Let’s Get It On Promotions is Pleased to Announce “Heavy Hands” – July 6th

(RENO, NV – April 23rd, 2007). July 6th marks the return of Let’s Get It On Promotions to professional boxing. “Heavy Hands,” the company’s first show, will be held at the Eldorado Hotel/Casino and promises to be an exciting event. The original Let’s Get It on Promotions was a partnership between legendary referee Mills Lane and promoter Tony Holden. In 2002 the country was shocked when news media announced that Lane had suffered a debilitating stroke in his home in Reno. All was halted until Lane’s sons, Terry and Tommy started setting up the infrastructure for the new company in 2005. The Nevada State Athletic commission granted Let’s Get It On Promotions a license in 2006.

Approximately one month later Terry, Mills’ oldest son, earned a bachelors degree in media studies/communication from The New School University, New York City.

“We could not be more excited for this first show.” Says Terry Lane, owner and CEO. “My brother (Tommy) and I are working hard to offer the best boxing entertainment possible.”

Heavy Hands may be the first show for the Lane boys, but it certainly does not fall short when it comes to notable names. Super middleweight Jesse Brinkley (26-5-0 17 KOs) is booked to fight in the main event. Brinkley, known most for being a semifinalist on the boxing reality show “The Contender” is coming off of two losses. In May of 2006 he dominated then undefeated Joey Spina for 10 rounds before being hit with a body shot which eventually led to the referee stopping the fight. More recently, Brinkley participated in ESPN’s “The Contender Series UK vs. USA.”

“I have some big plans going down with the Lanes!” Says Brinkley. “I’m so thankful that I have a promoter in Reno to use me.”

This will be the first time since 2003 that Brinkley has fought in his native Northern Nevada. He was born and raised, and lives in the small town of Yerington which is approximately 80 miles southeast of Reno.

The co-main event of ‘Heavy Hands’ will feature New York City’s own Maureen Shea (10-0-0 5 KOs), one of the most talented female boxers in the world. Shea gained international fame when she was chosen to be the main sparring partner for Hillary Swank’s preparation for the Academy Award winning film “Million Dollar Baby.” The attention that surrounded her has rocket launched her career. Team Shea now wants to head out west and fight in Nevada.

“Being given the opportunity to be on a Lets Get it On Promotions card is such an honor for me. I’ve always dreamed of fighting in Nevada. I am looking to put my heart out there for my west coast fans!”

“We’ve got an excellent line up for this card.” Says Terry Lane. “This show is a must-see!”

Let’s Get It On Promotions has retained the services of Matchmaker Chris Middendorf, Site-coordinator Donna Duva Brooks, and Media/Marketing Coordinator Quentin Blue Horse.

“We have one hell of a team working with us.”

The opponents for Jesse Brinkley and Maureen Shea will be announced as soon as information becomes available. The undercard will be announced shortly as well.

Tickets for “Heavy Hands” will go on sale soon at the Eldorado box office (800) 879-8879.
