Golovkin, even when matched with a whopping great underdog everyone knows has next to no chance of derailing the Kazakhstan terror, attracts the fans.

Gennady G. Golovkin has been arguably, one of the best stories fight fans have had the opportunity to watch evolve over the past three years. A male friendly bravado and a female friendly smile have only enabled the pure star that he is to shine brighter and brighter with each fight. His power, his vintage ‘stalk-til-they-can’t-walk’ aggression, his shot selection; nearly everything about him seems picture perfect. Well, almost. That being said, we have a slight problem.

(Photo credit Chris Farina/K2 Promotions) Los Angeles, CA (April 24, 2016) In front of a sold-out crowd of 16,353 at the Fabulous Forum, on Saturday night, Boxing Superstar and Unified Middleweight World Champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin, 35-0, (32KO’s) defended his titles (WBA, IBF, IBO and WBC “Interim”) with a devastating second round knockout of Mandatory Challenger Dominic Wade, 18-1-0 (12KO’s).
The knockout was GGG’s 22nd in a row in addition to his 16th straight world title defense. His 91.4% knockout ratio is the highest in middleweight division history.
If not the Canelo-Khan winner then who next for Golovkin?
Middleweight star Gennady Golovkin has a very real problem: he is fast running out of credible opposition. In fact, Golovkin might have already ran out of suitable opponents. Making ruthlessly short work of Dominic Wade last night for his 35th pro win and his 16th title retention, Golovkin won without moving out of first gear. Golovkin was in such command he even dropped his hands and allowed Wade to hit him. Even this was unable to help the challenger.

The referee Jack Reiss stopped the fight after Wade was slow in getting up after the second knockdown in the 2nd round.
Fruitless Hope: Will GGG dominate again?
We are just hours away from Gennady Golovkin (34-0-0) defending his titles against the unbeaten Dominic Wade (18-0-0) at the Forum, in Inglewood, California. While Wade is most certainly a suitable opponent, it is hard to imagine anyone who is not a current champion with a five star resume to have the slightest chance against Golovkin. I am not, in any way, shape or form writing Wade off, especially not in a sport like boxing, where a split second or a miniscule mistake can end the night. Having said that, the mind, just like muscle memory, has a tendency to presume expectations to be met.

Feared middleweight star Gennady Golovkin wants a number of things: a fight with middleweight world champ Canelo Alvarez, all four major alphabet titles at 160-pounds (GGG currently holds two of them; the WBA and the IBF, as well as the interim WBC belt) and, further down the road, the record for most successful consecutive middleweight title defences. Currently the record is 20, held by Philadelphian living legend Bernard Hopkins. But Golovkin, in speaking with ESPN.com, said breaking B-Hop’s record is something that is “very important” to him.

At this point Gennady could fight Roberto Duran and fans would still pay to watch this man perform. OK maybe not.
No hate coming out of this article, fact is power punchers tend to attract the biggest fanbase whether or not the fighter has proven their worth. And for the most part, besides Andre Ward, Golovkin’s team has done their due diligent to scour the earth in search of a suitable opponent at the top-heavy 160 pound division.
