By Carlos Ortiz: WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (35-0, 34 KOs) says he’s going to send challenger Artur “Szpila The Pin” Szpilka (20-1, 15 KOs) to heaven this Saturday night in their Showtime televised fight at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Deontay says he doesn’t want to send Szpilka to hell like in the movies. He says all he wants to do is KO the 26-year-old “Pinhead” and send him to heaven in the process.

Wilder: Fury is just a tall guy with no power
(Photo credit: Showtime Boxing) WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (35-0, 34 KOs) say he thinks that IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Tyson Fury (25-0, 18 KOs) will fight him in the future in a unification fight. Wilder says he sees Fury as a tall guy with little power who likes to act like a fool inside the ring. Wilder says Fury knows he’ll get knocked out when he faces him.
Fury needs to get past Wladimir Klitschko before there can be any talk of a unification fight between Wilder and Fury. Wilder will be making a defense of his WBC title this month against Artur Szpilka on January 16, but it’s seen as a forgone conclusion that Wilder will win that fight by knockout.

Matchroom Sport promoter Barry Hearn says British/Commonwealth heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua (15-0, 15 KOs) made 4 times the amount in his last fight against Dillian Whyte than WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder made in his last title defense against Johann Duhaupas last September.
Joshua-Whyte reportedly brought in over 400,000 pay-per-view buys on Sky Box Office for their December 12 fight at the O2 Arena in London, UK. Joshua, 26, won the fight by a 7th round knockout after Whyte suffered a shoulder injury earlier in the fight in the 2nd round.

In 10 days from now, WBC heavyweight champion Deontay “Bronze Bomber” Wilder (35-0, 34 KOs) will be in the ring defending his title against Artur Szpilka (20-1, 15 KOs) at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. The fight will be televised on Showtime Boxing in the United States, and on Sky Sports in the UK.
In the co-feature bout, unbeaten Vyacheslav Glazkov (21-0-1, 13 KOs) puts his unbeaten record on the line against the undefeated American knockout artist Charles Martin (22-0-1, 20 KOs) in a fight for the vacant IBF heavyweight title that was recently stripped from British heavyweight Tyson Fury.

Glazkov vs. Martin joins the previously announced main event featuring undefeated WBC Heavyweight World Champion Deontay Wilder (35-0, 34 KOs), of Tuscaloosa, Ala., making the third defense of his title against confident Artur Szpilka (20-1, 15 KOs), of Wieliczka, Poland.
“There has not been a heavyweight title fight in Brooklyn in 115 years. On Jan. 16, there will be two,” said Promoter Lou DiBella of DiBella Entertainment.

Lou DiBella – Happy Holidays everybody, and thanks for joining us on the Deontay Wilder versus Artur Szpilka WBC heavyweight world championship conference call. This great event will be on SHOWTIME January 16, 2016 from Barclay Center in Brooklyn, New York. Wilder-Szpilka will be the first heavyweight world championship bout to take place in Brooklyn in 115 years. The last one occurred on May 11, 1900 when champion James Jeffries knocked out former champion, James J. Corbett in the 23rd round of what was his third title defense.
Wilder: “I’m knocking out Szpilka and I’m sending a message to everyone who stands in my way!”

Alexander Povetkin vs. Deontay Wilder is being negotiated
When Tyson Fury (25-0-0) defied most odds and came out victorious against Wladimir Klitschko (64-4-0) on November 28th in Düsseldorf, Germany, there were some assumptions and expectations from the boxing community. One of them was that Fury and Klitschko meet again in a rematch. The other one was that Fury would be a different kind of champion, fighting more often and facing anyone and everyone. This appears to be not the case. Right after his victory, Fury stated that he is not interested in fighting Deontay Wilder (35-0-0), because Wilder is simply not a champion fight material, despite his unblemished record and a 97% KO rate.
