Victor Ortiz Ready for Ring Return

He hasn’t been seen in a ring since December of last year, when he stopped Manuel Perez in 3 rounds and badly injured his hand, yet Victor Ortiz is finally ready to return to action, claiming he is fully healed and only needs one fight before going after ‘the big boys.’

“I’m finally healed. I shattered my wrist in my last fight in four places. I had two screws in there. I finally got my cast off 3 months ago, did therapies and what not and I’m going at 100% now,” Ortiz told fighthub.tv.

Ortiz, who has been enjoying a fledgling career as an actor, appearing in movies ‘The Expendables 3’ and ‘Southpaw’ claims he was offered 3 movies and is contractually bound to two of them, but is keen to get back in the ring before he makes any more filming commitments and allows anymore time to pass.

“I said I’m 28, I gotta get back in the ring and luckily they understood and have got my back. They said ‘Vic, if that’s what you wanna do, we’re behind you 100%.

“I went off, came back to training camp, called Al Haymon, everyone on my team, and I said ‘alright guys, I’m ready to go once again, man!”

“Boxing’s boxing. If it’s up to me, I’ll just have one fight and then go right up to the big boys,” he said about his possible comeback moves. “It doesn’t matter, you both got gloves on, you’re gonna maybe bleed, get a few bumps, but hey, it’s boxing. I’m ready whenever the world says.”

Rumours abounded last month that Ortiz was set to fight on the undercard of any Shawn Porter/Keith Thurman fight, although with that clash still officially unconfirmed, he says he will still likely be out on December 12th, which means he will ostensibly appear on the Omar Figueroa/Antonio DeMarco bill from Texas.

“My return is supposed to be December 12 but as of today they rang me before I sparred and said ‘Vic, guess what?’ and I went ‘oh no,’ it’s one of those but I’m still on that undercard, whatever card it is, on Dec. 12.,” he added.
