The Rocky story is only for the movies. Last night in New York, British warrior Rocky Fielding gave it his best but Canelo Alvarez was way too powerful, way too accurate and way too good.
Saul Canelo Alvarez (51-1-2, 35 KOs) put on a brilliant body punching clinic in defeating WBA World super middleweight champion Rocky Fielding (27-2, 15 KOs) by a brutal four-knockdown 3rd round knockout victory at a sound out Madison Square Garden in New York.
To paraphrase one of the great ‘Rocky’ films – “He’s a snowy white underdog and he doesn’t care one bit.” Later on tonight, at Madison Square Garden in New York, British warrior Rocky Fielding – THE real-life Rocky of the sport today – will go up against pound-for-pound entrant ad ruling world middleweight king Canelo Alvarez.
Amir Khan is one of a few British fighters who knows first-hand how powerful Canelo Alvarez is. It was back in May of 2016 when an outgunned Khan was brutally KO’d by the Mexican star, and Khan is now finding it almost impossible to give his countryman Rocky Fielding much of a chance against Canelo tonight.
The date of May 4th, 2019 has been reserved for Mexican star Canelo Alvarez’ next fight, to take place at The T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
WBC, WBA, Lineal and Ring Magazine Middleweight World Champion Canelo Alvarez and WBA Super Middleweight World Champion Rocky Fielding made their grand arrivals today at the Ainsworth Chelsea in New York City ahead of their 12-round super middleweight fight.
Though Canelo Alvarez and Rocky Fielding both made weight for tomorrow night’s WBA 168 pound title fight in New York, former IBF middleweight ruler David Lemieux was not able to do the same.
Lineal Middleweight World Champion Canelo Alvarez (50-1-2, 34 KOs) and WBA Super Middleweight World Champion Rocky Fielding (27-1, 15 KOs) hosted a their final press conference today at Madison Square Garden ahead of their 12-round super middleweight fight.
ERIC GOMEZ: I want to say hello to everyone and thank you for dialing in. This is the official international conference call for the Super Middleweight World Champion Rocky Fielding, who will be taking on the Middleweight World Champion Canelo Alvarez on Dec.
