Marco Huck vs. Mairis Briedis: Is Huck ready to pass the torch?
Former 200-pound limit champion Marco Huck meets the new kid on the block Mairis Briedis, for a WBC cruiserweight title fight. The fight being upgraded due to Tony Bellew’s absents is a nice boost for the fighters. More importantly, Huck’s career is on the line against what some have branded one of the next generation cruisers.

Marco Huck: „I always want to win by Knockout!“
The decision of the World Boxing Council to confirm that the bout between Marco Huck and Mairis Briedis at April 1st in Dortmund, Germany, will be for the WBC cruiserweight championship of the world was the main topic at the press conference today.
“From my childhood it was a dream for me to fight for the green belt of the WBC”, Marco Huck said. “Now this dream comes true. It is a maximum motivation for me.”
Huck vs Briedis: Huck ready for big fight
Champion Captain Huck after his fight with broken hand – “Ulli Wegner made me to an Indian brave!”
One and a half week till showdown – IBO champion Marco “Captain“ Huck fight at 1st of April with Mairis Briedis in Dortmund, Germany, for the WBC Cruiserweight title.
Huck worked very hard in the training camp in Braunlage, Niedersachsen, with his new trainer Oktay Urkal. The preparation with the former Olympic medalist was special because of Huck had broken the metacarpal bone in the last fight with Dmitro Kutcher in November 2016. But the injury is healed now and the bone is able to work under pressure.
Tony Bellew Vs Marco Huck – Who Would Win?
Bellew isn’t the man at cruiserweight despite what he thinks..
Bellew seems to think Marco Huck is “Captain Birdseye” as opposed to his moniker of “Käpt’n”. Little ironic from Bellew who has the moniker of “Bomber”, and is always talking about his power.
A stoppage record of 58% doesn’t show me or anyone else, a record for somebody with power or a title “Bomber”, to think otherwise is pure fantasy.
Winning Ugly: “The Kapt’n” Huck decisions Kucher
Anyone who has followed the course of Marco Huck’s dozen year, fourty-four bout boxing career is likely to say a couple of things about him as a fighter.
The first thing that can be said is that his style isn’t the most aesthetically pleasing to watch. In fact, I’m being charitable when I write that. Huck’s approach to fighting isn’t pretty at all. It’s actually quite the opposite. This is a fighter who often lunges in awkwardly with rainbow right hands and wide volleys of hooks, and who spends a lot of time grappling and mauling opponents in close, all the while clubbing them with whatever hand might be free at the time. He’s an unorthodox and occasionally crude brawler who doesn’t seem particularly concerned about the rules at any given point, or about where his punches might make contact on his foe’s person. Really, to say Huck (40-3-1, 27 KO’s) isn’t at all pretty is probably understating matters. To refer to his style as being “bowling shoe ugly” is much better way of describing him in action.
Results: Marco Huck defeats Dmytro Kucher, looks poor
IBO cruiserweight champion Marco Huck (40-3-1, 27 KOs) defeated Dmytro Kucher (24-2-1, 18 KOs) by a tougher than expected 12 round unanimous decision on Saturday night in front of a large crowd of Huck supporters at the TUI Arena in Hanover, Germany. Huck took a lot of shots in the process of winning the fight against the 32-year-old Kucher, but he did more than enough to get the decision. Despite winning, Huck looked pretty shot and over-the-hill to me. Huck was always a badly flawed fighter from the get go, but he looked just awful tonight. I think age and the negative effects of ring wear is starting to rear its ugly head with Huck. If I’m Huck’s management, I’m thinking cash out right about now.
