to address these types of situations. The BPA shall institute an evaluation and rating system of judges and referees. All officials will be reviewed for competency and integrity. Officials that are found to be incompetent will be addressed. Should there ever be an instance of corruption, we will seek to have that official banned. In short, the credibility of our sport must be maintained and the BPA is establishing a Committee to start the process to monitor officials. Every sport occasionally has bad officiating and boxing will now have the BPA to monitor and try to correct any blatant instances..

ARNAOUTIS VS. COLEMAN CROSSROADS BATTLE ON HUSTLER BOXING

When Star Boxing’s contender “Mighty” Mike Arnaoutis (22-3-2, 10KO) meets Baltimore’s Tim “Pit Bull” Coleman (16-1-1, 4KO) on Thursday December 3rd in the Grand Ballroom at the Manhattan Center, they will be meeting in one of boxing’s ever so familiar cliché’s; a crossroads battle between a former number one contender, looking to work his way back to the top of the division, and an up and coming prospect looking to add a world class name to his resume. Arnaoutis vs. Coleman is for the vacant USBA light welterweight championship and headlines Joe DeGuardia’s Star Boxing premiere installment of “Huster Boxing”; a new collaborative series of boxing events throughout the New York City area promoted in association with Larry Flynt’s Hustler Club – NYC.

“Arnaoutis vs. Coleman truly defines the meaning of crossroads battle,” stated Joe DeGuardia, CEO and founder of Star Boxing. “In one corner you have Mike, an experienced and long time top contender in the light welterweight division and a former WBO NABO and USBA light welterweight champion, who has been featured on such broadcasts as ESPN2’s “Friday Night Fights”, Showtime’s, Shobox: The New Generation, and HBO’s Boxing After Dark, looking for a key win that propels him back to the top of his division. In the other corner you have a young, hungry, up and coming prospect looking to make a name for himself by beating a fighter of Mike’s caliber. This essentially is a must win fight, and when you have that much riding on the line you know both guys going to give it their all.”

For the former number one contender Arnaoutis, a win on the nationally televised Versus Network, should point him right back in the direction towards a light welterweight World Championship.

“I’m ready to go,” stated Arnaoutis. “I know Coleman is going to be a tough opponent, but I have had a great training camp, probably the best I have ever had in my entire professional career. Combine that with the atmosphere my Greek fans provide when I fight in New York, and I can promise you that this is going to be a fight you won’t want to miss.”
Coleman is looking to go a perfect 3-0 in 2009 since suffering his lone defeat as a pro, a razor thin decision loss to undefeated James De La Rosa (now 20-0, 12KO) on Showtime’s Showbox: The New Generation.

This VIP evening of boxing and entertainment, hosted by various celebrities, will feature special entertainment and top boxing. Larry Flynt’s Hustler Honeys will serve as ring card girls, hostesses at all VIP dinner tables and will be entertaining late into the evening at the official after-fight-party to be held at the Hustler Club 641 W. 51st Street in Manhattan.

Hustler Boxing is being presented by Joe DeGuardia’s Star Boxing in association with Larry Flynt’s Hustler Club and will be aired live on the nationally televised Versus Network.
